    Man that sucks but I'm glad you let us know. Looks like from your other Vids the bike is back up and running well. I was out at MotoGP as well, but didn't get to do much riding out there either as someone hit me on my Aprilia shortly after we pulled into town. The good news I just picked up my new 23 S1kRR(luckily not from BMW Woodlands) and while I miss the Tuono, this is an incredible machine. I'm in your neck of the woods(you probably don't remember but I met you at a bike night several months back) and so I appreciate you letting us know about that shop. I almost bought mine from them and while it may not be their fault, a heads up would've been nice before they did that. No idea how my dealer will be with mods, but based on your experience I'm leaning towards not tuning it for now. Thanks again!

      Congrats brother I think i remember you and sorry about the aprilia. You made the right call, going BMW and staying away from the woodlands especially. See you soon 🫡💯

    The dealer can’t void your warranty. Only corporate can. Not to mention it’s illegal just to void a warranty for any mod on the bike (Magnusson-moss warranty act). They probably just tell people that and hope they go away. BMW only makes a low rate for warranty work so if they can charge you for labor, they make a lot more. A lawyer would tear them apart FYI.

    The reality in the business of motorcycles is that if they continue to restrict bikes in software to meet government restrictions, people will reflash them to get the bike they really paid for. It’s not reasonable for a company like BMW to design and engineer a bike that works best with no restrictions, but has to be restricted to sell in some markets, knowing that virtually all of their customers will reflash the bike to get what they paid for.
    This will definitely stop me from buying a BMW…. Which is unfortunate because I am in the markey *RIGHT NOW* for a bike like the M1000XR and the R1300GS.

    • @BMWBRO
      @BMWBRO  Před 9 dny

      Hey BRO. Those are both great bikes. Really like the XR line and the 1300 has so many configs. Don’t dodge BMW altogether. Just know the more you tink with any of them the more likely they are to give you grief. No matter what get yourself the GS 911.

    It may not be the coil's fault. The description states open circuit, which could be anywhere in the circuit (see: harness connector-after all, that was the last thing that changed/harness replacement by dealer). Also, of course BMW can tell, BMW has a few bucks to throw at IT guys to write code. Personally, I would never, and have never taken any of my vehicles to a dealer or a repair shop. I am the only service/repair department my vehicles have ever seen. Get the FSM for your vehicle, set yourself up with whatever diagnostic system you need for the vehicle, and DIY. I'm not like everyone though, I enjoy wrenching. Along the way though you learn a lot of general principles that can be applied pretty universally amongst different manufacturers. I wouldn't consider the loss of the warranty a negative, but I've never cared about a warranty. All you really need is a good code reader, whether it be generic or specific to vehicle/proprietary (e.g. my $3k Xentry system I use for both of my late model Mercedes, NDSII for my Nissan, or MelcoDiag for my Panigale), and you're good to go as long as you have some common sense and mechanical aptitude. The coil fault is peanuts, and it's why you're throwing a cat code. No big deal! You got this! Just don't run that cat rich for too long before you decide to do the work!

      WHOA what the Bro did his VOID HIS WARRANTY by installing a Bren Tune software upgrade.. PERIOD get it understand.. BMW will allow you to do your own 600, 1200 mile warranty work.. oil change check this that.. if you provide proper reciepts .. But when you download new performance software that RAISES YOUR REV LIMIT .. among other parameter changes .. YOUR DONE.. It appears that they disregarded the fact BRO was committing what basically amounts to FRAUD by installing, then removing the BT software BEFORE taking in for warranty work.. several times.. and I KNOW that the manufacturer once they saw the amount of times you pulled this stunt said ENOUGH and voided his warranty.. Why should they pay because jackoff in his garage mucking around w/ downloading zeroing out performance tunesscrewed up his engine, electronics ...usually w/ most manufacturers ECU .. it becomes corrupted after only one or two downloads..But BMW has one of if not thee most sophisticated software in the motorcycle biz..so lucky BRO didn't destroy his ECU. So your comment is asinine. obvious you know nothing about how this all works.. so to you too VERPISS DICH sport ..

    @tox_rocket Před 11 měsíci +4

    I had the same issues. BMW here in Austin replaced the coil and plug shaft. Along with all the plugs. No issues since. But it was also done under warranty. BMW voided your warranty because the bike had been Brentuned?!

    • @BMWBRO
      @BMWBRO  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Hey BRO. Yes they did the plugs the last time but will do them again. Yes they uploaded the data to Germany and the krauts found the software had been modified 6 times when there was only one new version since purchasing it. The right test will be to call another dealership in ~3 months and see if the warranty is still active 🙃

    • @MR-vt3np
      @MR-vt3np Před 11 měsíci +1

      Basically Mother Ship cancelled the warranty not the dealership. Every time the bike is plugged in the dealership the data is transmitted to Berlin. There is already a ban in the EU regarding engine modifications, exhaust etc. That will save a few penguins, all to do with emissions.

    So basically that little tool is like my Snap-On OBDII scanner?
    Well f*** a duck, that blow Bro!! It's situations like this that sorta pushed me into becoming a mechanic. I was 16 and took my first car to get work done. After moving out of state I discovered that I was ripped off. $600 down the drain. Back then $600 was quite a bit of cash for a teenager. Anyway, You'll get things figured out. Got faith in ya Bro!!
    I've got zero experience in working on bikes. But given it's an internal combustion engine, once you break it down into the three parts of what's necessary to make it run. It's can't be that hard. I guess the hardest part would be having the right tools to do it correctly would be the hardest part. Especially for your average DYI person. Although given this is were the BRO's are, there's no such thing as average here. 😉😁😆
