- So I don't think I have put as much effort as I would have liked but the video ended up fine in my opinion.

It is hilarious that the guards let you pass if you have a sword in your hand. They are like "This guy seems to be in a hurry to do some serious business, better not stop him" :D
I played this back when it was new, and it made a big impression. Even so, I'm amazed that people are still making videos about it after all this time.
And we're still watching it, even though the knowledge from this video doesn't make any money or impress women.
Not just videos but mods too, funny that German game is really big mainly in Poland and Russia.

I remember when Gothic first came out, my dad would play it as we just sat back and enjoyed the show with a hand full of popcorn lol. Those were good times.
If you run past all the golems and then approach them from behind, you don't need to buy fire scrolls for the ice golem. You nail down the fire golem with the 8 lightning bolt scrolls that you can buy from cronos, and then for the ice golem you just use the heart of the fire golem.

you can make your life a hell of a lot easier if you get the shrink scroll to use on the stone golem.
it's not too hard, either:
when you start a new game, go to the opposite side of the bridge where you get up to the "secret plateau", turn right just after the bridge and you'll be able to skyrim your way up the mountain. once on top, turn left, pass the bandit camp, and jump down once you see the valley. the goblins hit like trucks but are easily outkited. after you're finished, run straight into the old camp's direction (yeet yourself down a cliff doing the block falldamage cancel if need be).

For getting the Orc hammer, I always did it in one try. The trick is to avoid fighting the blood hounds and avoid them as much as possible by using jumps + running till you reach the room containing the Orc hammer. Once you get to the Orc hammer room, there should be at least 3-4 blood hounds following you. Quickly open the door and get it. The hounds won't get pass the door, so just kill them with your bow by shooting through the opened door. If you want to exploit the game, save and load the game before opening the door. The loading will remove the aggressive status of the monsters, hence not attacking you immediately and give you ample time to open the door.
there is also a way to get around the hounds by secret climbing passage
If you want a powerful weapon early in the game, and you don't mind the gory methods, there is a very simple way.
Go to the south gate in the Old Camp, the one where Mordrag is at the beginning, go out, go up the opposite hill that leads to the orc lands.
At a certain point you will meet a group of four orc warriors, approach until one of them draws his weapon and chases you.
At that point take him to the Old Camp, if he meets Jackal usually the orc kills him and dies immediately after being killed by the other guards, at that point take Jackal's Bonebreaker (54 damage), otherwise arrived at the height of Thorus, the orc will be attacked by Thorus and the others and will die, at this point take the orc's ax (50 damage)
In both cases, immediately go to the Swamp Camp, at the entrance turn right, go around the courtyard where Baal Orun is and head towards the Swamp, immediately on the left you will see a Templar who is alone, attack him with the ax orc, after he is dead take his two-handed light sword (70 damage)
Here, you now have the most powerful weapon that you can get yourself in Chapter 1, clearly you are not trained to use it and you will not be able to have training until Chapter 3, but already in this way you will be able to knock out almost anyone.
Or you can go to Xardas golems and in front of them is corpse with Old battle axe (67dmg 36str).
Actually, templar's blade it's not the best weapon in chapter 3, Okyl has one with 96 damage. Anyways i think the best weapon in chapter 1 it's scar's sword (1H).
You can get a two handed trainer if you join as mercenary in chapter 1.

great work! i have done a lot of chapter 1 exploids with strength or dexterety builds by just farming all possible xp from all living things plus quest-xp. took me longer but was fun. if grinding in games is fun, gothic 1 must be the best rpg!

5:40 I know the pain of trying to defeat those bloodhounds in ch.1.
I tried to do it with build that was a mix of archer and mage. Yeah, I know, ranged and ranged again is not the most balanced build.
I didn't manage to beat them at all. After trying all ways of sneaking, parkour, ranged attacks, lure other foes to this area, etc I start to trying what didn't really make sense IMO.
So, I transformed in a meatbug. The idea was to climb walls I couldn't climb as a man. I failed and slide down to end just in front 2 bloodhounds. They didn't care at all. Bloodhounds don't eat the universal snack of the colony.
So you need 2 meatbugs transformation scrolls and lockpicks and the skill to open the door in the cave before being detect. The bloodhound are too wide to go pass the door. If you got in before they killed you, you are safe. The second meatbugs transformation scroll is for the way back. You may get out there by other methods like hammering your way out if you are skilled enough.
Just an FYI: You can kill Blood Hounds very easily once you have access to the Ball Lightning Rune, just spam the attack hotkey for a shot without any mana used (also works with the Infinity Stone of Fire and Wind as well as the Storm of Fire and Storm Fist Rune). The Ball Lightning attack will stun the Blood Hound and deal very good damage, after 5-6 hits it should go down. Also works well against Lurkers (which can't be damaged by a Fire Ball without mana), Lizards, Minecrawlers and Humans.

Once i tried to get Scar's sword in chapter one, and i did it and actually used it lol. It was such a fun run.
The most extreme thing that i tried is a full dexterity build and only bow and arrow. Man it was fun to have a group of orcs melt in front of me before they even manage to touch me. And this in chapter 2 or 3, when cavalorn startz selling the real s**t. I used the Demon's bow or something like that (it was a long time ago).
Have anyone else noticed that if you kill your own summons, you gain xp? :))
I was able to start as a warrior and switch to mage midgame basically with this "feature".
loved the death compilation! :D in a couple of months i gonna play gothc 1 again, i will teach you how to get a fireball and ice block in low levels. oh wait! i commented to soon, you already did that in 8:27 haha, nvm then discard it.
not sure what version you playing at, but you can run to the troll at the beginning of the game with black goblines and get the "shrink monster" and try to use it on the stone golem. on the newer versions it's patched.

I can't take credit for it. Most of it was from ymfah, but I tend to change it up so it's not straight up copying. Looking for my own editing style
On one of my runs, i did played as mage. But man, 20 min to kill golem is an giant effort. I can give yo only one like, sadly , but you deserved 10 000 bigger one.
yoink the shrink scroll from the troll (you'll have to be quick to avoid the goblins but it's way easier than this and shouldn't take more than 3 or 4 tries) and you can skip both the orc hammer and the 20 minute clobbering.
if you manage to cast the spell he's gone in 4 hits from the bloodfly stinger (never tried it with a pickaxe or something but I assume it won't take more than 6, 7 hits)

gothic 1 best run with shadow - firemage - watermage - darkmage can reconment it if you like suffering because of fricking mana bar
Maybe not so much charging spells such as wind fist, fireball or firestorm, can be cast for 0 mana if you use minimal charge. It work great with wind/storm fist because those spells have knockback and aoe effect. If enemy have low enough magic resistence to be hurt by minimal charge, you can kill them just by spamming spell minimal charge.
With wind fist you can easily dispatch wolf pack, goblin pack, minecravlers (only old mine type) , it even work on skeletons (here im not sure if wind but storm definetly) and humans (except templars in sleeper temple). Small draw back is if enemy die due to fall damage you dont get exp.

What about getting a shrink monster scroll for the golem, would that not be quicker than spamming attacks nonstop for 20mins? I mean, I appreciate the dedication, but for some people, the scroll may be more fitting because... spells... becoming an OP mage... thing...

@@Kacp3rrak afaik one can get the scroll somewhere else as well... but don't remember exactly anymore. Either way, getting the scroll near the troll just sounds more interesting than beating the golem for 20 minutes :D (for users it was sped up, but I can only imagine how it was doing this yourself)
The way you aproached the stone golem was way to laborious. You could have used the monster shrink scroll from the troll canyon and then cast a storm fist. And when you kill the fire golem first you can execute the ice golem with the fire golem heart.
Well and also you can kill the stone golem with a normal hammer with 3hits

10/10 video but in the time you took to get past bloodhounds (there's a safe path south east of old camp) and the stone golem, you could've just gained a few levels AND joined a camp the normal way. Farming low level monsters and training strength/1h skill is so overpowered. But we get the point of the video... it's just for fun

It is but its a bit slow since you cant just drink a potion of swiftness and ran ahead
You can kill the stone golem with the spell windfist, much faster.
Didnt even know you can kill him with windfist. I think I tried it once and it didnt deal damage and he killed me. Guess I'll try again
@@Kacp3rrak Im sorry, you have to use the spell shrink on the golem and he is a one hit. Thats how you kill him very fast. I think you can get it in the swamp camp at the Baal you impress with the sleep spell, not sure tho.

I don't know how many hours have you lost in that but there is much easier way of doing things without heavily exploiting. The only skill it is required is first level of one handed sword. No need of attributes or whatsoever. You don't even need lockpicking and you can do it without reloading or dying. You can kill the stone golem with a 35 dmg weapon taken from some of the rogues at new camp but if you do not wish to advance into chapter 2 you have to have one handed at expert for that 5 % crit which is double damage. The other golems are very easy with scrolls.
Other golems cannot be killed until chapter 2.. at least the fire one cant be killed until triggering chapter 2 coz there's not enough spellscrolls to kill the golem. Actually, what he does is exactly the way people speedrun this thing without taking damage

Everything I done in this video lead up to defeating those 3 golems in Chapter 1.

I went to every person who sold spells in all 3 camps.
Old, New and Sect camp.
All of them had at least 1-2 thunder scrolls. Don't take my word for it tho. Can't really remember what I did in the vid :)
@@Kacp3rrak ohhh, you may be right. I keep believing it to be chapter 2 because in my no dmg runs I could only get to kill the golems if I was chapter 2, and not risk dying or getting it. Fuck, this game had me going like no other
How did you opened the chests without learning it?
In gothic 1 you did not have to learn how to pick locks to open chests. It just made you break fewer lock picks when you learned it.
would you say that a mage build is viable this early? Or is it only really doable late game?
you could perform it early game but it might be a little difficult. I only wanted to do this video cause it sucks a little that you dont get much magic, except for scrolls, early game. Nice to play as a mage from the beginning once in a while

If you have 100 strength. You can easily kill the Stone golem with a blacksmith's hammer
if only your cast coudnt be interrupted... but it can and thus mage is crap in G1 and absolutely op in G2-3
8:55 I was actually seriously considering playing as a mage, maybe mage/bow/crossbow simply because... who the hell plays as a mage? No one. It's so impractical and gated. By the time I get to use mage, I'm already an expert 1 hand user. Plus you can't even use mage against NPCs because they die. BUUUUT end game is great.... killing everyone in the camp with magic, since they keep running away and it instantly kills them.
Didnt know you can go pass the Guards by holding a weapon and triggering them to give you a warning ...poor Thorus if i ever play this Game again i wont need to pay 1000magic-ore anymore or was iz 2000?!
