Cơm Bình Dân Bảo Trinh- A variety of dishes ready to be paired with a plate of rice piled high. No menu here so you will have to be ready to point and choose. I must say, even for me there were many dishes which I had not eaten before. Getting in here with Chris and the friendly staff was a lot of fun, as I was able to learn so many new dishes and try some of my (now) new favorites.

So much for that last defense of "Vietnamese food vendors beating back Western fast food franchise" issue in saying VN street food has only a few dishes. This place has a huge spread and variety, and they still serve the food faster and less expensive, with better tasting food that are cooked with freshly purchased ingredients that morning. McDonald and BK already struggle to compete with the banh mi and pho eateries, can you imagine being compared to these neighborhood Com Binh Dan places?
Max's body is American, but his soul is Vietnamese. Max spoke very cute Vietnamese.
Cơm Bình Dân is something that's hard to explain because the foods are classic almost same as homemade dish but it taste way different ....

Hello Max, there's 1 dish is usually served for com binh dan which maybe you want to give it a try next time. It's a pumkin soup. One of my favourite is canh khoai mo (purple yam soup), if you can find it, give it a try. We are working on getting into VN so maybe we can take you to try other awesome Vietnamese food that I grew up on. Keep up the good work.

Love the variety. They presentation is appetizing and somehow distinct from how such places present food in Indonesia and Philippines. Thailand is slightly different too. I love how this is so Vietnamese. I miss it.

I want to correct your Vietnamese a little. "Fish head" is "đầu cá (lóc)" not "cá (lóc) đầu". Anyway, your Vietnamese accent is so good and cute. I love the way you talk with the owner in Vietnamese. Many foreign vloggers cannot do it. Great video! This is true Vietnam. We can find "cơm bình dân" everywhere in Vietnam and it's for everyone.

I'm not big on sweet sauces either however, i discovered a sweet garlic fish head dish that's to die for. I haven't had it since last year and the craving is REAL. The sound in this video was a little off at times otherwise, very solid video.👍 That was a feast those ladies prepared. Each dish with its own unique flavors. I love that about Vietnamese cuisine. Korean foods seem to have the same profile. Gochujang, red pepper flakes onion and soy sauce. Don't get me wrong, I love Korean foods however, there isn't much creativity 👏
Korean food is heavy. Not sure why it's as popular as it is. Vietnamese food is fresh and light. All the fresh herbs and veggies makes it amazingly fresh tasting (unlike Korean and Indian where everything is cooked down).
