- It’s not 100% clear which vehicle is the actual first infantry fighting vehicle. Yes, the Soviet BMP-1 had unique capabilities for its time, but Germany also has a pretty strong claim. The precursor of all modern IFVs, the HS.30, was developed by Germans in as early as the late 1950s. And in 1969, they introduced the Marder, a fully-featured infantry fighting vehicle with protection from small-arms fire and shell splinters.

Apparently Germany doesn't use these in their army. Rheinmetall made these for export I guess. Only Hungary uses them today according to wikipedia.
Its still a shame tho, since it is in fact a german vehicle

Shoutout to the guy who made the War Thunder forum thread on all the ways the Puma is busted, including some of the worst accuracy and ERA protection in its rank, missing armor, non-360° cover on a famously 360° defense system and some more.
We've been discussing it for more than a year already, and that was a teamwork. But the "documental" work was done by 3-4 guys in this thread, and it's a loooooooong discussion, even saga I would say, about bias, betrayal and incompitence

Certainly would be nice if the PUMA in game had any working features that it has irl. 360 MUSS, functional AHEAD, Spikes, etc.
While I was a little bummed out that Germany didn't get the KF41, the argument is a bit understandable, and it's good that Italy has something competitive
But I would really like it if I could at least have my own IFV be then half as usable as it's supposed to be

@@DirtL honestly I've not had that many issues with Russian ERA. Later variants can be a problem, but at that point I aim for specific weak spots. If I'm unfortunate enough to see them from the front and I somehow take a shot from them, I can then shoot barrel, then both tracks, then fire at the driver's viewport (I've seen an M18 frontally kill a BVM that way lol)

They don't put lynx in the German tech tree is a paradox. Because they already added tons of prototype tanks that don't even enter service in their own nation.

A lot of the equipment is from original designers in countries. You'll see a Jewish P-51 E-40 in the Chinese volunteer group. It's all if you make the same vehicle other countries took it as well. It would be like making a lot of vehicles the same. Some of the German vehicles is also in the Greek army.

If I had to guess, it’s probably because of how many people own the puma, so most in games, people would just be spamming spikes, however I still think that’s bullshit.
It is not just the spike that was added when the PUMA was upgraded so it can't be a modification for the existing one. It will probably be a separate vehicle.

The puma used to be great, but at 10.0 I don't know what I'm supposed to do with it.
The Russian version (2S38) at the same br has 100mm more pen.

Russian version is paper compared to the PUMA. Even if its unmanned turret,but an ammo rack can kill the crew. PUMA can survive that

@@hetspook666I usually kill 2-3 enemies per life in the PUMA. Its one of my best vehicles. If an enemy tank exposes just a liiiittle bit of the side you can basically kill him. If not shoot the cannon, tracks, and move around.
Best for flanking anyways, so if you come from behind or the side any enemy is usually ded within 2-4 shots.
Also don't use the AA rounds. You can perfectly range and snipe helis with the darts.
I love all of this vehicles, well most of them, however ironicly enough the Lynx isn't in the German tech tree. Why it isn't Gaijin? Also where are our spikes from the PUMA?

The marder 2 could be a very cool addition as its 50mm autocannon sounds very scary, as the 2S38 and begeleit 57 has more or less demonstrated. Although the PUMA is just a better choice

they say the Lynx and Puma has the same protection in game... They dont, Puma has significantly more protection. Give Lynx its actual chemical protection and fix the APS not working and then they will be comparable.
For people who are still crying about Lynx not being in German tech tree:
- This is the same scenario as the Pz.III N, a tank produced by Germany, but not used by Germany. Because of this, it's in the Italian tech tree, but exists in the German tech tree as a Premium. They'll probably add it in one of the next updates for Germany as a Premium or Squadron. So chill out, enjoy your Puma and don't be selfish that Italy mains finally gained some things.

Gaijin the problem we have with the KF-41 being in the italian tech tree is the reasoning you give us. It not being in service in the Bundeswehr would be fitting for all experimental vehicles in the game aswell. Just say you want us to play Italy.
The puma has (should) have a researchable missile launcher on the left side of the turret.
Can you guys *PLEASE* do a video specifically on how yall make the camera work in the replays for these videos (specifically this one like seriously that camera movement at the start was absurd)
Dev tools have access to keyframing the camera in replays. It's pretty cool, although I swear that the game crashes more often while using it for the most mundane things.
Gaijin should add the ability to individually edit a decal length and width to at least give us more options when it comes to customisation

I believe that the “not in German service so Germany doesn’t get” is a forced excuse to have it exclusively in the Italian tech tree to incentivise players to play the nation. Which although disappointing is fair enough
And Italy is pretty painful to play, or at least to get playing, so it getting some good things is actually refreshing.
Honestly Italy needs it more than Germany, Germany once gets the Spikes on the PUMA it will be just as good as the Lynx, besides Hungary operates them and making them in Zalaegerszeg where the factory is, no one else, Italy gets Hungary, meaning they get the Lynx and a good bunch of unique reinforcements, and Gaijin didn't cross out the possibility for the Lynx to be added to the German TT, dunno where anyone heard that Germany won't them but ok, but once the PUMA gets the rockets then there is not really much more point to add the Lynx to them honestly, it would just complement the existing bunch, nothing else.

Bit out of context on a ground based video maybe but it'd be cool if you added a new type of decal. IRL on the side of many military aircraft and helicopters you can see the text United states airforce/army/marines or like Royal Netherlands Airforce for example. Would be cool if you added these texts as decals to freely put them anywhere we want
I really like the Marder 1A3 and the Begel, even though the latter is not an IFV. The only good thing about the PUMA is that it now sits on top of the tree, where noone is forced to research this useless thing to get the rest of germanies Light Vehicles.
I don't think the PUMA is useless, it is pretty good vehicle which is liked by a lot of people. Thus it isn't useless because there are a ton of people who want to play it, including me. If it doesn't matter than this whole game is useless. However it could be more effective with its Spikes

The fire rate is horrible compared to BMP-2M, and the 30mm APFSDS have both bad penetration and post-pen damage (also compared to BMP-2, 2M, and CV-90) so you can't kill stuff fast enough before it kills you.
The armor is only good against Chemical munition, which is completely irrelevant since at 10.0, everyone is shooting 400-500mm+ pen APFSDS.
The tank is also both massive and incredibly tall, so you can't hide at all.
Your MUSS soft-kill APS is also useless since it can't stop dangerous stuff like Hellfire, Ataka, or the infamous: Vikhr missile on the Ka-50. Which is also conveniently the most common ATGM you're going to see at 10.0 and above.
Your AHEAD round is also useless because the round is coded like a HE-TF instead of HE-VT, you're going to have a hard time fighting plane (even with the help of IRST) compared to Begleit's HE-VT.
The PUMA still doesn't have the Spike unlike the Freccia and Lynx, so if it meets ANY MBTs, it just dies lmao.
Seriously, this thing is such a sad piece of garbage, man. The only saving grace for this thing is that 10.0 to 10.3 BR constantly gets downtier to 9.7 (because everyone's 11.3 lineup now has an 11.7BR plane which means it can only get downtier to 10.7 instead of 10.3), that's it.
The Argentinian TAM and TAM 2C was never used by the Germans and it sits in the tree while Lynx was not used by the German but not in its tree? and where are the Spikes on PUMA?

I didn't get the BM, but I genuinely feel bad for the people that did get it expecting it to be special compared to the 39/25T. The things that made the BM special are no longer special, the only unique thing about it compared to the 39/25T is that it can have 2 more KAB-500s, what a waste of a grind.

Hungary in The Italian Tree is a crime , this shows that hopes for the V4 tree have fallen. Poland will probably be in a random tree. Same with the Czech Republic and possibly a piece of Slovakia.
Poland most likely will be part of the British TT, if not the French.
