If you deleted your third row power seats on your Lexus GX460, consider installing this simple mod! The power is constant and you don't have to run wires from your battery. I love our Lexus GX, but it's lacking additional 12 volt plugs and USB's in the back. This mod cost me less than $100 all in! What's awesome is that my buddy Izat Dagher, the creator, is an electrical engineer and also owns a GX460. He built it out of necessity and can mail you one. I weighed each chair at 49lbs. So it’s probable that you’re shedding a little over 100lbs with hardware.

When I found out, I just had to do it. My 2012 still had the factory plastic on the chairs. Never used them.

How thick is the hot wire you've tapped into? Your plug is rated at max 150W (120w + 2x15w). Be carful with what you plug in it. Just because the folding seat fuse is 30A it doesn't mean the wire can withstand continuous current at that rate for much longer than it takes to operate those seats. Lets say you max out your plugs at 13A then your hot wire (feed) must be at least awg12 all the way to the battery. It's good you have used feeds from both seats. But, in case one of your feeds gets cut, you won't be able to notice that with the setup you have. All your power will go over single feed and you may end up with fire. Please double check the wire thickness and perhaps install tiny diods for each feed, so you know they are hot. Good luck!
Thank you for the feedback. I mention at 18:00 how I will be using this setup. It’s meant for small draws only like my iPhone, gopro batteries, and the LED for the awning. Not running a fridge. The gauge I’m using is 14.

What voltage is displayed back at your new aux 12V when the car is running? Interested to know what kind of drop you get (starter battery w/alternator vs plug in back).

Can you do an update video about the port Mansfield pier? The last we saw it was completed but still closed. The park hasn't had anything done. Repairs have been going on for 3+ years!

You know that receptacle in the rear right side. Do you use that for anything. Could you use that outlet , modified, to accomplish what you did by tapping into the seat harness? I have a black line edition and all the seats are muscle power in the second and third row. So no can do. I would love to plug in my Dometic back there but I don't have a 12 Vn socket, just that 2 prong outlet.
That OEM outlet will not work. The wiring gauge is not thick enough either so it won’t handle it. You may just be better off buying a power station like a Jackery 1000 or perhaps set up a lithium iron battery which will do a great job. I will be conducting a review of a cool battery that’s perfect for powering up the fridge and won’t break the bank.
@@CoastalGX Not being the most patient person in the world.... took the truck in today and a shop that specializes in electronics and all kinds of electronic mods for high end cars, to discuss some possibilities. The guys agreed that that power plug back there is essentially useless. The ywill install a power inverter ( 2000 W) and connect to vehicle battery. then wire the outlets that I would like to it. all tucked nicely and concealed. So right rear a 3 prong outlet and a cig. lighter style power receptacle. Another somewhere to be determined and a plug in the footwell passenger side so my son can work on his computer while we travel. Along the way there will be a toggle switch to power down things when needed or not in use. That's sort of the quick summary. Of course a bit pricey in labor, but since I have no idea how to wire any of it it's better than blowing everything up and killing the warranty on the truck. I do enjoy all your videos even if I can't do any of the things you do. I'll do brakes and fluids and other mechanical things but NOT electricity.
@@Cocora22 I'm not a big DIY person, I source out a lot of things. Only do what I feel comfortable with. There are many options for power now. Maybe consider a power station?

where do you buy the connectors from? Are they available on amazon? They seem to have 3 small pins row in middle 7 across for a total of 21 pin with the outer section seems to have two larger pins on both sides.
