Hi! I’m getting married January 11th and I would not have been able to plan my wedding with out you! I live in South Carolina. I've watched a ton of your videos, and think you would really enjoy coming over to the South and seeing a typical Baptist wedding. They look very different from what you show.
1. typically the ceremony is held at church.
2. reception is either at the same church or elsewhere.
3. at least some photos will be taken before the ceremony, but that leaves the remaining photos to be taken in between the ceremony and reception. There is no cocktail hour.
4. most baptists believe that drinking alchol at all is wrong, so typically none will be served. Normally there sweet tea, unsweet tea, water, and coffee.
5. a lof of baptists don't dance. So it wouldn't be unusual to go to a ceremony at a church that lasted 20 min. Allow 15 min for guests to walk over to the fellowship hall of the church. Grand entrance followed right by either the cutting of the cake (dessert only reception) or the first (and only) dance. Once everyone had eatten and any speaches were made the reception would be over. The bride could throw her bouquet or whatever, but most don't now.
So weddings here are less than 2.5 hrs long including the reception.

Thank you so much for filming and posting this! I actually found your channel from your Building 177 walk-through since it was one of the venues I was looking into. My SO and I visited it shortly after and booked it! We're getting married there next June and this was very helpful, especially since we don't live in San Diego. I love seeing it in other weddings.
Don't you love it when things align like that. We had a similar situation, was speaking to my future officiant and she recommended a place that I hadn't researched yet. Later that day we had talked to them, got the breakdown and invoice and booked it. If I hadn't interviewed her, I may still be looking for the perfect place!

This couple was amazing! I had never seen a Greek wedding before. Their circle dance looks similar to Bosnian (/Balkan/Slavic) kolo but with different foot movement. Her dress was fabulous and they look like such a fun couple to know! I WISH I had a couple that lively to be friends with and invite to weddings.

In the Midwest most weddings don't do champagne for toasts. Usually the DJ gives a warning to the guests a few minutes before toasts start so everyone can go to the bar and top up on whatever their chosen drink is.

Though it's so strange to me that having several options for toasting would be a problem since here in Denmark the toasts normally take place during the dinner.
So we're having a plated 4 course meal, and we plan to give a certain amount of time (yet undecided) for people to just eat and then start the toasting/speeches, and so on for every course. So you would just toast with whatever you were already drinking ;)

I would be interested in what it is like working a backyard/DIY wedding vs a venue/vendor wedding. My boyfriend and I are far from getting married but we know that is our goal. We would be getting married on some family property and likely won't be able to afford to have many vendors. We will be DIY'ing and family sourcing everything we possibly can.
Is it more difficult to work a wedding like this because there aren't vendor "point people" to go to?
P.S. I binge-watch all of your videos. I have a while before I get married but I am fascinated by all of the parts and components that go into executing the wedding of your dreams!

Hey! I thought I would freeze up too, but I think 2 things helped: 1 - carving out little pockets of time to turn off the "hostess" switch in me and recharge 2 - pick an entrance song (and other songs) that really speaks to you. Then you have no choice but to enjoy and dance along! It'll be an amazing day for you!!!
