This is the only review I've seen with the focus on privacy. I really appreciate that. Even better you directly tested out home assistant as that's what I use!
Seconded!
@@Kryojenix SAME
iRobot got bought out by Amazon, privacy is officially out the window now.
How do you get roborock on home assistant?
@@brandonhorn6218 I use home assistant in general. I actually did end up getting a roborock but haven't opened it yet. But if you search roborock in home assistant the integration will show up. It's under a different name tho and you need that other app to get the key.
The best comparison channel on the entire Internet! I cannot figure out how you are able to provide so much useful info, have great real world tests and present it all in a timely manner. Outstanding work!
Thanks Brett!
Great review! You missed a key privacy difference between the MaxV Ultra and the X1 Omni. The Omni docks with it’s camera facing out (viewing your home. The MaxV Ultra docks with the camera facing the dock once it’s done cleaning the mop.
Thank you, definitely good to know!
the best X1 omni vs S7 MaxV Ultra comparison video. To me the greatest selling point of the X1 over the rest is the auto heating function to dry the mopping pads and that to me is heading more towards full automation. For carpets, I will rather use a carpet cleaner to do the job instead of a robovac.
Ya... the heating function is actually a BIG deal which i am quite surprise most people miss out on when considering between the two...... It is common knowledge that if something is wet and it does not dry properly over time, it will start to smell.
now s7 also has auto heating function
I don’t know how you do it: every time I’m thinking about buying some technology, you upload a video about it within a couple of days! Thank you, very helpful as I haven’t decided on one yet.
Best comparison I have ever seen. Most tests does not include how the vacuum works without Internet. Huge thanks for that.
Thank you SO much for considering privacy along with the other review items. You appear to be one of the only reviewers who even cares that so many companies, including ones in China, are running cameras and microphones in our homes and sending unknowable data to cloud services. I'm with you on this one; these devices need to be self-contained or at least offer some testable description of how they use cloud services and how they manage data. To be legally accountable, the company will probably have to be incorporated in your home country as well.
As for me, I'll mop my own floors. It might even be less hassle than these complex robotic mops.
Seconded! For me it's either full permanent local control or elbow-time. Plus, there's the risk of one of these companies going Insteon-style legs-up, or being bought out and switching to a subscription service and/or even more potential eavesdropping.
Well you shouldn't have anything to worry about if you have nothing to hide 😇
Unless you work in the pentagon I'm sure you have nothing to worry about 😎
iRobot got bought out by Amazon, so expect the Terms & Conditions to change and them to be more invasive in the long run. Might as well stick to Roborock or Ecovac
@@jwhiskey534 as problematic as Amazon might be privacy wise, it’s still miles better than Chinese companies
Imagine the x1 omni base being able to hook up to a homes plumbing the same way a washing machine does, you would never have to fill or dump the water bins
That would be an awesome project
@@TheHookUp hopefully the next gen x1 omni will be able to overcome its 2 biggest negatives in my opinion, which are both be deal breakers for me.
1) tranist over a carpeted area to mop 2 diffrent rooms seperated by a carpeted room(without dragging the dirty mopheads on the carpet as it goes back to the base), & also be able to switch from mopping hard floors to vacuming carpeted floors without someone manually removing the mops.
2) be able to work & do so on a set schedule without connection to the internet.
@@joshua88236 I think the 2nd part of #1 and #2 are possible, but I don't see a way that it will be able to transit over carpet with the mops attached without a full redesign of the X1.
@@TheHookUp Narwal J1 has discharge option
The Chinese version has it already
A HUGE thank you for including the privacy section at the end. I think that discussing these concerns raises awareness on the part of consumers as well as vendors. Kudos.
About to buy and this was the most comprehensive comparison. Really appreciate the honesty. Leaning to S7 before , now confirmed.
Amazing review. All the detail (weighing water tanks, measuring air particulates, etc. ). You just don’t get that anywhere else. Great work!
Well to be fair, I saw this type of detailed review first on the Vacuum Wars channel. This one is a lot more detailed specially including the privacy part that to be honest is a little bit concerning to say the least. This is a great review, the best one I've seen so far about this robots. I finally ordered the X1 Omni since I don't have carpet, there's no way around the camera system so I'll just hope for the best which is not a smart thing to do with a China based company.
Impressive. Pretty in depth comparison, I love your nitpick opinions regarding the water tank handle, it really makes a lot of sense to it.
thank you for adding the privacy piece at the end. its something that's also really important to me and people are not often talking about.
I like your scientific methodology, subscribed! Also your privacy concerns match mine and I truly appreciate that, as no other reviewers goes into any depth on that. Also no one else weighed things to the gram, well done, you're a truly great reviewer!
Bought the Ecovacs X1 Omni 3 months ago and ended up returning it today for the iRobot J7+.
The problem over time with the auto empty dock/waste water, etc. meant the dust bin on the robot itself would keep a bunch of wet, damp waste product and it is just begging for mold/insects to start breeding. Technically I could avoid this by cleaning/washing it out after every mop/clean, but that really defeats the purpose of all this automatation, especially given how expensive it is.
AWESOME REVIEW! And awesome job. I love your additions of privacy tests. Please keep the great job!
I'm so glad you did the privacy score part at the end, more awareness about that sort of thing needs to be raised.
Like you I take security seriously and I don’t have any cameras inside the house. I’m glad you finished with security. Hopefully they’ll give us more local control options in the future. Thanks for the great review.
I'd love to see a vacuum that could connect to its app within the local network. Unfortunately, to do that you'd have to specifically allow the app to "find and discover devices on your local network", which may negate any privacy advantages.
A note about the Roomba's cloud requirement: it only supports local control from one source at a time, so either the iRobot app or Home Assistant, but not both at the same time. If you add the Roomba to Home Assistant, the iRobot app will fall back to cloud control, which won't work if you block it. So if you want fully local control, you'll need to pick either the iRobot app or Home Assistant, and if you're OK with the cloud being involved, you can get both.
Loved the review. Never thought about the cloud portion on a vacuum. Thank you.
Great review! I didn't expect the bonus regarding privacy at the end; it makes a difference.
That is the most thorough video I've ever seen! Great job you've been a really good help!
Awesome video!!! A ton of information straight to the point without any rambling. Thank you!
BRAVO! The privacy segment.
Thank you for including the in depth privacy testing at the end!
thank you so much for the local control section at the end!!!! this is fantastic. I have mainly hardwood floors and was about to go purchase the ecovacs when i saw your recommendation... but then when I saw that almost all of that functionality goes away when it is blocked from the internet, that becomes a huge NOPE for me. Manufacturers need to know that cloud connection should be an option for people who don't have the technical skill to use local control, but there should always be an option for local control of a device you own. Thanks again for such a thorough review and helping to educate consumers and pressure manufacturers!!!!
I haven't tested this with the X1, but it may work: github.com/torbjornaxelsson/bumper
Can't stop watching robot vacuum videos. It's becoming an obsession!
Thank you for your coverage of the privacy aspect of these devices.
Omg, thank you so much for this info. The most important for me to decide was this last cloud connection and privacy topic, so the winner is obvious.
Amazing review and great content! I ended up with the Roborock and I’m in love with it! I mainly didn’t choose the Omni due to the reviews of the mopping pad going flat after a while and then needing to put in washer to get them back to being fluffy. Defeats a lot of self automation there. The Roborock in my opinion is currently far superior!
another great review, as always very detailed. Thanks Rob! 😃
Rob, I love your videos. Keep up the excellent work Thanks
This is the most amazing comparison of anything I’ve ever seen
Always great content and great review! Keep up the great job
Thanks for the last section on privacy. I've ordered the Ecovacs X1 Omni and figured this would be the case, but the price I got for it was way too good to pass up in my country.
Here's hoping I can figure out a way to disable some of those features.
Phenomenal comprehensive reviews. Thanks for all that info.
Good information. Thanks for taking the time to make this video!
I love the small privacy point + home assistant (event if i don't have home assistant)
Thank you so much for such a great video and all the information! It has been absolutely useful!
Your carpet is PERFECT for those beautiful lines 🤩
It's like a freshly mowed lawn.
Just ordered the Roborock s7 Max V Ultra partially based on your review Rob(used affiliate link). Thanks for all you do!
Nice, I think you'll be impressed by it. I've had mine running every night since this review and it hasn't let me down yet.
More comparison videos need to be like this guy. It was refreshing to not have to skip ahead every 10 seconds to skip a basic knowledge refresher 👍👍👍
Well, iRobot was no gamechanger with their selfemptying station in 2018. Samsung had this already 2012 with the navibot sr8980. And it worked pretty well.
Dude! Love the detailed analysis
Yo Mr. Tait!!!! Best science teacher ever!! I’m so glad to see you doing great!!!!!!! Taco
Haha what's up Taco?
It's truly fantastic that you included the privacy and local control since many people are indeed concerned with privacy, I'm doing research before my first purchase of a robotic vacuum and this is the most important factor in my deciding process, even before it's cleaning ability ;)
What did you decide to get
@@lc9594 Roborock S7 I,m very happy with it. cleans well, mopping is a nice feature to keep your floors cleaner, works really well overall. I don’t leave stuff on the floor so it doesn’t get stuck, i’d recommend
@@dupaluba6374 From all the videos ive watched on the S7 MaxV Ultra I have been very impressed. The fact it can raise the mop to clean carpet is awesome. Is there any downsides to it besides it not being able to clean jelly off the floor really well? Because to me the S7 seems perfect.
@@CelebrityLyrics It probably would be perfect if not for the fact that it's a Chinese robot with a camera and a microphone which has to be connected to the internet at all times, so if you don't care about your privacy at all, about the fact that it's sending all your internet traffic to the chineese + somone can hack it, see and hear everything in your house then yea, it's perfect. I decided to buy the S7, not the maxV version, because it doesn't have a camera and you can set it up so that it's offline.
Great content as always! I have the EcoVac Deebot T8+ and have been looking to upgrade so this helped me narrow down my selection. I like EcoVac but I don't use my T8 for mopping for the same reason you described in your video for the X1. It kind of defeats the purpose of automation if you have to add/remove attachments everyday. Awesome video, keep up the good work!
Do you ever have issues with your T8+ bin not fully emptying? I'm glad they ditched the two port design on the X1 OMNI.
@@TheHookUp yes, most days I'm cleaning the bin. That is the main reason why I'm looking to upgrade haha
My plan is to use my T8+ for vacuuming only and dedicating the new omni to mopping.
@The Hook Up I would love to see a comparison for pet hair. My T8+ leaves clumps of per hair every time it transitions from a hard surface onto carpet. So, every runner, door mat, and bedroom we pick up a clump of hair on a daily basis 🙃
Thanks for adding the notes on privacy!
great video, love the emphasis on privacy. I am curious though, since tuber vacuumwars compared the Roborock and Ecovacs as well, and have different results on their mopping tests. Going to watch their video again to see where that difference may come from.
Very thorough video, valid points great comparisons, I agree on the camera concerns. I own the Roborock s7 plus. I like the smaller base and white color. 🙏👌
Compared to the X1 Omni Roborock fit a lot of functionality into the Ultra base without making it too huge.
@@TheHookUp I agree 👍 💯
Good god dude. So much info and research. Just gotta say good job sir.
I own a X1 omni and a j7+ . Usually the j7+ for vacuum and x1 for all the rest (also because it doesn't go on top of the carpets, except if I put away the mopping parts and I don't want to). As of today one thing I think is missing (for the X1) is the support for IFTTT or some platform like that. To be able to create scenarios and make them cooperate seamlessly. Other than that, using them in pairs solves most of my floor cleaning problems!
Are you happy with the Omni. I am thinking of getting one. I have sent Ecovacs several emails, asking questions, but they wont respond. This is putting me off buying the product. If they can't answer some questions to sell the product, what will their after sales be like?
@@DS-xw3qp yes I'm happy. Of course these robots will never replace fully an electric broom or even the manual work of cleaning a floor. But they can keep it clean enough, reducing the effort of thinking about it. From time to time, I still need to use the mop, but at least, most of the times, the floor is without dust and washed, without having to do anything.
Thanks for adding the Privacy scores.
Great review Rob. Thank you.
Thank you so much for testing functionality when blocked from the internet. It's a great privacy concern to have video/pictures of the inside of my home being sent who knows where. There is an open-source project to replace the Roborock's cloud dependency, but it looks like it only works with the older Roborock vacuums :(. I would suggest making a video on Valetudo, but it won't work with this vacuum.
@@3Dpoleproductions if you care about privacy, and we are talking smartphones, then you shouldn't run anything Android.
@@_TrueDesire_ Idiot , an android phone isn't taking video of people in their homes or mapping out the entire layout of a house like these vacuum robots are !
Nice overview of the premium segment. One thing I think it's missing is a noise level comparison.
Great review! You missed a key privacy difference between the MaxV Ultra and the X1 Omni. The Omni docks with it’s camera facing out (viewing your home). The MaxV Ultra docks with the camera facing the dock once it’s done cleaning the mop so that even if the camera were somehow remotely accessed it does not see anything unless the vacuum is deployed.
Hmmm good to know,thanks !
You cant see your house when Roborok is at base thats mean that NOONE can see your house when robo is at base .Privacy is important
Thanks so much for sharing with us such a detailed review!!Seems like Roborock Ultra is the best of the best especially in vacuuming? So excited to get mine today!😀
Thank you for your reviews ! Very helpful for those of us trying to decide on a product! Do you know if the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra or the Ecovacs have Multi-story support ?
Thank you for this good review, also the addendum on provacy. I'm asking myself about accessories availability, because it seems complicated to get accessories for Roborock and Ecovacs in my country...
i bought the s7 maxv ultra as soon as it launched. honestly i love it, but the battery drains quite quickly (as expected tho. i have it mop + vacuum first thing in the morning and last thing at night, and vacuum twice throughout the day). as a girl with long hair and a longhaired cat, i regularly have to clean it out and untangle our hair from the components lol. it's great as someone with a pet (picks up the litter that gets tracked everywhere constantly) and who often has guests over. it's so nice to not have to sweep constantly anymore lol, makes my cleaning routine much more manageable
Still happy 6 months later? Trying to decide which one I'm going to buy. Thanks
That's a real bummer about the privacy situation. The Evovacs looked pretty good up until that section.
Had a thought, the new version of the Roborock S7 has a higher suction output at 5100 vs 2500Pa yet they each have the same battery at 5200mah. Therefore, I'd assume the newer model at the higher suction wouldn't last as long as the lower suction on the S7 plus. Interesting.
Based on your review I’m going for the ECOVACS
Great review! thanks for your video!!
Always useful, yet my favourite part of the video was seeing Achebe, Machiavelli and friends. Sitting on The Prince I assume would be The Fountainhead? You should have named the vacuums "The Samsas", describing each of them and their treatment of the bugs on the carpet...
Fountainhead is on the bookshelf in the studio :)
I hope you can do a video testing the Dreametech L 10s Ultra. I will definitely watch it! Thanks a lot 😃👍🏻
That’s the best review by far!
Superb review, all the detail we need. And all the detail I didn’t know anyone would cover. Like privacy and home assistant integration (something I would have searched myself).
Super stuff thanks. Think I’ll get the X1 Omni
X1 OMNI is definitely the most innovative and impressive of the bunch.
Holy crap, this is like an obssessive detailed review...which is great and impressive !
Great review! Your review is the only one that discusses high pile carpet on CZcams, that is a thing… My new carpet is 3/4” tall and high density. My older ECOVAC T8 gets stuck, so looking for a new solution. I opted for the newly released J7 plus with the mop that auto rotates to the top of the vac when not in use. We will see how that does…
J7 Combo looks great, I love how much clearance it has for the mop. Let me know how you like it!
@@TheHookUp I have been playing with the new J7+ Combo robot and I wanted to pass along some observations of both lidar robots (ECOVAC T8) and the newer roomba J7+ Combo, I prefer the newer roomba overall. Lidar robots are more precise and have more efficient cleaning routes, but that's also the down fall of the ECOVACs lidar robots. Example, I do a 4 hour mapping run with my T8 robot, setup your rooms, schedules, etc... everything works great until you place a large amazon box on the floor in the same room as the robot dock, it thinks it is in a strange environment/can't locate itself and starts a new map. This is a BIG downfall of ECOVACs, it makes them almost unusable, and that's why most users complain about maps being blown away with ECOVACs. Roomba mapping system doesn't care about boxes, pet beds, etc and not seem like it will delete your map like my T8 did. It also like seems like the brush on the roomba doesn't get clogged up with hair like the T8 does. I work in commercial automation and love stuff like this (as you do) and wanted to pass this along as your reviews go deeper than most on youtube.
Love "the things they carried" by Tim O'Brien (as well as your others....)
My god, this dude is crazy good.
Thanks. This is one of the better reviews I've seen of these 3 - especially the mopping tests, though more realistic stain cleaning would have been nice. Having been a user of Roomba i7 + Bravajet M6, I agree that the iRobot's mapping functionality is not at all good when compared to Roborock's Lidar (I also have a Roborock S4). My Bravajet has horrible navigation and can't even find its way into some rooms. The Roomba battery life is inferior to the Roborock S4's and it (the Roomba) is very noisy. No more iRobot products for me. But the decision between Deebot and Roborock is a tough call.
If you look at other reviews, the s7 MAXV ultra is the superior option.
@@MrBlueCreeper Not sure about that. IMO the X1 Omni is superior in many ways to the S7 MaxV. For one, rotating pads are superior to the vibrating pad on the S7
@@elleryfg7853 however some report that the mopping system doesn’t work. Vacuum Wars usually loves Ecovacs products but he isn’t a big fan of the X1 because of the bad mopping system. Also the obstacle avoidance on the ROBOROCK is better. Ecovacs claims that it can see objects that are 2 inches in height (Amazon listing for the X1). ROBOROCK claims that it can see object that are 1.1 inches in height (Roborock’s official site). Next, people report that the X1 can’t climb on its own dock. The s7 MAXV has no issue. Finally, the app is buggy and unreliable on the x1. The ROBOROCK app never glitches. It’s up to you. You could take a chance on the X1 if you want, but I’ll probably go with the s7 MAXV.
@@MrBlueCreeper I already did take a chance on the X1 Omni. All those issues you mention are probably user error and also fixable through updates in the case of software or firmware. As you could see on this video the mopping capabilities of the X1 are superior to the S7 MaxV. And it makes sense rotating pads will always make a better job cleaning than just a vibrating pad. As for navigation, obstacle detection and app. All that is software and firmware. As you could see on this video too, the X1 performed with no issues at all. The only advantage of the S7 MaxV is the ability of raising the pad but that is not a big one since it won't avoid the carpet 100% and you are almost always going to get it wet or dirty if the pad has jelly on it like in the test. I would be glad to give you some feedback on the X1 Omni once I test it. In my case it has a pretty simple job since I don't have carpet but part of the house has a type of tile that's not smooth so I'll be looking forward to seeing how it performs there.
Good points plus x1 Omni has auto heating to dry mop.
Very impressive review!
Would be curious on the S7 or X1 what if the top half of the camera was taped over, Would it still avoid floor objects? I don't mind a camera viewing the floor but not whole room. Is there a way you can test either of these will pet hair or something more filling than rice to see how the auto empty functions. My N8 plus never auto empties and supports answer was to remove any pet hair manually and then let the auto empty get the rest.
great content as always. cheers
Hi What is the best if you only have tiled floors? Omni seems best with the mopping pads getting cleaned and dried and not stinking?
Can any of these mops work in multiple homes? Say for the use case of a house cleaner; could they carry the unit to a location they regularly clean, select that home and let the vacuum/mop work while the house cleaner makes the bed and cleans the dishes?
Rob excellent video as always! Have you checked out the Deebot 4 Home Assistant integration in HACs? Also any opinion on Valetudo firmware? Curious to hear your thoughts!
Deebot 4 hacs is what I’m using for the ecovavs integration, it still uses the cloud
So helpful!! Thanks.
Hey awesome video. Been looking at getting one of these but think I'll stick with my handheld vacuum, until perhaps an improved Omni vacuum. Have you heard about the reolink doorbell that should be coming out the 2nd part of this year? I'm really looking forward to it as it will be Poe etc, I'm sure you'll be reviewing it!
Other than the fact that the doorbell will be happening, I have no other details.
When Roborock S7 MaxV is blocked from the net/cloud, can it do 1) house cleaning by pushing a button on the using, and 2) automatic scheduled cleaning runs?
Does it have to be connected to the WiFi at all? I'm thinking if the initial setup requires it.
👍 for the privacy review! ++++
These little bots are so cool!
Subbed because you looked into the privacy issues. From what I understand they both have a ground-level LIDAR as well like the Ozmo T8 and N8 Pro have. Perhaps if one were to disable the camera and mic but not the laser they would work well enough?
Yeah, the the S7 MaxV and X1 OMNI are both combination VSLAM and LIDAR robots. The T8 and N8 pro have true detect (the front facing lasers) which I've found to be almost as effective as VSLAM for object avoidance with the added benefit of increased privacy.
@@TheHookUp supposedly X1 Omni has True Detect as well. I wonder if one were to disable the camera if it would still be effective.
Just moved into a new home. Main floor is all hardwood. Upstairs has new carpet, medium to high pile. We do not have any pets. Multi floor support not required, keeping the main floor swept and dusted is the main goal. We can handle vacuuming the carpet the old fashion way. I definitely require integration into home assistant. Privacy is a bit of a concern so local control is preferred but not required. What would be your top suggestions for an inexpensive option (sub $600) and an expensive option ($600+).
Also have you tried out the eufy robovac x8 hybrid?
I haven't tried the X8, they keep offering to send me one, but I can't imagine being able to give a good review for a $500 vacuum without an auto empty base.
My recommendation for a $600+ option based on your needs would be a Roborock S7+ ($949): amzn.to/3lunCgz
and sub $600 would be a Dreame Z10 ($479): amzn.to/3PC4ZFh though the home assistant integration for it still isn't working 100%.
Great video . Thanks Rob !
Any thoughts on the dreametech w10 ?
I don't own a dreame w10, but not having a auto empty bin is a big issue for me. If I had to choose between auto empty bin and auto wash mop I'd choose the bin every day of the week.
dreame = fake specs, no recommend
Me half way through the video: Huh the roomba isn't doing too well...
Me after the offline testing: Oh neat, looks like the roomba is the best option.
Great video as always. The next stage of this technology is units that you can hook into existing whole-house-vacuum systems. That will totally be the future, even though I've only ever seen a handful of homes with whole-house vacuum systems.
I bet that could be something you could DIY rig, pipe the auto empty bin into your whole house vacuum.
Also, I knew I was going to like the roomba home assistant integration when I read this in the docs:
"The Roomba’s MQTT server only allows a single connection. Enabling continuous mode will force the App to connect via the cloud to your Roomba. More info here"
Basically home assistant connects via MQTT and then prevents any other connections. Perfect.
Could you do a comparison of the ecovacs with the narwhal? Was sad not to see the latter included in this review. (Some people don’t have carpet!) this review was great otherwise! I especially loved the privacy mention towards the end
I reviewed the Narwhal (T10, not the newer Freo) in this video: czcams.com/video/WVC6pZ9F5f4/video.html
very good video. Extremely thorough and very helpful. But why can't out of all the manufacturers one of them make a single product that completely protects your privacy and won't smear dog poop all over the house?
Typically, bathroom floors are somewhat lower than the other floors, to prevent any water spill from the bathroom (with a drain as per technical building codes in most countries) reaching the rest of the house. I would like to know if the S7 MaxV can deal with doorsteps at all, and if so - what are the limitations? Thank you for the review, I hope doorstep / low obstacles will be covered in future reviews.
It can climb up to 2cm high step as I remember.
One user shared his opinion after using auto washing robot : "The spinning brushes are not that great. I have the Narwal T10 (similar to bissle) they get smelly very fast even with the auto wash base I have".
From this, we do understand how important HOT AIR DRYING is that X1 Omni equiped with to make base station and mopping pad quickly dry and prevent them from getting bacteria and odor!
Narwal also has hot air drying.
@@TheHookUp Narwal T10 that is available in US market have no hot air drying.
@@TheHookUp From what i can see the Narwal does not have hot air drying just a Fan. The new Narwal Fero does clearly state that it has it.
lol at 13:21 😂 The Roborock freaking out. Get this thing off me!
Also I'll add that after much research and watching hours of CZcams reviews, I've decided to purchase the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra. 😎
Great choice, I think you'll love it.
I am an IT guy and privacy concerns are also on my mind. When I get my Roborock, I'll perform some network monitoring using my Sophos firewall to see exactly what it is sending. I hear the Roborock community is very dedicated and their support team is very responsive and actively listening. So I think it'll be interesting to find out the results. If I remember to, I'll come back here to report my findings.
Roborock is the overall king
Is the irobot the winner if you don't want mopping functions at all? With rugs covering a lot of our hardwood it doesn't seem worth it to me. Thanks!
Yes
I appreciate your emphasis on privacy. Will you consider testing the vacuums using Mimic 3, which is a local based open source neural speech system and operates on Mykroft and Linux? Mimic 3 operates off-line.
I'm not sure what you mean. How would an open source local voice assistant be able to operate these vacuums? There would need to be some sort of an intermediate hub (like home assistant) for that.
I noticed that your results compared to vaccum wars results about the mop cleaning ability of the ecovacs is pretty large. I think he just let the stains dry more, to simulate a 24h run instead of "cleaning up after making a mess" which helps the systems a bit.
Yeah, I saw the Vacuum Wars video, I was pleasantly surprised by the Ecovacs X1 results, and I even compared it with the Narwal (that footage didn't make it into the video), and the X1 did slightly better than the Narwal, and in my last video the Narwal was clearly better than the S7+.
@@TheHookUp Kinda surprised with the "bad" results of the S7+. Haven't really tested anything specific but I stopped manually cleaning the floor basically (with the S6 MaxV running daily).
Just noticed one small issue with the S6 mop holding assembly:
It tends to "splash" in areas were the robot has to traverse a bumb between two rooms.
I traced that back to the spring loaded elements letting water ingress into the hollow inside.
If there's enough vibration it just leaks out again in one big puddle.
Solution is easy: Just drill a couple of holes on the side which faces the mop and the water will just run down into it, instead of running down the sides :)
I wonder if the mopping feature only works with water or if it is possible (and a good idea) to put soap in the water tank.
It would be a use at your own risk kind of thing. The Ecovacs and Roborock specifically say not to use cleaning solution, but I've heard they are both developing their own solution for use, so it must be possible.
Hi thank you for this video. With $700 price difference between S7+ and S7 max, as far as i understand the major difference is that i have to wash the mop pad manually. Does it make sense to buy S7+? Am i missing more?
I’m not sure I’d buy any of them right now. Lots of new versions were just announced at CES which will cause prices on previous generations to drop drastically over the next month or two.
@@TheHookUp thank you I will wait
