    In some urgent cases, we wonder to use the existing version Rockwell Allen Bradley RSLogix/Studio 5000 software to open a PLC project which was programmed by a higher version software. By default, this can not, but this video shows how to do this. In this video, it shows how to use Studio 5000 V31 and RSLogix V20 to open a project which comes from Studio 5000 V32.

    Well done on a great explanation. I have used this video to create a version 17 program so i can import a program and then downgrade the PLC version to version 16 which is in the PLC processor L55. This is because you can not import programs in version 16 and lower and you cannot update L55 processor to version 17 and higher.

    Hi! We're trying to upload a v28 program to a v31.11 but it failed. Is there any way or method on how to upload an older studio5000 version to a new version? Thanks

      You have to use the matched software to upload the PLC. Use V28 RSlogix5000 to upload the V28 PLC. I know it is pain. But you can install v28 and v31 in one windows system. they can be installed and coexist. I recommend you Ghost your OS before you install the RSlogix software

      You can use RSLogix5000 open this project and save as a L5K file. Then use Studio 5000 to import this L5K. While importing this file, select the v32 and CPU, then you can open the project with V32.

    it does not give me option to save as .acd format when I open .L5k file

      Probably your *L5k was not modified correctly. Please review the video, there are a couple of places to be modified. Thanks for watching!

    Hi dear,
    May I ask help. Please convert my version 31 file to version 30. Or please provide me my version 31 file's L5K extension.

    Thank you for the great video. I am having Studio 5000 V34 software installed on my laptop and I need to open project file, which is saved on version 20.01. Is there anyway to open this file. ( Controller is 1768-L43. Thanks in advance

      Using a higher version of software should be able to open an old revision of project. You can try to open it.

    hello Sir i am trying to open a V30 File on studio 5000 V28 program with this method but the project does not open what should I do

    • @electricalautomation
      @electricalautomation  Před 3 lety

      There are some different scenarios in the video, please review carefully, and make sure you changed "IE_VER" and "Major" in the L5K file when you try to use V28 to open a project from V30. Note, this method might not work if the project has some special modules. The method showing in the video is just for your reference. Please check the video around 12.30 czcams.com/video/OFQcLu0liUg/video.html

    How can I open a version 17 on Studio 5000 V30, for exemple

    • @electricalautomation
      @electricalautomation  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi thanks for watching, this video talks about an alternative way to "open/convert backwards". According to your question, are you asking about how to use a Studio5000 V30 opens a project which was a program by version 17? Please note, since the software and hardware version must match, and the old version (below V20) controller CAN NOT upgrade its firmware above V20 (V20 is a watershed), therefore, it means you can use RSLogix 5000 V20.5 to open this V17 upgrading it to V20, and also you need to upgrade CPU firmware from V17 to V20. For your reference. Please correct me if my answer is wrong or misunderstood your question.

    Can i use version 16.4 on windows 10 ? Or would i be forced to upgrade and use studio ?

    • @electricalautomation
      @electricalautomation  Před 3 lety +1

      As I checked, the 16.5 is compatible with Win10. compatibility.rockwellautomation.com/Pages/SelectedFeatureAttribute.aspx?crumb=118&rnf=0&isRP=0&featureID=8963&versions=57334. You could upgrade 16.4 to 16.5.

      To download the RSLogix5000 or Studio5000, you need activation code which you have to purchase. Use the link above, seraching the software you can find, but then you need to type in the code for download
