Yeah considering he worked with Robert Downey Sr. (For anyone who doesn't get the reference, RDJ's dad was an infamous druggie who introduced his own son to drugs)
Totally agreed, especially for someone who took the world by storm when he was so young! No anti-ageing stuff, no facelift, no alcohol/drug/anger issues...He's even been married to the same person for more than 30 years. Wonder if he's extremely mentally stable, and/or he's simply enjoying being an actor as a job, not as the enabler of fortune and fame.

I remember when COBRA KAI was announced and I thought "Oh, that'll be cute for a bit of nostalgia for my generation..." I had no idea it would be a real show and actually become as good as it is.

I was resistent to watch Cobra Kai, it just didn't look that interesting to me. But I decided to give the first episode a shot because I was bored. I never expected to binge the 2 seasons in one sitting. It's actually soo good.

@@carnage1284 it was actually pretty sloppy, techniques such as an uraken (back fist) were shown doing an upwards motion. This never happens as it ruins the power of the technique. The only techniques I can say Ralph actually did good on was the kicks. However, the crescent and hook kicks were sloppy. So I’ll say just the Mae Geri (front kick) and mawashi Geri (round kick) were the only good kicks. The movies also didn’t showcase bunkai, the practical application of their katas. This would have made for a much better and more realistic technique than the crane technique. Over all I’d give it a 2/10 on the karate scale. Do you have any experience in karate? Thanks!

If you watch his acting closely in The Karate Kid, you realize what a remarkable job he did with Daniel LaRusso. Macchio doesn't get nearly the credit he deserves for that performance. He's a natural!

Because of The Karate Kid, I grew up to become a martial artist, then an instructor, then a business owner. I have ran my own karate school for almost 13 years now and have been teaching for almost 20. Thanks Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita. I love my life!

Ralph seems like he's just a level headed guy and he's obviously a professional and that's huge for a likeability factor.
True what he says about Cobra Kai. It’s the nuances that makes the show so great. Your allegiance does shift. Daniel can be arrogant, Johnny can be likable, even Kreese has motivations that are understandable given his background. And of course the homage to the original films is great. You can really tell it is made by fans!

It’s always nice for actors to embrace who they are best known for. He never bristled at people knowing him as the karate kid and always seemed truly grateful for the impact a role he played 35 years ago is still going strong.
When he was younger in an interview, he didn’t sound keen on a second move. I bet he was glad he did. Never stopped loving karate kid and now the cobra Kai has brought back all the good memories 🥰

Cobra Kai is one of the best 80's homages, and I've been having a blast watching it. I was so excited to see Macchio and Zabka reprise their roles, and then Martin Kove comes back too! It rocks! Also it's neat how both characters are still stuck in the 80's in their own ways, and the soundtrack matches. All in all, just an amazing series.

First 2 series- absolutely. The needless violence and all the “illegal” stuff ruined the 3rd- for me and quite a few mates anyway
