Just ordered the SS for 2017 in white, minus the sunroof and I'll buy a 550hp mod without a supercharger. I'm told I'll gain 100hp and 80lb of torq. This 427 swap is way cooler, but $20k is out of my reach. Now, if they offer a 'decent' credit for my stock motor with less than 2000 miles, then maybe. When you asked about the engine swap-out versus the alternative mods, I was left a little perplexed. I get the whole cubic inch thing, but I wish Jeff provided a bit more detail on the benefits of one over the other.

Since my last post, I did contact them and discussed the options. Now considering the 570 or possibly the 630 swap. Either way, I will start with the interior e.g. Recaro ErgoMedES seats, Sound insulation, Crystalline tint, 3M film, etc. Still waiting on my 2017 to arrive.
That engine in that car is going to be hair raising to drive, I want one!

So it's basically an American tuner version of the Holden Commodore HSV W427 they sold in Australia. Very cool. I guess the actual LS7 swap the guy talks about would be more exact but there's nothing wrong with a bored and stroked LS3 block and heads to meet similar numbers.
Add a LSA supercharger and have the same power
Hope to pick one of these up on the secondary market for a sleeper LSA or turbo build. Light cam, shorty headers, stock catback, widened rear tires, 6L90E flexplate. Keep everything else stock.

These are cool cars! They are built on the old Pontiac G8 platform. Lots of fun to drive bone stock by the way. Great mid-life crisis car! LOL I think its a Holden chassis built in Australia. After Pontiac closed they started building the new Caprice, imported for Law Enforcement, on this chassis and the Chevy SS is the commercial version of the Caprice police car. Someone please correct me if I am wrong but I think that's how it went. Great video Scottie!

You're pretty much right. In the middle of 2017, Holden will stop making the Alpha cars in Melbourne, and import them from us Actually, the SS was to be the next Impala, but was scrapped due to government interventions in its bankruptcy filing. If we're lucky, we might just get the new El Camino in a year or two.
Chalres Kirkland That would be sweet! As cool as it was, the SSR just didn't do it for me. An ElCamino would be great! Is the rumor mill saying it will be on the Alpha platform? The SS is what the Impala should have been all along. I have never liked the front wheel drive thing they put the badge on. Do you know if this will stay the SS or will a civilian version of the Caprice be available? I have driven a bunch of G8's and they are a lot of fun! The perfect blend of performance and practicality in my opinion.

At least it's creating American jobs, but I hope it doesn't cost to many Australian jobs. I hate to hear about stuff like that! The Ute is a good looking truck, but... in a perfect world they will put a version of the new 2014 Silverado front end on it. I don't know what everyone else thinks but I think the new trucks are the best looking truck Chevy has put out since the 70's. Thanks for the info Brother!

krazy45cat Yeah, the new 2.9l Whipple blower is really doing wonders. Plus people are putting LSA blowers (from the 2009-2015 CTS and current ZL1) on the SS for cheap and running various meth setups to get some good numbers. As "old" as the LS3 is it is super-easy to mod.
The all-motor guys are seeing mid-400s on H/C/I alone. This is a great platform. From a modding standpoint there isn't anything better for the money, except for the LSA CTS-V but it's pretty dated by now and its interior is not as nice as the interior of the SS.

I just got me a 2016 Chevy SS with 11k on the odometer and after owning a 1989 Caprice Brougham LS for 20 years and a 2001 Monte Carlo SS I finally found an upgrade worthy of retiring my brougham (joking)and when you hit the pedal you better hold on with 2 hands

If you want to know more about them checkout the Holden website sight www.holden.com.au and you can see the Aussie spec models. Guys over here are putting chev badges on the ute (truck) version. They have the same motor in them.

If you want one just call Holden in Australia and we'll make one up for you want a manual no problem, want a v6 or v8 no problem, want the top of the line go to HSV and don't forget to ask for the LHD setup. It should workout to be cheaper than buying the Chevrolet SS. And you get a bit more variety like a station wagon or even a ute. Just have a look at Holden Australia website then you'll know what I'm talking about.
There is no way that ANY LS7 VF will come out to be cheaper than an SS, even if you factor in exchange rate. Are you alluding that a VF GTS, starting at aud 96,990 (about 74056.71 USD) is going to be less than the Chevy SS.

If you can deliver to me (or point me to who can) a LHD VF GTS in Regal Peacock with a lo-line spoiler, auto trans, and sunroof for LESS than an SS (as you claim is possible) then I will wire the money, in full, within the next 12 hours, to whoever I need to at GM.

hikeskool the gts has 6pot brakes upfront magnetic control suspension and a whole heap of other things done to it unlike the Chevrolet SS. As for buying one you'll need to get in contact with HSV head office and ask for a special build LHD HSV. They should be able to put you on the right path. I could look up a couple of car conversion companies over here who export/import to the US.
I'll Get Ya with my you'llbe stick I know all about this platform and the model I mentioned.
You said the "top of the line" hsv will be cheaper than the SS. So put me in touch with someone who will make it happen.

hikeskool Well, I have an ecoboost Mustang this week. It's much better than I would have guessed. I really like the Impala. I drive the V6 car all the time. Great car, just think the tail end styling is plain.
