    About 2 weeks ago I was approached by my new CO and asked if I wanted to go to ranger school in January... like 2 weeks from now. I of course said yes and have been scrounging to get everything off my packing list together. I was just about to get a rangerpack and I saw that you had uploaded this video, I watched it when it was newly posted "1 hour ago" and thought to myself. Nah I shouldn't comment, probably won't win. But my wife is pushing me to, thankfully I have her. Hoping to knock out ranger school then middle of next year go to SFRE then on to SFAS. Best wishes, thanks for all the tips.

    As an aussie civvy, when it comes to spiders, find a light 6ft long stick. Just wave it about I front of you. You'll look silly but you'll be (mostly) spiderless.

    • @Pilgrim771
      @Pilgrim771 Před 4 měsíci +1

      When the Army Jungle School used to be in Panama, "trail spiders" were a constant nuisance. Savvy students would always have the "Point Man" carry a "spider stick" and wave it around as you moved. The school cadre reveled in setting up ambushes (especially at night) just downwind from a spider web across the path. Predictably, when the point man (if they weren't using a spider stick) would get the spider web, and often the spider!, in the face, all noise and light discipline went out the window, and that would trigger the cadre to initiate the ambush.

  • @Pilgrim771
    @Pilgrim771 Před 4 měsíci

    I've watched Gritty Soldier using this Crossfire pack for some time now, and finally decided to buy one. For me (personal opinion) it was a disappointment. I've used many different rucksacks over the years, and I'm always looking for the most rugged, lightest weight, pack with the best features. Now that I've had a Crossfire, I understand why the website and advertising is conspicuously lacking in information about the weight of the pack. It is super-well-made (over-made), but it's ridiculously heavy. Just the empty pack itself takes up about a third of the load weight you'd like to carry. For one thing (that adds to the weight) there are too many gimmicks, pockets, etc., all of which take extra material. There are lots of alternative, well-made, rucksacks available that weigh about one third of what the Crossfires weigh. These packs are superbly constructed and of the best quality, but their excessive empty weight led me to return the pack. I'm sure they're fine for civilian ruck marching, or fitness regimes, (where the goal is to carry weight as an end in itself) but I can't imagine unnecessarily lugging the extra dead weight along in a true tactical situation. (and I badly wanted to love this pack!)

    my only problem with crossfire a lot of their rucks dont seem to be jumpable. I know this would be like a medium molle replacement (which the shoulder straps on the medium are horrendous)
    i have a crossfire frame for one of my packs, but other than that i jump/use mystery ranch mountain pack. Thanks for the review though. Crossfire is a great company, and atleast for my situation this looks like it could be really nice for a civilian expedition.

      @@m783w well obviously it must be a different jump harness for the ruck compared to US. Because there is no way you a getting a H-harness on that pack. I actually jumped in Australia a few months ago with aussies on talisman Sabre 21. I saw some of you guys rocking those packs.

    This DG3 is half the size of the MKVII which you also did a review on. Great info by the way. (55L vs 110L) What's your opinion, I know it's all mission dependent but MKII seems to be a bit too big. Army issues 65L rucks, so it sits closer to the D3 capacity comparison. Would you rather go with DG3 or MKVII??

    • @GrittySoldier
      @GrittySoldier  Před 2 lety +3

      Right now I lean more towards the DG3. I like how organized it is, and it’s very easy to handle with quick access. It a very sensible ruck IMO. I like the MKVII, but yeah it’s pretty big. I’d use that if I needed something to carry a TON of stuff, but not for an everyday ruck.
