Just finished book one and I’m obsessed! I had a lot of the same feelings as you did, but as a mythology/ folklore lover, the slow release of Sarn’s history bumped it up to 5 stars and all time favorite for me. I couldn’t wait for the next piece of the puzzle! 🦇

It's not groundbreaking, but not every book needs to be. It was just so so great. Although, I'm still angry.🦇

Love this review!! I had every intention of rereading this series along with you, but I just kept picking up other stuff and now here we are... still not having started my reread. Oh well, I am so glad to hear you had such a good time with these books though. Unique is truly the most fitting descriptor for this series. And I LOVE Vintage, she does indeed give off the sassy Lady Trent vibes and I adore it!!

From what I’ve heard and from what you describe it sounds like it’s kind of Sword & Sorcery, and I hear William’s previous fantasy series is even more S&S. Hoping to start the series this month if I get the chance! Nice overview

Perfect timing! I´m just trying to find something new to read. I'm reading Oathbringer, but it's moving so slow that I need a palate cleanser, specially one that's plot driven. By the way, I also work in neuroscience and love books, so it's nice to see a soul sister over here. :)
This moves WAY faster than Oathbringer so hope it does the trick for you and yay to more book nerd female scientists on the bookish internet!!
I read this in December and loved it! Even while I was reading other books in between sequels I was still thinking about this world and even dreaming in it once or twice! 🦇
ps The US Amazon has the books for $12-15 each, you don't have to go to a UK specific site.

Also did not know that! When I was first trying to buy this series last year I could not find them from Amazon, only third party sellers so that’s nice. Although still annoyed I could never have an ecopy
@@LiteratureScienceAlliance I think they were also in between print runs toward the beginning of last year because at one point I had to track down copies only through ebay... but given the surge in popularity, like a month or two later it was available everywhere. 😅

Haha I think I might be one of the few people who left Infinity War with trust issues. I was convinced that there was no coming back from that, probably because I didn't expect them to go there in the first place. 😂

I am about a third of the way through Ninth Rain and to me the world reminds me Avatar the Last Airbender. Enjoying it.

Loved the world! So interesting and original! But, sadly, the characters and their interactions annoyed me more and more with each book. There are some great side characters though, I wish we got more scenes with them.
I can see that, they aren't the strongest character interactions/characters but it was very much cinematic action movie level for me and I am way more forgiving when I am in that head space haha
