The Fall of Gondolin was (to the best of my knowledge) the very first part of Middle-Earth that he wrote while still fighting in the trenches of WW1.

The siege of gondolin is epic.
It fires images as they desperately tried to fight back which they must've known was a hopeless battle
My favorite line from the fall of Gondollin "....and then Tuor was upon him(Meglin) and his wrath was terrible to see.." ahhhhhh! F@#K You Meglin!
Fall of Gondolin would trully be an epic batlle and it would be really cool to see it on the big screen! Also probablly one of my favorite characters from the first age fought during this siege, Turgon, Ecthelion, Glorfindel... baddass and great warrior every one of them!

There are notably similarities between Gondolin and Troy, especially between the more detailed early Lost Tale and the account of the Fall of Troy as told by Virgil in his Aeneid. Both cities have their origins in the God of the Sea, as the walls of Troy were built by Poseidon/Neptune. Both also are doomed because of treachery (one internal, the other external) and while their citizens celebrated a feast. Both Aeneas and Tuor are destined to survive the destruction, managing to kill all enemies while wandering through the battle and seeing the death of their respective kings. Both also secretly lead survivors to escape the city, accompanied by their relatives (while Aeneas carries his father, Tuor carries his son).

The event, together with the fall of the Doriath, that trigger all the 2nd and 3rd ages of the Middle Earth. That brought us the War of wrath, Numenor, and all those heroic event of the War of the ring. One of the most beautiful reading of all the work of the Professor. After the fight of Fingolfin against Melkor this is just up there, a masterpiece of sadness and hope. Is the closing of the circle and the begging of the fall of the first dark lord.

I think you who did this are pathetic and vile - This video just like every other one posted by TBS are fantastic and bring to life Tolkien's work in a way that can be easily understood without every having to read the books. The one thing I kinda wish was explored more was the fleeing of Gondolin. Like after the Balrog did the orks just let them go or was there any battles that took place so that the orks were delayed by elves.

Gondolin was in Belariand, so the site of the city was sunk below the waves with the rest of the that section of the central continent of Middle Earth at the end of the First Age during the War of Wrath.
Well, after so many years searching for it’s location, morgoth suddenly assaulted the city,..

@@TheBrokenSword Respectfully, you guys are in part to blame for what happened.
I listened to the video and I simply didn't take his word for it. Considering the run up to the show I find it hard to believe it's going to turn out decent. In this case I will need to see it to believe it.
But that's fine I didn't see the presentation myself so, who's to say he's wrong.
The problem I see with that video however is the lack of disclosure. There was no real telling what kind of event it was. What was paid for and what was given. Was something signed or not? No idea. There should have been more clarity on your part, especially considering the legitimate worries that many have about the show. That just fuels the odds of possible issues arising.
Calling it simply hatred within the community is in bad taste. You can't simply shove it all off on some who don't like you. A follow up video explaining a few things would have gone a long way, dismissing it like that simply worsense the situation more.
A more measured approach could well soften what has happened.
Whatever the case this channel's potential seems now linked to the show. If things will be good then you can say, see. Told you.
If not, well that be unfortunate. Also because the footage you have been shown may well be all that was good about the show. It was likely carefully prepared to advertise.
Anyway i'm still watching as the content has always been pretty solid. Plus i'm not overly attached to people who run a channel, rather focus on the contents. Within reason, of course.

@@Wimpiethe3 I have to respectfully disagree, the fans are to blame for this. What happened here is a classic example of an internet mob. Many fans have already made up their minds that this show is going to be terrible, so anyone who says otherwise must be lying. They can't handle the fact that the people who saw the twenty minutes of footage liked what they saw and eased some of the doubts they were having. This has turned into some silly conspiracy where now a channel such as this, where they clearly love and respect Tolkien's works, are now being accused of being "shills". The channel is better off without those sorts of people.
I'm a bit out of the loop. Why is there hate against the Tolkien fandom?? Is it from the Rings of Power show?? If it is, I don't see how this would affect people's opinions of your channel and those like it. Why be angry at you guys when I don't approve of Amazon and its "interpretation" of Tolkiens work with their show?
The problem for channels like this is that they stay true to Tolkien when making vids of lore, but don't call out bs frome amazon, when if enough backlash happened there is atleast a possibility they would change their direction and correct obvious destruction of Tolkien's work.
That's why it's easy to "hate" on them when they "pick a side" in the conflict.

The hate is justified and dutifully given. Tolkien is a South African who immigrated back to England. He grew up with non Europeans and the like but he went back to his roots and developed his folklore, characters and stories on European-British folklore. With the exception of the dwarves who clearly had Jewish roots the people are European whites. I will always support and back this channel but if it discusses the Amazon remakes or stories I will not watch and stay with the Fandom. I'm tired of inclusion and black washing our history and people for the damn sake of stupid diversity. There should be no reason to ever put a homosexual, Trans, Indian or black person in Tolkien's works. It's popular because of its European inspiration and characters you ruined it Amazon!
