5-21-2022 - Crazy Lightning Show After Ominous Looking Severe Thunderstorm With 60-mph Wind Hits NEA

- This storm was very interesting, as it approached Northeast Arkansas it looked super wicked, it looked like a tornado could just drop out of the initial wall-cloud at any second, it actually got so dark outside with this storm that the street-lights came on 2-hours before they usually do! Another strange thing about this storm is that there was hardly any lightning during the storm, it mostly all happened after the storm, and the lightning that did occur was absolutely crazy! This storm had 60-mph wind, flooding rain and dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning. Thanks for watching, if you liked this video be sure to subscribe for more!
This was one of the best thunderstorm videos I've seen yet. You focused the camera in one good spot with structural references and didn't pan around constantly. You told us what was happening on screen. And most importantly; even though you edited between lightning flashes, you waited until the thunder of each flash finished before cutting to the next. Not to mention you have a good mic as it was able to pick up most of the really low frequencies of the thunder. Overall, great video work!
Me personally, constantly panning around isn't something that bothers me. Sometimes I have to, when I make videos for my other weather channel. Half the flashes I get sometimes are a result of me moving the camera.
And no vertical recording!
7:00 Those clouds moved so fast +200km/h
wow...at 34:13...that lightning strike lit up the whole sky and made it look like Daylight in that insant!
True and it was purple
34:53 was probably my fav part
That’s nothin
6:47 that shelf cloud
Fr bro
That's the strangest thunder I've ever heard and that's saying something. There's thunder in the Rocky Mountains that ricochets off range to range that sounds similar, but that almost had the same sound as jets flying past. Lightning was gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.
I had to put on headphones to make sure I was actually hearing that correctly. Wild thunder! Love this!
That storm must be very wide considering how long the thunder takes to rumble
Night time lightning was awesome. Great Video
34:53 probably the strongest thunder sound, as it broke the sound screen more than 5 times
BIG positive strike, wow!
Scary 😰😰
Very brutal positive lightning
It’s like your hearing gun shots going off
I’ve heard louder ones one time I heard one and it made my whole house shake and I’m pretty sure that some things fell over as well
That shelf cloud was coming fast, thought you'd sped up the speed again....amazing
It was flying for sure! That part was at normal speed. Thanks for watching!
@@1018weather Absolutely fantastic storm video ,we hardly get thunderstorms in my part of ireland anymore certainly nothing like that storm since 2002/03.

Dude WHAT?!?! Is that thunder or fireworks?! Most insane thunder I've ever seen...WOW
Wow. The bass response in the thunder is insane! Either great microphone or great audio editing. (Or both). Sounds like cannon fire or huge fireworks. Great stuff!
You may not believe this but I record all of my videos with a Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus phone. The only editing I do is I will remove some of the boring parts of videos. All of the sound is original. Thanks for watching! If you liked this video be sure to subscribe for more!

The cameras are so good on these phones, and the microphones! I have a daily driver phone and a phone I have specifically for videos.
During El Nino, we get storms just like this but they don't happen in June July or August. Here in Southern California, they happen in December, January, February and early March. They also last much longer. Instead of one or two hours, they last two or three days, sometimes four days. El Nino storms come from the South Pacific. It's called the Pinapple Express. They come in a series of four or five storms which can continue for three weeks to a month or more, causing all kinds of problems, such as flooding, mudslides, wind damage and lightning strikes.
34:53 That thunder sounds like mortars exploding it sounds incredible.
I know! It was really freaking me out!
Amazing crawlers!!! Loved this storm!!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Amazing Thunderstorm! ⛈️😁
this is my first time in my 28 years of living where I noticed that telephone poles sway in heavy storms
Oh yes! They have some give to them!
Cool footage! A thunderstorm is mostly in the back of a supercell. That thunder at 34:28 wow
Thanks for watching! It was definitely pretty intense!
Οmg that was sick!! Intense thunderstorms
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Really spectacular lightning. Not that many CGs. Mainly in-cloud lightning. Real cool. 😎
Great video.thanks for sharing.
the quiet before is amazing, beautiful work and beautiful place, ty for sharing
I'm glad you liked the video! Thanks for watching!
awesome video
I’ve always wished we’d get one of these everyday at 2pm or another fixed time then it immediately goes back to being sunny, we’d always have a nice show to watch mid day
This is the craziest lightning videos i've ever seen
I'm glad you liked the video! Thanks for watching!
Turns out it becomes
night
I can’t wait for summertime, Hello from Michigan. 😊
It's finally nice outside again! And it's storm season! Thanks for watching!
Right in the beginning in the center of the screen but in the distance, almost looked like a moisture surge moving southeasterly assuming west on the left side of the screen. That was pretty cool.
Yep! Pretty awesome! Thanks for watching!
one of the best storms by far. Wow!!! epic bangs towards the end. Thank you
I'm glad you like my video! Thanks for watching!
Right before a bad storm always hits the winds get up to 60 mph
Ye but if ur car moves in a tornado or jsut moves bc of the wind that means it’s 90 mph or over
Great video. I like the fact that you focused the camera in one spot instead of moving it about. I also like the fact that you put a brief description of what is happening on the screen instead of talking.
I try to not interrupt the storm as much as possible, I know that people want to see and hear the storm not me lol. Thanks for watching! Glad you liked the video!
I need more of this in my life!
It's pretty wild! Thanks for watching!
I love this video. I play it again and again. The rumbly rolling thunder as these storms pass. I live in CA and miss this kind of weather. Thanks!!! I do like the instant F-150....
I'm glad you like my video! I've got a lot more coming soon! Thanks for watching!
Nice video!! 👍👍
All of these nice comments and nobody says a word about the strange persistent light that shows up and sits right over the neighbors house across the street. You can see it well starting at 29:00 but if you back it up it was there even around 24: and some change when it was lighter. Strange indeed. Might be a good explanation for some of the high strangeness with this storm. Thanks for sharing!
I didn't even notice! Maybe we were not the only ones watching the storm...
The clouds come and go but never go away
Yep! Thanks for watching!
Waoh Thunderstorm cloud was moving very fast. Thunderstorms usually come slow.
Usually it’s called a supercell or idk if that only has to deal with tornadoes
@@user-wy7dc4xm1x this is sure a silent thunderstorm you see the lightning flash but don't hear any thunder
@@Landscape-zw5zh yeah idk why you won’t hear thunder idk what you call that also I’m barley learning about storms and all but Ik usually when it rubles later just means how many miles apart the storm is
@@user-wy7dc4xm1x no, supercells aren’t the only type of thunderstorms that can produce tornadoes. And that wasn’t a supercell
@@Landscape-zw5zh silent storms are so bizarre
Ahh,my two favourite things, powerlines & lightning ⛈️🎆💥⚡

Theyre relaxing
2 year old video but I have to say, when a storm is approaching you from the south west (Normal storms in the northern hemisphere move north-east.) you will not see a tornado. The cloud you are seeing at the beginning is known as a shelf cloud; not a wall cloud. A shelf cloud is an outflow boundary and known for gusty winds (Leading to the name gust front.) and are frequently followed by heavy rain. They are caused by warm air being uplifted above the rain cooled air and that sculpts the look of the cloud.
A tornado will form in the southern quadrant of a storm, at least specifically, a super cell. Squall line tornadoes are a bit different. A supercell is a rotating thunderstorm, and generally take on a hook shape in radar due to the RFD (Rear flank downdraft) wrapping around the updraft. The updraft has inflow, and this is what causes the wall cloud that you mentioned; rain cooled air hitting its dew point condenses lower directly beneath the updraft.
This is where a tornado will spawn. There are other species of tornados, and rotational vorticies that aren't tornadoes, but a true, mesocylone spawned tornado generally only happens here.
The scary look "teeth" of a shelf cloud are cumulus fractus, by the way!
Wow! Thanks for the information! This storm definitely looked wild!
This is awesome work. And the storm was really cool
Beautiful thunderstorm capture ever
I'm glad you liked the video! Thanks for watching!
👍👍 Great video!

Man, I miss this! I used to live in south-east Texas. Now I live in south-west Australia where a 5 minute rain shower, a handful of times per year is all you get. 😐
Well be sure you subscribe and I'll keep you entertained with storm videos!
34:14 just lit up the entire town
It was awesome!
31:34
That strike was one of my all-time favorites!
Most excellent video.I noticed that your lens never got wet like other videos but yet you could hear the carmera get pelted by the rain ...interesting 👍
So what's happening is the lense is getting wet, when it's daylight out like this it's really hard to tell though. At night it does show.
Great video I see thunderstorms a lot too but it is sometimes dry in my area
It has been a stormy year for my area. Thanks for watching! I'm glad you like my video!
The thunder is just pure eargasm to my ears
Glad you liked the video! Thanks for watching!
@@1018weather Thank you for uploading a good quality video! 🙂🙃
The speed at which that shelf cloud passes by is in cause of the cold air rush leading out ahead of the squall. That is why they are often called "gust fronts". Similar to an outflow boundary, they can cause the unstable air out ahead of it to react, in turn causing more storms to pop.
It's terrifying looking. 🤣 Looked like at any moment a giant tornado was going to come out of that.
Beatifull lightning.I think the storm was'nt over yet after the video.
Nothing really happened after I cut the video, just rain.
Wow!
that cell on 6:57 is huge
ممتع ، تشكر ❤
I live in an area where in a 2 weeks period I had 3 straight days 40-50mph nonthunderstorm winds one day of 40-50mph sustained gusting up to 70mph for 5 hours. Another day gusting up to 60mph. Then an 80mph nonthunderstorm Windstorm lasting an hour with mostly clear skies. Quite a bit of damage in my area fires and power outages due to winds. Today 6 hours of winds 35-40mph Oklahoma Windstorms.
Wow! That's some pretty wild weather!
@@1018weather it got even wilder recording 3+ hours of Northern lights in Oklahoma on 4-23-23 never seen anything like that.
@@rarebreed-wj3ov
Nice!
Mashallah 😍
27:14 that was so cool
The wind arrives ahead of the underside of the shelf cloud part of the gust front passes overhead as the wind comes down and fans ahead of the precipitation, a true gust front.
Yep!
34:28 sounded so cool
Strange indeed, most lightning is generally towards the beginning and middle of the storm and tapers off towards the back end...unless this was a multi-cell storm complex or something?
Nope, that was the end of the storm. For some reason around here storm lightning gets crazy after the heavy part of the storm passes. I just recorded another video last night of this same thing happening again! Thanks for watching!
@@1018weather well there are different types of storms with different types of thunder and lightning so it's not a surprise there's this one video of a storm in st Louis where the thunder sounded like cannon fire and had little echo to it

My favorite kind of storm! Thanks for watching!
7:09 I saw this when o went on a caravan holiday with all my family I was around 6 at the time , me and my cousin just stood outside looks at the menacing cloud
It was definitely a very pronounced shelf-cloud! Thanks for watching!
Amazing 😍😍
@1018 Weather,
That was pretty awesome right there, but the best part that I like is you turn it down to 0.25 and it might be a little boring at first, then you get to see it in slow-mo!!
Your just sitting there waiting for something to happen, but it's totally the wait to see this in slow-mo, but I tell you what... its worth the wait!!
It may take forever to see whats coming next, it will totally blow your mind and its worth the wait!!
Oh I forget to tell you this, turn the volume off,and just watch the show and start it on 24:42, that's when the fun part starts and it may be @#&€π** boring, but I gotta tell you its going to blow your mind and just sittin' there waiting for something to happen so grab a couple of beers 🍻 and some nachos & WATCH!!
Hope you liked my video! Thanks for watching!
I calculated the lightening to be 1.7 miles away.
Could be, could be. 👀
60 mph = .... km/h ?
62 mph = 100 kph
Were there no cases of lighting strikes the following day because WOW 😯🙆
It was wild for sure! Thanks for watching!
Hello you filmed with the GoPro?
No, I use a phone, the GoPro doesn't have very good battery-life or sound.
Thanks
34:28
Very odd sounding thunder! Very interesting for sure! Thanks for watching!
That was a good spot alright but correct me if I’m wrong but that looked like a tornado to me…..😮
I don't think that was a tornado, but a tornado can come out of that.
Nice automatic sprinkler system with bright fertilizer injector.
Lol! World's most insane lawn-care system!
The severe thunderstorm it does have the wind over there.
Oh yeah!
29:49 i was scared for this
