Am an Arsenal fan, and the only reason it created a debate was because ramsdale was an england player.

100% No one cared Leno was instantly replaced and then all the "Ramsdale did nothing wrong" by pundits even though he gifted Fulham a goal this season they all ignored and Brentford yesterday just shows he has no spatial awareness with the ball at his feet.

Was gonna comment the same before I read yours. Spot on. He’s levels below Raya. No wonder the defence always looked shaky with him between the posts. The guy is a bozo. Definitely not a fan of his theatrics. He thinks he’s of the same quality of Ederson, Allison, Donarumma or Raya, but in reality he’s just an ordinary goalkeeper who got relegated twice. Looks like he’s got bad luck hanging over him for eternity.
1:36 Arteta was correct, it's his vision and he knows the characteristics that he wants in each position. Aaron was put under a test like any other player and failed. Ramsdale senior did not help his son, he actually hurt him.
In the documentary I think alot people respected how real Aaron's parents seemed and it was genuinely about watching there son play.. we've heard nothing from Aaron but this is football and unfortunately even due to fan pressure at the beginning Raya hasn't done bad you'd argue although everyone talks about the defence being better arsenal just look more solid and the little things Rayas doing and the decision making has been crucial.. Aaron's and England international if he chooses to move on there will be no end of suitors But these again are the fine margins.. fans may say if it's not broke don't fix it but the little tweak has seen arsenal concede less
I had to look this up. Come on now this is just stupid . It's not like Ramsdale is saying he is dangerously prone to switching off when the other team is about to launch a cross into the box or if he's one on one with the opposition striker. When the ball is down the other end, he starts engaging with the fans or singing along with the chants. Thats it.
the issue is that he has been caught switching off during the title run in last season and even when he allowed himself to get lobbed against sporting from the half way line.

This happened at the beginning of the season. Clearly, Aaron got his head down in training and continued on - under a better Keeper and remained a team player. It's irrelevant, ridiculous, and incredulous to attempt to bring this up now. Aaron has already proven himself to be an asset and will likely leave for good money as it's obv he's too good to be a number 2 & will likely be a future England no1 (hence why his dad made those comments respectfully). Then again, he is under contract & we've stuck with less talented number 2's who have gone on to become no1 so I wouldn't write off him staying & challenging Raya albeit very unlikely. We are gifted with having 2 goalkeepers on this level, so again, it shows why his dad had reason to comment & why this headline is ridiculous.

No one knows. But the belief is Arteta may have been aware of these issues with Ramsdale before getting Raya. His concentration issues or difficult parents etc could have been raised behind the scenes

Raya is so much better than Ramsdale.
Raya plays as an extra defender in possession, offering passing options, creating numerical advantage.
He helps keeping possession with his tiki taka passes, so that we can maximise the quality and quantity of our possession, ball progression and chance creation, which would eventually turns into goals.
Raya attracts the opponent to press him so there will be an unmarked teammate elsewhere, breaking the opponent’s press. He is able to spot that teammate and deliver to him quickly under pressure.
He has great vision, game reading and decision making on when to pass slow/fast, when to go long/short, dictating the tempo at the back. He has great long and short pass accuracy.
He is silky and tekky with his touches, close control, dribbling and passing.
If any team wanted to improve towards the very top in modern football, they will have to eventually sign a ball playing goalkeeper.
In modern standard, Buffon is rubsh. Neuer is twice the player. Because Neuer is good at BOTH goalkeeping AND ball playing. Buffon is just good at goalkeeping.
Onana and Bravo might not be the final answer but DeGea and JoeHart must be replaced. Ramsdale is our JoeHart. Raya is our Ederson.
