- Here's a FUN WAY of using MASKING FLUID. We normally use it to reserve the white of the paper for pale detail work, today we are going to use it to mask within a main image to create an interesting layered silhouette style painting. Great for using up spare paint, and creating little greeting card designs - have fun!

What a fun thing to do for the amateurs like me to have a go at. Love it, be great for my cards! X
Hi Angela, have fun with this, but it's not just for amateurs but for anyone of any ability, you can add whatever details be it complex or simple inside your outline. 😀
What a great idea. I love this particular kingfisher.
Glad you like it, thank you 😊
Great idea! I'm just learning to use masking fluid, and applying several layers seems like so much fun! Can't wait to try it! Thanks for your video. ❤
Have fun, you can do it! Think of other outline ideas as well, just think what you can do for some greeting cards. 😀
What an interesting technique which makes for a very interesting painting. Thank you for demonstrating this.
Glad you liked it Louise, thanks for watching. 😊
Wonderful. 2 ideas from your inspiration 1) this would make a nice replicated motif design on a bolt of fabric (i like to sew), 2) I've been working on a short illustrated book for my niece, who loves elephants. This silhouette concept will help me be playful and stop being fussy about elephatic realism (haha a new word too!). 👍
I like the word! LOL A good idea regarding the fabric as well. 😀
Can't wait to try this
It's all about playing and seeing what you can do with it, have fun leerag 😀
Fabulous video. I really enjoyed this and will definitely give this technique a try!
Have fun Maria, and play with other ideas as well. 😉
What a fabulous idea! Thank you!
You are so welcome Sharon 😊
Never should have watched at bed time..my mind is spinning with all sorts of things to paint using this idea...maybe I should have sent for 2 bottles of mask..???😂😂
LOL Marjorie, I do hope you managed to get some sleep! 😊
WOW! THIS IS SO COOL! 😮What a fun and creative piece!❤
Thanks so much 😊
@@TheDevonArtist you're welcome! I am definitely going to try something like this. Thank you for the video and the inspiration.
I have a quick question...I just bought a bottle of pēbēo making fluid. It appears to have settled while on the store shelf. Do I stir or shake it? Or is it ruined? I haven't used this brand. I used liquitex previously and it's extremely difficult to get off cotton paper.
I always stir my Pebeo, but stir it slowly with a cocktail stick. Shaking it will cause lots of bubbles, which will be a pain to apply to the paper leaving holes everywhere. I have never used liquitex so sadly not something I can answer for you Laurie,😉@@lauriebowen25
@@TheDevonArtist thank you!! I'm looking forward to giving the Pebeo a try!
Just in time ...my new bottle ( old one probably was old enough to vote) arrived yesterday from Amazon...
LOL, I know the feeling regarding old masking fluid, sometimes you just have to start afresh. 🙂
I saw you flash a painting of an elephant, but I can’t find a tutorial for it. Did you do one, or is it part of another?
Hi, I do have a full tutorial on painting an elephant on my Patreon channel: www.patreon.com/TheDevonArtist but not here on CZcams though. Paul 🙂
