- Definitely not the most amazing board but it caters to my wants and preferences a lot.
Configuration:
FR4 Top/Bottom Plates
Acrylic middle layer
Mill Maxed
Cherry Hyperglide black, 16mm 57g TX springs, DK films.
Durock V2 Stabs
PMK DSA 2049
The little bumpers at the bottom of the board is such a great idea and smart little add on.
Boardsource is working on an aluminum high-profile case for the Lily58 layout called the Lulu - if you don't use the corner keys all that much or are willing to adjust their exact positions, that could be a way to get metal. It'll be integrated plate though, so it'll feel even stiffer and harsher than a skeleton plate kit.
For actual flex in a split board I haven't heard of anything better than P3D's acrylic o-ring gasket mount keyboards. Jake hasn't designed one for the Nyquist yet or other non-row staggered boards with a numrow, but he does have one for the Preonic.
There's also the Sol family but I'm not a fan of the thumb cluster. It's got a lot of cool features though (case assembled with magnets, hotswap inner column modules, magnetic tenting kits).
WAIT OMG I missed the P3D Preonic case completely. If my hotswap sockets weren't acting up I'd definitely get it.
I do wanna try more of an ergo layout like the Sol, but they aren't selling it anymore so would have to waitttt.
Lily58 is definitely a consideration, but with the extra OLEDs adding some width it might be something I try out and have to think real hard if I'd want to go further with the Lulu. I've had bad experience with integrated plates, but hell, I'll try it if I like the board itself.
Ty for this info!
great vid keep up the good work remember me when ur famous
I was wishing to get a Planck but wandering about the wrist being very close together. Thanks!!
Good to know @Ash2. I've decided to build a split and am currently waiting my DracuLad PCBs order to get delivered.
hey great vid! do you think this keyboard is still worth it 2yrs later?
I would say so, but more because there aren't a lot like it. It uses a USB C to C cable to connect the two sides, which in my experience is a lot more reliable than the more common TRRS cable.
I also think 5x12 ortholinear is extremely underrated.
If you want a full aluminum split ortho Kprepublic makes the SP50.
Ooooo thanks for pointing that out! Had no clue.
Nice hair very handsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!
