Part of the reason music took a nosedive in 2019 imo was because that was the year Tiktok was around. Songs got popular back then because they had good word of mouth, but after Tiktok appeared, trends and memes became reason songs got popular. If a song or artist blows up on Tiktok, you're likely to see them become popular on radio or on music streaming platforms (at least here in the US, not sure about other countries). It's not that music has necessarily become worse, there's always good music being released to this day, it's just that people's standard and perspective for music has changed drastically. People stick with genres like rap and rock, and other classics because they much rather play it safe than spend so much time finding something that's worthwhile and new. It can be a little draining listening to so much filler, but it's worth it when you find a new song, album, or artist that hits different.

@@leonpaul6198 Rock is not dead,there's more good bands today than 20 years ago,they are just underground or on internet,to be world famous you basically need to do world tours. New bands are mostly online and there's way to much shit to go through the hay and find the needle. Back in the 2000s no one had a pc/smartphone,you watched MTV and went to concerts,you had less choice. Same as with video games today,so many choices that you dont even play the good ones,back in the day people played that 1 mediocre game for years and it became so nostalgic people think it was 10/10 but if you go back to it you realize how bad it was.

11:06 i grew up listening to 2005-2018 POP, EDM, RAP, and other 2010s genre but now my favourite genre is 1980s (i never ever heard any 80s song in my childhood, i even dislike MJ as a child but now i listen to him daily) and surprisingly i enjoy all era of music EXCEPT 2018-2020 especially the KPOP era and im pretty sure that a lot of people think the same that KPOP is shit and so we can conclude that new music era is shit and stop justifying it with something stupid because what's bad is still bad.

I think the dono at end is wrong, i would listen to alot of this music when i was younger, more recently (like past 3-4 years) my music taste has completely changed to mostly hip-hop. I never listened to hiphop prior minus the rare pop songs with a rapper on it or the song that went main stream like gangsters paradise or gold digger. I think ive just realised how much more creative the instruments and lyrics are on these songs and changed completely. I probably also got bored of listening to mostly 2010s pop for most of my teenage life
Same with me I listened to so many pop songs when I was younger that I just got burnt out to ever listen to it willingly
that is just you finding your own personal taste. But at the end of the say you will always have some nostalgia for the songs you listened to as a kid, even if you don't listen to them now.
I recommend the Rising Tied album by Fort Minor, it's not one of the top albums of that period in hip hop, but it gets mentioned seldomly and i love it so here you go
