@@marywood8794 yeah it's kind of a catch 22 for me. I am like you and understand that all the gadgets we have and grew up on don't ever give us a moment to actually just reflect and think on life. The only time I actually reflect and think on life is when something rotten takes place and it knocks me out of my rut for a moment so that I have no choice but to pay attention and take a situation more seriously.. Fromom the time we wake until the time we fall asleep, we're constantly doing something that distracts us from things that are probably much more important at the end of the day. I remember as a small child and 9/11 took place. All of a sudden every American seemed to be United. The churches and other religious centers began to fill up a bit more than ever in recent memory. People were friendlier to one another for a few weeks or maybe even days alone
It took something like that so ruckus out of our drunken stupor and think of more important things then my gaming system or whatever it may be that sidetracks us from the time we're awake to the time we doze off. I was just a little kid during 9/11 but I remember how people changed for a while. And everything kind of went right back to the way it was before. Great observation by you about that oldest man in this video. He has no distractions of technology. He's more in touch with nature, I know that sounds corny cliche but it really is true. So you banged it right on the head with your observation of that guy. What's so unique to me is how they are speaking in simplistic terms like kids that are very young. They're describing things that they don't understand in the best words they can. Big sample would be the dungeon on the ship and the one man said that's like a portable jail. I subscribed to this channel because I just watched a couple other ones before and it's just bizarre in a good way how simplistic their Outlook is and how poorly informed they are on Western civilization and things we just take for granted. I think this might be the third or fourth one of binge-watched LOL. Like I said earlier, the whole technology is a catch-22 because I'm so used to it and grew up on it that I almost feel naked or helpless without having that phone in my pocket for any given reason and any moment need be. I'm going to wrap it up and I'm very sorry this was so long but I'm feeling a little passion and I'm using speech to text so I'm just spitting words and not worrying about grammar, as you can tell not worrying about run-on sentences or paragraphs Etc. Everything's just speech to text and I noticed you saw something that most haven't mentioned about that older man picking up on certain things. I watched a Mister Rogers one before this and then I watched them view we are the world song. That one was funny because the guys kept talking about certain famous singers and saying that looks like so and so my friend from the village. It was just funny but so simplistic and real that I'm going to share this joint. Anyways if you're still reading thanks and I'm sorry ended up being so long but again it was speech to text and I am a passionate guy. You wouldn't happen to be a Scorpio would you or maybe cancer? Scorpios have the tendency to notice things that other people seem to miss. I'm not all big into astrology that much but I'm a Scorpio and I've noticed it's true for me. Good observation or good eye is to say in sports

@@choice12ozborne Wow! It's a good thing that I always type my comments or they would all be that long, too! Lol I have had a few that were nearly as long, even with typing them, but that's usually in comment sections on something more political or frankly depressing than this channel. Yes, I'm a Scorpio-November 12th-and I'm not into that stuff either, so I had to double check if I even was one! I live in the U.S., was 24 and married, with a brand new baby, when 9/11 happened, so I remember what it was like before phones were always in our pockets and we weren't always staring at a screen. Sometimes I get so annoyed with the technology that I tell people that I must secretly be an 85 year old in a 45 year olds' body! My 20 year old son and I talk about it all the time. Just yesterday I was paying for my cell phone online and the company's site wasn't working right, so I had to enter all of my information several times. I started muttering...I often find myself doing that...especially at the self check out registers at the grocery store. Yes, I'm that crazy lady that talks back to the cash register at the self check out! Lol
My 20 year old (I have 2 teen sons, too), said "I know, right, if you could just call or mail it, you'd all ready be done". I think maybe he's secretly 45! Lol For all that we have gained from this technology...my quick Google search of Scorpio birth dates...we oddly seem to have lost how connected we used to be, especially in times of crisis. Yesterday, during our conversation about the cell phone thing, my son and I agreed that the benefits of all of this online stuff doesn't seem to out way the annoyance or the negatives. Ironically, he doesn't remember a time when we didn't have this stuff! Look at how divided we are as a country right now. People get online and anonymously spew their hate filled crap. We should be uniting like after 9/11 to fight the pandemic, but we've become a nation so filled with hatred for anyone that doesn't think exactly as we do, that we can't find empathy for anyone. A world without empathy is a truely dangerous place. With age, there definitely should be wisdom. The man in this video with white beard (sorry, but I don't know his name), is a great example of that. Unfortunately, lately many of our elderly leaders (presidents and members of congress) are not. Oops I'm heading back towards those politics that raise my blood pressure again...I watch channels like this one to regain my sanity from all the horrible political crap in this country. Watching comedy shows from the U.K. on CZcams helps, too. I recommend Would I Lie To You, Taskmaster, The Big Fat Quiz, and 8 out of 10 Cats (=categories) or 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown, as some good non-political ones to watch. If you don't mind some of our politics and a lot of theirs (at least they have problems, too), Mock the Week and the Russell Howard Hour are good, too. If you haven't seen the Bob Ross of PBS "happy trees" fame video on this channel, it's really great, too! I'm not sure which Mr. Roger's one that you saw on this channel. During the one with the boy in a wheel chair, we learn that one of the men reviewing the video has a disabled child and he truly appreciates how Mr. Rogers treats the boy the way that you should treat any boy, disabled or not. See...EMPATHY...we've got to get it back somehow! Mr. Rogers must be doing somersaults in his grave! See...I'm not too shabby myself at the crazy long comments! Lol
At least this one was mostly positive. I think that you still beat me though! Have a great day or night wherever you might be!

@@choice12ozborne I am a Scorpio, we make excellent police detectives, scientists and physicians because of our observational skills. I was 16 when 9/11 happened, my Ma woke me after the first plane hit and at that moment everyone (in the general public) still thought it was a tragic accident, then we saw the second one hit and of course knew. Then the Pentagon and of course the heroes who sacrificed themselves to take down the one headed for D.C.. I still remember every emotion, from shock, to pain, to rage and sorrow. At the time we lived on the Island of Palm Beach and there was an endless drone of fighter jets patrolling the coast. It was the first time in my life that I ever experienced a sense of being truly unsafe. Americans turned their pain into love for one another for the most part and it was beautiful. I wish that the country could return to that but it seems impossible now.

@@veritaslibertas4976 No, okay, I admit that it got 1 thing correct - Francis Scott Key wrote the star spangled banner. As for errors
      1) it was during the War of 1812, NOT the Revolutionary War, and the term colonies is absolutely not appropriate.
      2) The US started the War of 1812, and England had no desire to re-take America. They knew that we made better trade partners than unwilling and most likely violently rebellious subjects.
3)George Washington never said anything like that, the quote is of Emiliano Zapata during the Mexican Civil War with the BS "Christian Americans" added on.
      4) Francis Scott Key said in his memoirs that he went privately to secure the release of one friend he wasn't sent by anyone else, nor did he represent anyone else.
5)He also reported that he was aboard a truce ship 5 miles away from the fort and not aboard a Royal Navy ship during the attack
      6) given #'s 1,2 and 5, the ultimatum from Vice Admiral Sir Alexander Cochrane is complete hogwash.
      7) Fort McHenry (not Fort Henry) is a military installation built between 1795 and 1800. It's walls and roof are 13 ft thick brick and mortar (with dirt above).
      8) on that day it was manned by a garrison of 1,000 soldiers, and mounted 20 heavy guns (18, 24 and 32 pounder cannon)
      9) According to Lt Colonel George Armistead the Commanding Officer of Fort McHenry there were only 28 casualties in the fort (24 wounded and 4 killed)
10)There were only 19 Royal Navy ships. 5 bomb ketches and 1 Congreve rocket ship escorted by 7 frigates 2 brigs and 1 schooner plus 3 smaller transports NOT "hundreds of ships" and certainly NOT the entire Royal Navy as the video says.
11)The flagpole at Ft McHenry today is a steel replica of the solid wooden one that stood there in 1814, it is 90 feet tall and weighs around a ton (the solid wooden one was heavier)
There is no way humanly possible to manually hold it up.
So, yeah, basically with all of the errors and blatantly false information in this video it's NOT accurate AT ALL.

Britain was fighting France during this time and wanted to restrict trade to France and was blockading American trade ships and was drafting American sailors. That was our main gripe with Britain and the annexation of Canada was a threat one we couldn’t back up. I also would call it a British victory as the British had devastating losses in Louisiana and they gained nothing from the conflict in fact they cared very little for it sense they had bigger problems. At the end result the United States got two of the three things they wanted. The end of the trade blockade and the return of all Americans they was forced into service by the British

    • @jhonshephard921
      @jhonshephard921 Před rokem +2

I came to the US from Pakistan and I don't know the history of the Pakistani anthem what I do know is that there was an alternative anthem originally written by a Hindu poet who was commissioned by Jinnah himself to show that Pakistan, originally, was a secular country with a Muslim majority and respect for all religions. That vision faded after Zia ul Haq, an Islamist dictator supported by Ronald Reagan during the Soviet-Afghan war. And our history was kind of turned into propaganda by whitewashing stuff we did in 1971 in East Pakistan/Bangladesh and making Urdu, Pakistan Studies and Islamic Studies compulsory in our schools. Its considered so important that you can't get a US degree equivalence from Pakistani authorities until you pass those subjects i.e you can't leave Pakistan on a student visa without it.
People like Ron DeSantis and Trump in the US are now trying to do the same by removing any wrongdoing from American history books. So yes, it is very important to learn from other countries so you don't repeat their mistakes.

This was amazing. I'm American (actually a dual citizen) who was born and grew up in Trinidad & Tobago, and went to Catholic school (primary and high school) back in T&T...so we recited the T&T National Anthem and our school's anthem (yes....our Catholic high school had its own anthem also...lol) every morning in the school's auditorium before classes began. And when I moved to the USA as a student to attend university and eventually became a dual US Citizen (USA and T&T citizen) I learned the history of the US National Anthem as part of the US citizenship test. I already knew the US National Anthem by heart since I was a kid in T&T due to the song being sung before every sporting event on TV...and obviously, I attended many football matches (FIFA World Cup qualifiers etc) between USA and T&T, whereby BOTH teams national anthems were played before the matches. The story behind national anthems worldwide can be very touching. These guys from Pakistan were very wonderful. Thanks for uploading this.

I love the story of the American flag & The Star Spangled Banner. Many Americans believe this was written during the American Revolution.
The US was a very young country & Britain wanted it's 'colonies' back.
This is the main reason we respectfully stand, remove head wear (there are a few exceptions), either place the right hand over the heart (military active & former may salute) & at least mouth the words cuz it's a very difficult song to sing.
Thank you for sharing the American anthem. I'm looking fwd to hearing the Pakistan national anthem.
I also appreciate that Mr. Abdul noted that 'something magnetic & very strong' must be holding the flagpole upright. Excellent foreshadowing.

I was taught this in school along with the pledge of allegiance while raising/lowering the flag at school.
I also learned more details about patriotic victories in History class (US and World).
My patriotism was re-affirmed as a military brat and then military spouse because I knew what we were fighting for and against.
We’re ALL taught this yet some chose ignor-ance to dismiss or diminish what it means.
We Shall Govern Ourselves, in order to form a More Perfect Union, under This Flag and Democracy.
We will fight for it, die for it and protect it.
We’d rather die on our feet than live on our knees, under Kings, Queens and Catholics.
If this History is now being ignored in schools across the country, that needs to change and if you live your life freely in the US, the least you could do is find out what it took to make it that way.

I was extremely patriotic after serving nearly 30 years, and this significant piece of information just took me to a new level of perseverance against those that are trying to take down our flag from within, and those that would stomp and burn it now with great disgrace. I wont let that happen again, first amendment or not. I served in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and i have much respect for those nations resistance to oppression, and these participants showed more respect for a country they are just learning about, than many of the citizens that live here. The elite enemies of America quit teaching this information to turn the citizens against itself on purpose. Those of us who were lucky enough to have been taught the truth in school and from people like you, continue to fight for the principles we were founded on and for the honor of those that held up that flag with their lives. This is why for a long time if was a crime to let the flag touch the ground or get damaged on purpose, but our enemies took that law away so people can dishonor it legally. Very very sad.

The flag wasn't propped up by bodies -- in fact, only 4 Americans died in the Battle of Fort McHenry, and the flag was never hit as far as we know. Most of the details in the story here are grossly exaggerated -- Francis Scott Key was not aboard a British ship during the battle, he was on his own American truce ship; the British didn't have nearly as many ships as mentioned here; and Key was not negotiating for the release of a "mass of humanity" -- rather he was only interested in one prisoner, Dr. William Beanes.

Do you think these amazing people would like to react to some of other's countries culture? For instance malambo from Argentina, Irish dance, etc?

The narrator of the video misspoke the name of the Fort. The place was actually Fort McHenry located in what is now Baltimore, Maryland. To truly understand, they should watch the video by Johnny Cash of his song "Ragged Old Flag". That song will bring tears to the eyes of any patriotic American.
