      @@dylannotsor6955 Pétain didn't "betray" his own people. The majority of the French parliament voted to give him full powers in 1940. He was given power, he didn't take it. You can think whatever you like about the Vichy regime but it was the legitimate french state. The defeat of 1940 was no surprise given the political turmoil during the third republic.

    • @dylannotsor6955

      Putting his own people in forced labor camps, sending the jews to Germany, giving into fascism is a betrayal.
      Hitler was elected, he still betrayed his people in the end, blaming them for his incompetence.

    • @karlmeso90
      @karlmeso90 Před 2 lety +1

      @@dylannotsor6955 Calling it a "betrayal" is dependent on ones own politics. I could argue it was the third republics incompetence that caused the whole debacle. It's not like Pétain or any French nationalist working at Vichy wanted to send french workers to German camps, but it was part of the demands made by Germany. Reducing the Vichy regime to simply sending jews to Germany is reductionist. The Vichy regime had a real ideological framework: Pétain as head of state, all political parties banned, corporatism etc.

    ww1 attacks be like :

  • @killswitch8078
    @killswitch8078 Před 2 lety +1

    Well.......that's the not to do video...
    When charging, you have to spread the formation. If you move to the enemy in file formation, you have no chance to ever reach your objective.
    This is simple.
    In file formation, the enemy had to focus at only one position. He kill the first man, then the next, etc etc. And in modern figth like ww1 with machine gun, i let you think why you have to spread your formation.
    When your spread your formation, like in line formation, the enemy have to move the aim to one target to another, wich is (in real) more difficult. You can miss, or just not see the guy far on the left or rigth of the enemy line.
    In history, since ever, men was charging shoulder to shoulder, not running, marching to the enemy as compact as possible, to maximise the impact of the shock. Not in file, wich will be useless. The first will reach the shield of ennemies, get stabbed, then the other, etc etc.
    With the modern era and the threat of artillery and machine gun, the charge formation had to spread more (like 10 or 15m mini between each men), and to move fast (run, at least when close to enemy trenches) to avoid the problem.
    Still, ww1 shows it is not a good option to face heavy firepower. That's why ww2 was a movement war (fire and move tactics, not positions hold). No one would face this trenches situation again. (US have to face that kind of figth against jap by attacking fortified positions...was not good. Nooot at all).
