The mindset "I GET to do..." trick especially helps me with laundry and dishes. I get to do laundry because my family is blessed with clothes to wear. I get to do dishes because we are blessed with food to eat. I read long ago about a woman who was always angry about her husband's laundry on the floor, and then he passed away and she realized she missed picking up after him. The mess often means that we have people around us that we love and are able to serve.
Idk a recent OP, but I've heard it as "I choose to... in order to" about 20 yrs ago.
i was with you until literally the last word cause im nobodyâs servant (ok apart from maybe satan /s) and while yes, itâs a good idea to appreciate people around you, you absolutely arenât obliged (and shouldnât) SERVE anyone
This comment hit a spot in my heart â€ïž
There is nothing unethical about trying to help your child with something they dislike that much.
I think youâre brilliant for coming up with it!
Homework hack: my son hates school work. So we do the homework and then I tell him let's play you are the teacher and then he teaches me how to do things. Then I also often pretend to be the uninterested naughty student, and he has to try and get me to listen and stay focused. He loves this part and we laugh another! He also gets to 'sign off my work'. Getting him to teach me seems to have worked really well.
I love this idea! xx
I did exactly this but with Flashcards! â€ïž
That's brilliant!! My son is only 2 years old but I really hope that I remember this hack when he is in school đđ»
Sounds genius thanks for sharing
As a teacher, this is brilliant because by him teaching you, he is recalling what he's learned therefore the knowledge is more likely to stick and he won't forget! That's why, for example, history teachers knowledge so many days because they repeatedly teach them year after year!
I literally can't understand how cutting your own child's nails in a way that reduces their stress is unethical? đ€ŠđŒââïž Really? ... I think it's genius. I have 4 boys Emily.. and have been following you since I was pregnant with my 4th (Jake) he's just a little younger than Jackson. Reading to eachother is amazing! It's creates just a bond. Thanks for your amazing videos xx
I don't understand it either. When I was pregnant with my first child, I read that the easiest way to trim babies' nails is when they're asleep. It reduces so much stress for both parent and child especially when the child is so fearful about it regardless of age.
I work a full time job and someone said to me recently, âpeople expect you to work like you donât have kids and be a mum like you donât workâ and I thought thatâs so true! So until society catches up and things are more balanced these mum hacks will help me!
A couple things happened unintentionally that arenât âhacksâ I guess but could be - we are always complimenting each other and itâs rubbed off on my 4yr old such that he openly tells me if he really likes a dress I am wearing or new sunglasses. It really warms my heart and I realised itâs because we tell him how much we like his things and each other! Similarly, our tot has somehow picked up gratitude! He is thankful for things and even small things he tells us he is thankful we could do it or that we gave something to him. Itâs wonderful đđđ
The mindset adjustment can be paid forward too. At the end of the day when all my kids' toys needed put away l would ask them, "Would you like me to help you pick up?". lt taught them: 1/ Picking up was their responsibility, and 2/ lt's nice to offer help to each other.
I love the nail cutting when they are asleep my daughters and Granddaughter do it this way as well ! Itâs a great idea !
Sadly it's never worked on my son tried several times since he was born now he's 4.5 he's the wiggly type though
Yep, this hack never worked for me either, because my baby was such a light sleeper. She would wake up and fuss. After several unsuccessful times of doing this, I find it much easier to clip her nails when she is distracted my đș
I have a school pickup alarm. My husband laughs at me and calls it the âdonât forget your kids alarmâ đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Me too but my husband has them also just in case.
Omg I do too and my husband teases me the same way lol
Omg, so do I hahah we also call it the don't forget the kids alarm hahah x
I do the same đ
I have one too. đ
Iâm not a Mum yet but I have a special playlist on which I save videos like this for the future. Such great hacks, thank you Emily!
My child was just sick and we did the fluid challenge I saw on your channel. She is three and actually said âmom I think I need more liquid.â It helped us get her rehydrated and avoid the hospital, which is so full in our area due to Covid.
I love the concept of a 'non negotiable' thing a day
Thanks so much hun! What would yours be? xx
Thank you. Watching this actually makes me feel a little bit better about learning to find ways to manage as a mum especially with more than one. Iâve just had my first and Iâve been feeling so overwhelmed, I didnât think I would manage with more than one. Videos like these just make me feel so much more confident and motivated to find ways to organise myself for the years ahead. Honestly, thank you.
Thank you so much for watching, so glad it made you feel better. It gets much easier as they get bigger xx
Squirt of mumâs perfume is really comforting on a cotton hankie in your childâs pocket when theyâre having a wobble going to school. They can have a sniff without anyone knowing x
Love that you bounce with the boys Emily 𧥠Itâs a great time to chat or be silly together. It sounds like the modern equivalent of putting on a baseball mitt and playing catch together. The boys will definitely remember these times with mum fondly. Have a great week đđ§Ą
Always kept a sweet in the first aid bag too. Itâs amazing how one helps to take their mind off a bump or a graze!
I cut my baby's nails at night but my older ones don't mind. I don't think there is anything unethical about cutting their nails as they sleep. It is probably safer than having to fight them and you are taking care of them, not hurting. Love the mindset shift with "I get to"
I also can only cut my daughter's nails when she's asleep. 20 minutes later thanks to you!
Ah amazing Leticia xx
My kids would sleep through a bomb crashing next to our house, but whenever I touch them they're right awake đ
i used to cut my daughter`s nails the same way til she was 1,5 years old, then we started to learn cutting nails normal way but it was like one day cuple of nails, other day - more... now she`s almost 4 and it`s not a big deal))
Thanks Emilly....I have a hack that I use during school days...the night before I take a tray and I put all the stuff they need to use for breakfast e.g. bowls, spoons, cereals, vitamins, my te cup and teabag, etc...so in the morning I don't need to run around the kitchen to get the stuff...this saves me a lot of time as I have 2 children and one who is 12 has autism...
Just added a new member to my family so these tips are going to be a lifesaver! Sometimes it's so easy to feel overwhelmed but litle changes and hacks are gonna make all the difference!
Love, Love the Mindset Switch!!
Excited to try this when I am feeling Overwhelmed or Negative. Thanks So Much Emily for all the time you put into helping others.đđ„°đ
That is sooo kind how you trim their nails. You are just thinking of their well-being. Love your Vlogs Always!â€ïž
So not unethical! Anything to be able to get you through the day đ my mum once removed stitches from my brothers chin while he was asleep because he refused to let the nurse anywhere near him, love your videos Emily â€ïž
You can make your alarms for specific days of the week. When setting a new alarm, under ârepeatâ select the days you want it to go off. So you can just select certain days if say you donât do the school run every day or you donât want it going off at the weekend
Love your stuff Emily! Well done on being so real!
I absolutely loved this video Emily, thanks for sharing x
You are my non negotiable part of the day ,when you post I have to watch no matter how busy I am . Amazing tips Emily thank you â€

Oh my goodness!!! The weighted buggy!!! I wish I had thought of that when I had little ones!!! And I will definitely use the fluid challenge! Thatâs very clever!! These are all such great hacks! Thank you!
I'm super new to this channel, I found it just a few days ago when I was searching for more British CZcamsrs to watch (seriously, why is it so hard!) but I'm so pleased I found this channel! It's really uplifting, and I love some of the little 'hacks' shared.

Thank you so much Emily ! You are so motivational ! Your you tube channel has been my search engine whenever I have an issue with cleaning, potty training, hacks etc for more then 3 years !
Your number 1 fan from Malta ! X
I love these ideas with 2 sheets. AWESoME!!!â„ïž
If you have girls packing a sundress in your car is easy & a lifesaver!! I also always have a plastic bag in my car. Another hack is juice boxesâŠ.pull the corners up and have them hold on to those instead of squeezing the box and spilling it.
And for those of you with kids who donât like wearing socks or the socks are itchy etc just let them wear the socks inside out!!! No strings or bumps to bother them!!!
I have my kids pick their outfits out every Sunday and I steam their clothes and have everything set for the week of what they are going to wear and it makes things easier during the week âŠno morning melt downs of what they want to wear.
I also always have my kids brush their teeth before putting on their school clothesâŠIâd rather wash their pjs than have a school shirt ruined with toothpaste in the morning.
I no longer have babies but I learned that you donât need a changing pad just wipes and a diaper & just use the paper towels in the bathroom to line the diaper changing station.
Love the sock tip!! đ Thanks for sharing!
I love the laundry basket hack for tidying. I also love the frozen smoothie hack. I bought a little toddler friendly silicon ice lolly mould and found it great for this sort of thing. My toddler loves his smoothie lollies
am i the only one who isn't a mom but loves to watch these kinda of videos
I love your channel so much
Although Iâm not a mum
You bring so much positivity and smiles
Wow.. đ€Ż The mindset flip may be a game changer for those of us stuck in a bit of a negative rut!! Thank you so much for sharing!
Wow love all your hacks brilliant vlog x
Loved the video thanks for the tips Emily xx
I always did the fluid challenge. Itâs so good hydrating them after throwing up. I also did Brat too xx
Loved these especially the cello-tape / Velcro one đđ» as for cutting childrenâs nails asleep I remember doing that with my son when he was a baby as when he was awake he would constantly pull away or try and grab the scissors! Oh and the dry face cloth when washing hair too worked so well â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
Such a helpful video, purchased quite a few things via your link already! I couldnât see a link for the triple storage box in your bootâŠ.looks very sensible. Thank you for being bringing such amazing content. You are a joy to watch.
Emily you are a wonderful mom. The boys are so lucky to have you for a mom. Great hacks. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Emily. Am here catching up and am glad i came. These are my take home tips:
1. Baskets lots of baskets
2. Lay everything out the previous evening
3. Make it a race (use the boys competitive nature to your advantage. I have two boys though one is still small. Can't wait for him to get bigger so i can use this trick)
4. Have one non negotiable self care thing (i would call it an irreducible minimum lol for my Kenyan friends if you know you know)
5. My eye opener - Cut nails at night. This is going to be a game changer for me. My last born hates to have his nails cut.
6. Mindset trick - "I get to do ............" instead of" i have to do ........" am lucky. Others don't get to do it. This is so powerful.
7. 10 minutes of undivided attention. (As a working mom am always feeling so guilty because i don't get to spend so much time with my kids.
8. Siblings help. (My 10 year old could help me in reading for my 3 year old. This is genius)
Thanks a lot for sharing these wonderful tips. I had to get myself a cup of Limuru tea to sip on as i soak up all these tips.
Thanks for a very helpful video! I already utilize some on your list, but I will totally utilize the non-negotiable daily self-care tip. That is genius! â„ïž
Love the âI get toâ phrase def helped turn the school run chore today into something I feel lucky to be able to do x

Hey Emily, hope youâre all well Iâm happy, good and well thank you good evening love this 20 everyday use mum ideas video. I have really enjoyed these 20 everyday use mum ideas. They are such lovely and wonderful everyday use ideas too. I thought the school run alarm is a great one because it will just remind you to do some errors outside or pick the children from school. My favourite everyday use ideas was the Get everything ready the day or night before idea is so lovely because it helps you to get organised for the mornings and week too. The pens on a string is such a brilliant idea so you know all the pens that would need is all in place with you. Another great one is freezing kids smoothies to make into lollies. Those smoothie lollies are so nice and refreshing as well. I really like this basket everyday use idea because it made me suddenly thought I use baskets and containers to put all of my essentials and things I would definitely use or need on a everyday of the week basics too. I love using baskets they are so simple and easy to throw and put things into the baskets all the time. I love the trampoline as well. I like your multi - coloured striped pastel jumper and your navy dress. It looks lovely on you. One of my own everyday use idea that I would love suggesting to you is practise becoming happy and better everyday of the week see if you are really happy for the whole day as well.
