Mount Mitchell - North Carolina State Park & the scenic drive to the highest peak in Eastern USA

Mt Mitchell is the highest peak of the Appalachian Mountains, and the highest peak in eastern North America within the Mount Mitchell State Park, a North Carolina State Park. It is located in western North Carolina off the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. This is one of those State Parks where you can drive to the parking lot at the top then hike a very short distance on a paved but steep 980-foot trail. It is kid, elderly, stroller, and wheelchair friendly trail. But there are about 22 trails in Mt. Mitchell State Park rated easy to hard, and from a 0.4 to 18.1 mile-distance, There is a Natural History Museum, and gift shop, picnic areas, camping areas, and a Restaurant that is currently closed for renovation but will open in 2022. Mt. Mitchell State Park is worth a visit this year, and onwards.

Thank you. Most of the hikes to Mt. Mitchell are a 12 mile loop, and I wanted to confirm their was a short trail to the top, because that's all I would have time to do. I live in East Tennessee, and have been to Clingman's Dome many times, but have yet to visit Mt. Mitchell. I've seen it from Clingman's Dome a couple of times.

yes there is a very short hike which is 1/4 mile long and paved but steep from the summit parking lot to the observation deck which is what we took.
