    I broke one of these down in my local gun store yesterday and did not use the special tool. It came apart and back together again just fine with no problem. I did not even know about the tool until I watched this video. I saw the gun in the case, asked the sales guy if I could try it, and he allowed me to disassemble and reassemble it. I would have never known about the little tool if it was not presented in this video.

    For what it's (general FYI) worth I bought the EMP in 9mm about a month ago and have run 500 rounds through it without any failure at all. I had heard and read on-line many horror stories, but I took it from the store, cleaned and oil it and started shooting Magtec 124g through it and today passed my 500th round, Now to start fooling around with some self defense ammo...

    If you don't have the money I suggest not holding this gun at the gun shop. I did that today, and it feels amazing in the hand. I do not have the money for this pistol, but I will be buying it, ha!

      kendo4242 I felt the same way, then I went to Buds online, and purchased it with their 90 day layaway. All you have to do is put down 20% initially, then pay it off at your leisure before the layaway period expires. I only buy through Buds. They also have lists of approved shipping places which make transactions extremely fast.

    Bought one of these and I love it, 500 rounds without a problem and extremely accurate. BUT, if you are buying it for concealed carry be aware that the extended magazine makes that virtually impossible. The mag will either print or snag no matter how you carry it with the possible exception of a shoulder holster. According to the forums Springfield has been made aware of this but so far, no flush fitting mag. Anyway I have a very expensive gun that I can't use for the purpose I bought it for, hopefully Springfield will produce 8 round mags for it.

    • @SeymourPettigrew
      @SeymourPettigrew Před 5 lety

      Bob Cobb mines doesn’t print at all. I had the guys at Alameda Arms out of Texas, make me a rig to carry appendix. I added a wedge made of knee pad material and Velcro and even with summer clothing you cannot see it. Hip carry will conceal as well if you add a wedge to press the firearm towards your body.

      @@l.o.r410 I've had mine for about 1 year in CA. I have found that due to the steep feed ramp on this gun it does not like the Hornady Critical Defense rounds! I don't carry those. I think it's the "caulking like" tip! They have given me numerous FTF's! (Failure is not an option for CCW!!!) Speer GDHP functions for me flawlessly.(I also reload Speer 124gr HP to carry) I love my EMP (I bet my life on it) and it "IS" my daily carry! Make sure ur rounds function flawlessly b4 u carry it! BTW much better than 3 Glocks!!!

    Great video; I own the Range Officer Compact 45 ACP and truly love it! SA makes fine pistols and looks like this will definitely be added to my collection of 1911's. As an old, retired, senior citizen, I'm always on the lookout for a female friendly pistol (small hands).

    I picked my 40 S&W EMP up on Tuesday. I sent it back to Springfield Armory (at their suggestion) yesterday. The trigger was so gritty and almost felt like a bad two-stage trigger that I couldn't live with it. I compared it to four other 1911's I own (including two of which are also Springfield Armory's) and all four of them were crisp and broke at 4.5 - 5 lbs, depending upon the gun. I've never had a trigger job done on any of them either. A $1250 1911 should have at least as good a trigger as 4 other sub-$1000 guns. The good news is that SA's customer service can't be beat.

    • @Mercury1955
      @Mercury1955 Před 6 lety

      People do your research first- The S&W is series 80 trigger. Four extra parts so it's no wonder it felt gritty. The only S&W without it (I think) are from the performance center.

    • @porkfatrulz9337
      @porkfatrulz9337 Před 5 lety

    Nice video, nice shooting and nice pistol -- as it should be for that price. I can almost see the point of this for competition shooting etc but is the 1911 trigger, SA feature worth a bit more than 2X what a comparable XDS goes for? I've got the XDS 4.0 in 9mm and find it a nice (and flawless) shooter with only a tad less capacity (depending on magazine0. Thoughts on the two?

    I heard that there are jamming problems when using hollow point ammunition. That when using hollow point ammo you must slap the magazine to move all the rounds to the front to prevent jamming. How true is that?

    Hey Nathan I'm local and in your business weekly. I've read a lot of reviews stating ejector and broken firing pin issues. I am looking at a used one, one of the originals in blue box and was curious what your opinion is now concerning the EMP?

    • @ArkansasArmory
      @ArkansasArmory  Před 4 lety

      SgtSABE Mine has held up well and we have one in the rental case that has held up well. I think guns are like any mechanical device and they can all have issues from time to time. Issues are the exception rather than the norm. Springfield has always stood behind their products, so if you have an issue they are going to take care of it.
      It’s not my primary carry gun. I enjoy it, but carry a different pistol day in and day out

    It's a nice gun. But Springfield needs to get their crap together and start manufacturing that firearm properly for the money that gun sells for. It does not have front strap checkering. Big manufacturing mistake. If you buy a Kimber, that is virtually identical in size and features, it will have front strap checkering and lower trigger gaurd checkering for the same price. Front strap checkering is a Huge asset to the gun's usability. Obviously, Springfield Armory is cutting corners and shorting the consumer to make more profit. Buy a Kimber

    • @Mercury1955
      @Mercury1955 Před 6 lety +2

      Wrong the Kimber is series 80 with four extra parts in the trigger causing extra friction/drag. This gun is better than any Kimber or Sig 1911.
