So if someone gets paralyzed, they should be proud of it? Disabilities shouldn't be proud to have, they should be proud to overcome the disability. If you can't walk but force yourself to get out of the wheelchair to walk again and succeed, that is what you should be proud of. If born deaf but get surgery to hear, will you be proud of being deaf or will you be proud to hear. When you have PTSD, you don't feel proud to have it but to overcome it.
It's not just walking when you couldn't or hearing when you couldn't. It's not letting those things determine your life and what you do. Within reason of course. It's overcoming the limitations put upon you. Not just removing the limitation.

I'm borderline disabled, and in severe pain most days , forced to live on pain meds to live a farly functional life going back to a car accident when i was younger that i had no business surviving...that took EVERYTHING from Me and had me unable to walk for 6 months, had to relearn to walk and have a limp and pain, can barely crouch or squat, was expected to have brain damage that i somehow avoided...even every doctor can't explain why...robbed me of an athletic scholarship that i worked hard for, led to alcoholism for many years, etc. The last thing i want is pity, or to be looked down on, or patronized by being fake "celebrated", or pandered to...they can take their disability month and choke on it. It's disgusting imo. And then to link it in any lway to pride is awful. I never even heard of "disability month". There should be no black history month, definitely no pride month...its just gross. I have significant disabilities of my own relating to a brain tumor I survived some years ago. Big ass cerebral meningioma in my temporal lobe. They told me I would probably loose 70ish percent of my vision and hear, but it turns out that the tumor was softer than expected and thus easier to remove. Only lost about 35ish percent. All that out of the way though I take *_no_* pride in the fact I have disability. I also happen to be bi-sexual and in that I fully reject the entire pride movement given that it is a bigger joke than the idea of disability pride.

Due to my conditions worsening I can't work a shitty job to afford the new AAA games and micro transactions, but the good news is I am not missing out on much.
