How to Paint a Dark BACKGROUND with WATERCOLOR
This video covers how to apply a dark background, and also how to do that when you don't want to use masking fluid. A dark, background can really set off a wildlife subject, but it can be scary using such concentrated pigments, hopefully this video will give you the confidence to try it occasionally.

What is the US version of this graphite paper
There are a variety of these on the market. The one I use is called Frisk, here is the US Amazon link for you to give you some ideas. Whatever you get, just make sure it's wax free, otherwise you won't be able to remove it. 😃 amzn.to/3VEbOK0

Thank you so much for this video. I love painting dark backgrounds but they never work for me. They end up splotchy where I really want a solid colour. I have been looking for a tutorial like this for ages. This is just what I needed. You always make it look so easy. Thank you again.
Thank you so much for your kind words. 😊 I'm glad I am of some help, as you know painting backgrounds can always be tricky, just remember to ensure you wet the paper at least three times, allowing each layer of water to soak into the paper for half a minute, before adding the paint. This way, the paper will stay wetter longer, giving you a little more working time. Paul 🎨

Interesting. It's like you're using watercolor more like gouache.
I do sometimes, but still with the transparency properties of watercolour.
