One thing you got wrong is that their is a way to get the transport hog in halo reaches campaign. On the firat time your at sword base their is a scput hog running for it's life from two wraiths. If your fast enpugh you can save the hog from being blown up

Another Phenomenal video my dude. I've spent countless hours in this vehicle throughout every game. Trying to beat your time in the finale's, messing around missions, or just roaming maps in forge, the trusty warthog was there every step of the way.
Editing is top notch 👍👍 I recall you could drive the troop hog on oni alpha site of reach if you blew it away before it hit the trigger. But wasnt very obvious
I think it’d be interesting if they did an up-armored version where it adds doors to the driver and passenger seats that swing up, and the dynamic damage mechanic lets them be shot off (resulting in a hog that looks a lot like the normal one).

Really liked this video. Going over the models in detail was nice. And talking about how over powered the hogs on sandtrap are. Was going to mention you not brining up H3's run warthog run, but you got it there at the end.
Y'know I never bothered questioning this but why did they get rid of the original warthog design it looked so much cooler than modern warthogs I always loved the simplistic design it always had but 343 came in and cluttered it up with fuel tanks and added a bunch of wierd rail things and that god awful machine gun shape
It’s weird too because even when they got rid of the bars and cans in Infinite it still doesn’t look right. I can’t put my finger on what, something about it is just really off looking compared to Reach which I’d consider the best model of the Warthog.
Hey, Laper Larden. Great work on the Warthog Evolution video! Your analyses of the vehicle's variants showed me aspects of the Warthog that I had never noticed before such as the weathering on the Halo: Combat Evolved Warthog, the static display on several of the 343 Industries Warthogs, and the different chain gun turret and gauss turret types. Also, the static display of the Halo 4, Halo 5, and Halo 2: Anniversary Warthog and inconsistent logos on the Halo 2: Anniversary Warthog are going to irritate me now. Thanks! If I had to choose a favorite Warthog variant, it would be the chain gun Warthog - specifically, the Halo 3 iteration. The Gauss Hog feels insanely good to use, but there is just something about mowing down waves of enemies with the chain gun while speeding down a road or field. Regarding the Halo 3 variant of the Warthog, I think it has the best design and the greatest balance of simplicity and detail. The vehicle is a polished and graphically improved iteration of its original design. Also, the Warthog is not visually cluttered despite the significant amounts of bolts, utilities, plate segments, and grime. For the next episode of Halo Revisited, I think the Ghost, Banshee, Elites, or the signature Assault Rifle would be great subjects to analyze.
Thanks for watching! I'm with you there, I think Halo 3's warthog is my personal favourite as well. I'm tossing up between doing the Banshee or maybe a video about the one-off vehicles in Halo, that appeared in one game or got really close to being included but got cut at the last minute.
you forgot about the dynamic damage where individual bullet impact stick onto the warthog and little armor plates pop off individually from each other in Halo infinite
When I first saw the jerry cans I was paralized, dumbstruck... I was honestly surprised the car that was shown in the forza game was not an april fools joke...
honesty I think I preferred reaches rocket hog to infinite as while it was very dangerous to use it would cause funny situations where you would get a kill while also killing yourself in a spectacular explosion or launch yourself of the map. the infinite one honestly feels almost useless to me
1 time in infinte had a razor back full of marines with sentinal beams and i just drove trough a usnc target and they destroyed them with the sentinal beams
Good video bloke 👍 The hog is the thing that I have the best memories of I still remember the very first time playing CE and getting a marine to fist pump the air on the way to the not a natural formation Or fanging it up the tunnel after crossing the light bridge and seeing that bump to the left and wanting to do a sick jump I drove straight off the map I didn't know it was possible With the midnight launch of ODST or reach I won a ride in the WETAs full size hog used in the live action man it was cool apparently the only reason it had a live axel rather than the independent legs was due to time They intended to use electric motors attached to the chopped off ends of live Axel's and hydraulics for the steering the legs were to ride on airbags to provide suspension it was cool
@@LaperLarden not just sit in but I got two full laps around Parramatta speedway it didn't have the turret on it but it was six ways of cool I almost missed out the invitation that was given to me had the wrong address on it some office block in Parramatta not the location of the event at Parramatta speedway so I turned up late but so did a bunch of people and everyone was cool about it
17:00 incorrect in halo reach on winter contingency the troop transport hog appeared and demolished by wraiths when exiting sword base. But within the release week so lucky few including myself, somehow the warthog Survived its destruction and I drove it myself.
The Halo Wars games are always a bit tricky, as the quality of the models used in those games isn't comparable to the FPS titles. But in future, I'd like to tackle some Halo Wars specific vehicles.
@@LaperLarden Kind of poor excuse just because the model is lower quality for the top down doesn't mean you cant look at it. But the thing that really annoys me is how a lot of channels that review Halo Aliens and Vehicles don't touch Halo Wars on their mechanics because its not "Mainline Halo" its not that hard, just ask someone who knows!
As far as vehicles go. I usually love to fly and be a pilot, but when it comes to the Warthog.... I LOVE that vehicle. I've played many other games with ATV/LRVs in them and none of them feel as great to drive as the Warthog. I've had friends even comment, "Why are you not in a flying vehicle like you normally are?" ... I got the Puma baby. I'm having fun, now hop in so we can roll out, shoot stuff and splatter everything!

Couple of random thoughts I had watching it: The textures on pretty much everything in Halo 4 are hilariously bad and the warthog sounds like a remote control car Halo 5 has some truly awful designs but the ability to switch seats was a god send and I’m so glad Infinite has it too
I love the Warthog man. It's only my 2nd fav Halo vehicle (Pelican is my waifu) but hog is the classic when it comes to ground based movement. It works so well in Halo with the physics letting you just jump and bounce around and zoom everywhere all over Covenant faces and mancannons and every other crazy thing you can think of. I have no deeper thoughts beyond this other than the Halo 4 onward Warthog noise is genuinely upsetting, it is actively grating to listen to. I don't know how they fucked it up so bad compared to the classics which sounded like smooth butter in comparison.
Seems like the Warthog should be used in conjunction with the Scorpion tank as far as tactics go. Kind of like how the French have their armored companies set up.
Good video! Some advice for the next time, I think your channel would be more successful with more original content! There is room for everyone of course, but it’s nice to have variance in the Halo community. You could go further by having original content and & credit the person you were inspired by with this video. It’s good to have a good reputation with your fellow halo tubers. Just my advice from being in the cutthroat art community.
Consider it done! I've tried to steer clear of stepping on anyone's toes and covering the same topic, or aspect of the Halo Universe. At the moment though, it's a tad tricky to find a niche that someone hasn't filled in a community as broad as Halo's. Though I'm always open to suggestions, and genuinely, thank you for the advice! As someone who's relatively new to the content creation scene, and looks up to a lot of Halotubers, it's always been my intention to build bridges, not burn them.
Finally we got the Warthog video. I love the Warthog with all my heart and soul. Personally, the Reach Chaingun Warthog is my favorite version. As much as I love the Warthog, I have some serious problems with the lore of it. There is no world in which the Warthog would be a common vehicle. It's listed as a recon vehicle first and foremost, yet in the games and in the lore it's used as quite literally anything but. The UNSC uses the Warthog for almost any position it can, simply slapping whatever they feel on the back and throwing it out there. While sometimes I can understand this, overall, the vehicles design is it's downfall and as to why it shouldn't and wouldn't be common, even with all the variants. It's far too exposed. It doesn't matter what turret you have if you have such an exposed vehicle. The UNSC uses it like a Humvee, however it doesn't fit into that role. The UNSC is better off using actual Humvees, or having it's own version that'd be more common and fitting of a Humvees role. Most versions can only comfortably carry three people, with a few exceptions, though the others are also still very exposed. The Troop Transport and flatbed variants might be more common, though only behind the scenes, for moving people and supplies in UNSC controlled areas. Because it's design, it makes it ill suited for how it's used because of this, making it a death sentence to use it in any heavy fighting. It's much better used as listed rather than shown, used as a light recon vehicle. It has a low profile - well, at least compared to other vehicles, as the Warthog is 3 X 3.1X 6 meters. Still though carries a lower profile and packs a hell of a punch, and the armor itself actually has a great design. UNSC armor is mostly based on slopes and spaced armor, both very much help protect it as you can't take a hit if the round is deflected, or if you do take a hit, spaced armor stops many things nicely. Still because of the super exposed design, you'd want to position it farther away and letting the heavier and more armored vehicles, stuff like the Cougar, Mastodon, Bison, ect, actually be in the thick of the fight. The second main reason why it'd be a super rare vehicle is how the UNSC use it. I brushed on that before, but this is another huge issue. Being a light recon vehicle not suited to be a front line vehicle and would generally be reserved for special units, like probably the UNSC Army Rangers for instance. The UNSC tends to throw Warthogs at the Covenant in mass. This doesn't work for several reasons. The first is the obvious ones I've listed about how it's design is terrible for being in the frontlines. But also it's dumb for another reason. The Covenant generally heavily outnumbers the UNSC in battles, in orbit, in the air, and especially on the ground. You can't throw dozens of Warthogs at an enemy who has generally ten times the number of forces as you do. It's wasting money and material the UNSC doesn't have. The Covenant can afford to replace much of their vehicle and personnel losses. The UNSC can't. Putting a vehicle which doesn't fit the frontline role and trying to spam it at an enemy that already outnumbers you ten to one doesn't work, and is an absolutely horrible idea. The Warthog would be a very rare vehicle.
I actually kinda like 343 era 'Hog more, specifically the Infinite version without extra bars. Mostly due to it having a slightly longer and flatter body, that, in my opinion, makes it look less top-heavy and more stable, as well as, in surprising move for 343, fit the retro-futuristic UNSC aesthetic more than the older somewhat rounder 'Hog Also, love and hate the Razorback at the same time. I think it's quite a good design, that I would love if it wasn't for the Warthog existing. Just doesn't feel unique enough to warrant being a separate vehicle, imo
Ah yes, the -Puma- Warthog, another great example of a design that is a classic in video games but would not pass any design tests by modern military standards. Although I _very_ rarely use it in Multiplayer, this baby will always stick with me largely because of it's use by Red Team in RvB. I think the main reason they gave the chaingun an overheat function in Reach/4/5 is because of way too many videos on CZcams of people getting Killionaires in H3. A Killionaire should _not_ be that easy to get unless you are absolutely on top of your game. Probably the main reason why I'm also way more impressed by Pros getting Exterminations in 4v4 than any clip of Killionaires in BTB. Also, the Warthog is the bane of my existence in any solo Legendary playthrough. The Marines on the back always only seem to fire at targets within half of a player's red reticle range and they shoot IN BURSTS, even in games with no overheat function. I always prefer to be in a vehicle where I can directly control the primary armament and move at the same time. Still, the overall silhouette of the Warthog remains a timeless classic of the series. It is simple and easily recognizable. Even on it's more visually-noisy designs, it still retains its overall shape and function, even after 20 years.

I work on engines, there’s no way it has a 12 liter. For example the 8v92ta and C12 and Cummins ISX 12 are 3 1/2 foot long and 4 foot tall. It most likely has a 6 liter. I would love to have one but it’s huge and the fuel is highly flammable and burns clear so if something isn’t burning that gives off smoke or a visible flame I would need a TIC or broom 🧹 to put out in front of me so I don’t walk into the fire. I’m also a firefighter so I got to train on hydrogen fuel cell. Forklifts are common with the Hydrogen fuel cell engines 😅
I played like a thousand hours of Gearbox Software's Halo: CE port back in the day, and the rocket hog was... so bad. Like awful. It fired the insanely slow Halo:CE Rocket Launcher rockets, so it was nearly impossible to hit anything while driving full speed, especially other vehicles driving full speed. If you tried to shoot all 3 rockets really fast they had like ridiculous divergence, only the first one would go where you were aiming and the other ones would shoot off at random angles, then you had to aim straight up (to avoid getting shot) and reload for several seconds. I think I can maybe remember one or two good rocket hog runs, but it was with the best players I knew manning the gun because no one else could hit anything, even sitting still half the time. The default warthog was your best bet because the gunner only had to hold the gun on target and the DPS would kill anyone in like one second, and anyone on the ground could be run over after missing their insanely slow Halo:CE grenades. The frags would go off I think 1.5 seconds after they came to a complete rest, so they couldn't bounce off the warthog, then explode in the air (unless launched by another explosion), so the driver had to drive into them on the ground The plasma grenades had a full 2 seconds before exploding after coming to rest and the terror-netcode and long airtime of grenades in Halo PC made it significantly more difficult to stick anything. The rocket launcher couldn't lock on, and you needed like a 5 second lead to hit a warthog across blood gulch, so your best bet was shooting the warthog from point blank range, which would often backfire hilariously. The *PC Exclusive* fuel-rod canon fired in an arc and overheated really fast, so it was basically worthless for killing anyone except yourself. A good driver/gunner combo could just wipe the other team on bloodgulch and spawn camp them until they quit if they didn't have any good players. It was so... much... FUN. None of the future warthogs match the original IMO, but I can understand why they had to change it lol.

The Halo Wars games are always a bit tricky, as the quality of the models used in those games isn't comparable to the FPS titles. But in future, I'd like to tackle some Halo Wars specific vehicles.
@@LaperLarden Kind of poor excuse just because the model is lower quality for the top down doesn't mean you cant look at it. But the thing that really annoys me is how a lot of channels that review Halo Aliens and Vehicles don't touch Halo Wars on their mechanics because its not "Mainline Halo" its not that hard, just ask someone who knows!

As far as vehicles go. I usually love to fly and be a pilot, but when it comes to the Warthog.... I LOVE that vehicle. I've played many other games with ATV/LRVs in them and none of them feel as great to drive as the Warthog. I've had friends even comment, "Why are you not in a flying vehicle like you normally are?" ... I got the Puma baby. I'm having fun, now hop in so we can roll out, shoot stuff and splatter everything!
I love Halo's air vehicles, but if there's a Warthog on offer with good teammates to back me up, I'm taking it every time!

Couple of random thoughts I had watching it:
The textures on pretty much everything in Halo 4 are hilariously bad and the warthog sounds like a remote control car
Halo 5 has some truly awful designs but the ability to switch seats was a god send and I’m so glad Infinite has it too
I'm not sure what happened with Halo 4's textures, but looking at them up close is a big yikes.

I love the Warthog man. It's only my 2nd fav Halo vehicle (Pelican is my waifu) but hog is the classic when it comes to ground based movement. It works so well in Halo with the physics letting you just jump and bounce around and zoom everywhere all over Covenant faces and mancannons and every other crazy thing you can think of.
I have no deeper thoughts beyond this other than the Halo 4 onward Warthog noise is genuinely upsetting, it is actively grating to listen to. I don't know how they fucked it up so bad compared to the classics which sounded like smooth butter in comparison.

Using the newer models in H2A didn't bother me, what did was changing the sound of the Gauss cannon it sounded so limp in comparison.
Good video! Some advice for the next time, I think your channel would be more successful with more original content! There is room for everyone of course, but it’s nice to have variance in the Halo community. You could go further by having original content and & credit the person you were inspired by with this video. It’s good to have a good reputation with your fellow halo tubers. Just my advice from being in the cutthroat art community.
Consider it done! I've tried to steer clear of stepping on anyone's toes and covering the same topic, or aspect of the Halo Universe. At the moment though, it's a tad tricky to find a niche that someone hasn't filled in a community as broad as Halo's. Though I'm always open to suggestions, and genuinely, thank you for the advice! As someone who's relatively new to the content creation scene, and looks up to a lot of Halotubers, it's always been my intention to build bridges, not burn them.

Finally we got the Warthog video. I love the Warthog with all my heart and soul. Personally, the Reach Chaingun Warthog is my favorite version. As much as I love the Warthog, I have some serious problems with the lore of it.
There is no world in which the Warthog would be a common vehicle. It's listed as a recon vehicle first and foremost, yet in the games and in the lore it's used as quite literally anything but. The UNSC uses the Warthog for almost any position it can, simply slapping whatever they feel on the back and throwing it out there. While sometimes I can understand this, overall, the vehicles design is it's downfall and as to why it shouldn't and wouldn't be common, even with all the variants.
It's far too exposed. It doesn't matter what turret you have if you have such an exposed vehicle. The UNSC uses it like a Humvee, however it doesn't fit into that role. The UNSC is better off using actual Humvees, or having it's own version that'd be more common and fitting of a Humvees role. Most versions can only comfortably carry three people, with a few exceptions, though the others are also still very exposed. The Troop Transport and flatbed variants might be more common, though only behind the scenes, for moving people and supplies in UNSC controlled areas. Because it's design, it makes it ill suited for how it's used because of this, making it a death sentence to use it in any heavy fighting.
It's much better used as listed rather than shown, used as a light recon vehicle. It has a low profile - well, at least compared to other vehicles, as the Warthog is 3 X 3.1X 6 meters. Still though carries a lower profile and packs a hell of a punch, and the armor itself actually has a great design. UNSC armor is mostly based on slopes and spaced armor, both very much help protect it as you can't take a hit if the round is deflected, or if you do take a hit, spaced armor stops many things nicely. Still because of the super exposed design, you'd want to position it farther away and letting the heavier and more armored vehicles, stuff like the Cougar, Mastodon, Bison, ect, actually be in the thick of the fight.
The second main reason why it'd be a super rare vehicle is how the UNSC use it. I brushed on that before, but this is another huge issue. Being a light recon vehicle not suited to be a front line vehicle and would generally be reserved for special units, like probably the UNSC Army Rangers for instance. The UNSC tends to throw Warthogs at the Covenant in mass. This doesn't work for several reasons. The first is the obvious ones I've listed about how it's design is terrible for being in the frontlines. But also it's dumb for another reason. The Covenant generally heavily outnumbers the UNSC in battles, in orbit, in the air, and especially on the ground. You can't throw dozens of Warthogs at an enemy who has generally ten times the number of forces as you do. It's wasting money and material the UNSC doesn't have. The Covenant can afford to replace much of their vehicle and personnel losses. The UNSC can't.
Putting a vehicle which doesn't fit the frontline role and trying to spam it at an enemy that already outnumbers you ten to one doesn't work, and is an absolutely horrible idea. The Warthog would be a very rare vehicle.
Ngl, aesthetically speaking this vehicle looks sexy af but functionality wise this thing offers less protection than a modern day Humvee.
Yeah, there is a bit of suspension of disbelief when it comes to Halo's vehicles. Bungie's rule of cool over practicality.

I actually kinda like 343 era 'Hog more, specifically the Infinite version without extra bars. Mostly due to it having a slightly longer and flatter body, that, in my opinion, makes it look less top-heavy and more stable, as well as, in surprising move for 343, fit the retro-futuristic UNSC aesthetic more than the older somewhat rounder 'Hog
Also, love and hate the Razorback at the same time. I think it's quite a good design, that I would love if it wasn't for the Warthog existing. Just doesn't feel unique enough to warrant being a separate vehicle, imo

Ah yes, the -Puma- Warthog, another great example of a design that is a classic in video games but would not pass any design tests by modern military standards.
Although I _very_ rarely use it in Multiplayer, this baby will always stick with me largely because of it's use by Red Team in RvB. I think the main reason they gave the chaingun an overheat function in Reach/4/5 is because of way too many videos on CZcams of people getting Killionaires in H3. A Killionaire should _not_ be that easy to get unless you are absolutely on top of your game. Probably the main reason why I'm also way more impressed by Pros getting Exterminations in 4v4 than any clip of Killionaires in BTB.
Also, the Warthog is the bane of my existence in any solo Legendary playthrough. The Marines on the back always only seem to fire at targets within half of a player's red reticle range and they shoot IN BURSTS, even in games with no overheat function. I always prefer to be in a vehicle where I can directly control the primary armament and move at the same time.
Still, the overall silhouette of the Warthog remains a timeless classic of the series. It is simple and easily recognizable. Even on it's more visually-noisy designs, it still retains its overall shape and function, even after 20 years.
Fun fact the US Army has prototype vehicles that have a similar design to the warthog

I work on engines, there’s no way it has a 12 liter. For example the 8v92ta and C12 and Cummins ISX 12 are 3 1/2 foot long and 4 foot tall. It most likely has a 6 liter. I would love to have one but it’s huge and the fuel is highly flammable and burns clear so if something isn’t burning that gives off smoke or a visible flame I would need a TIC or broom 🧹 to put out in front of me so I don’t walk into the fire. I’m also a firefighter so I got to train on hydrogen fuel cell. Forklifts are common with the Hydrogen fuel cell engines 😅

I played like a thousand hours of Gearbox Software's Halo: CE port back in the day, and the rocket hog was... so bad. Like awful. It fired the insanely slow Halo:CE Rocket Launcher rockets, so it was nearly impossible to hit anything while driving full speed, especially other vehicles driving full speed. If you tried to shoot all 3 rockets really fast they had like ridiculous divergence, only the first one would go where you were aiming and the other ones would shoot off at random angles, then you had to aim straight up (to avoid getting shot) and reload for several seconds. I think I can maybe remember one or two good rocket hog runs, but it was with the best players I knew manning the gun because no one else could hit anything, even sitting still half the time.
The default warthog was your best bet because the gunner only had to hold the gun on target and the DPS would kill anyone in like one second, and anyone on the ground could be run over after missing their insanely slow Halo:CE grenades.
The frags would go off I think 1.5 seconds after they came to a complete rest, so they couldn't bounce off the warthog, then explode in the air (unless launched by another explosion), so the driver had to drive into them on the ground The plasma grenades had a full 2 seconds before exploding after coming to rest and the terror-netcode and long airtime of grenades in Halo PC made it significantly more difficult to stick anything. The rocket launcher couldn't lock on, and you needed like a 5 second lead to hit a warthog across blood gulch, so your best bet was shooting the warthog from point blank range, which would often backfire hilariously. The *PC Exclusive* fuel-rod canon fired in an arc and overheated really fast, so it was basically worthless for killing anyone except yourself.
A good driver/gunner combo could just wipe the other team on bloodgulch and spawn camp them until they quit if they didn't have any good players. It was so... much... FUN. None of the future warthogs match the original IMO, but I can understand why they had to change it lol.
