    I feed my canaries a variety of foods all year long. Menu doesnt change too much, with the exception of more egg towards breeding. My fifes sing strong all season! I love adding fonio and perilla seeds!!!

    It’s my first year keeping goldfinch & bullys
    My plan for egg food was almost the same but with broccoli added!
    Is there any reason u don’t use broccoli?

    Good tip for the blue maw and fonio paddy I’ve heard of fonio never knew it helped with coccidiosis though, my mix atm is sprouted seed and dry egg food 50/50 and then a little bit of ferti vit and wheat germ oil, do you think the greens are really necessary? Because I thought the sprouted seeds covered that ?

      Hi mate thanks for the comment yes fonio is a brilliant seed and as far as your opinion on greens the way i see it you wouldn't want chips and egg everyday so the added peas adds more variety but the germinated seed would be enough depending on the type of birds you breed

      @@thebirdroom6306 thanks for the reply, I get what your saying I will add some peas see how they go I’ve only got the one pair of goldfinches for now anyway but it’s nice to give em a few different things to pick through, thanks for the advice and keep the videos coming

    I have 37 fife canaries. I feed a huge variety of seeds. How often can I feed an egg food mixture? Obviously if a bird doesnt get much excercise it will get fat!!! If they are in a walkin aviary can I feed soft food with and without egg a few times a week during the non breeding season.

    Shane, I've only just started up again with native finches so don't have as many birds as you, can this mix be frozen and still be effective ?

    • @thebirdroom6306
      @thebirdroom6306  Před 3 lety +1

      hi yes you can freeze i dont tend to you can also keep it in the fridge but make sure you bring it to room temp before feeding

    Please could you give me some advice on how to remove eggs from a sitting bird who's eggs have gone well past the hatching dates. I don't want to distress her but... This isn't about food but hoped you could advise. Domestic situation in a cage. XXBarbara
