If the greenfinches are dominant yellow why are you looking for red eyes ? They wouldn't be red eyed and the normals wouldn't carry. Its dominant so either are visual or nothing atall . Got more chance of this 2nd 2 chick's being a dominant yellow if no red eyes . Hope this helps 😁 happy breeding

Good stuff again! On the topic of phones and camera's the birds are super scared of them. Mine are at least. I think they have a level of sound waves like megaherz we as humans cannot hear or sense but our birds can. I think that puts them off.

I have one male EG, and I interact with him every day because I work from home a great deal. He has a huge cage, that is left open in a large room with perches around. He seems happy, flying around, eating, bathing singing on some days. Can I get another male EG to put in the cage/room with him or will they fight? Should I get a female? I don't want him to be lonely. The person we bought him from is useless regarding information. Thanks

I find the Belgian breeds later, usually May, and they are slow feeders as you've said. Larger birds work differently.

True Shane about feeding. The young can get along with 5 / 6 feeds a day, then when a bit older 3 / 4. I only top my egg ups up 5 times a day that's it. Well the miss does when I'm at work.. 😅😅. You look to be doing something right mate. So you keep it that way.

I'm up north shane and have seen two goldfinch nests abandoned mate due to weather. One in an elder other in a black berry. Both nests finished packed with the white lining. But nothing there. It's hammered it down here past few weeks. We've got some rain tomorrow early morning 4 till 2 in the afternoon. Back to our birds, I've done fine this season in doors.Bull finches , canaries, goldfinches all 100%

Those goldfinches are incredible and look like very big birds. Out of all the mutations he has the original variation beats them all imo. Great video 👍

Hello, I have some questions if you don't mind, please. Yesterday I was gifted a male goldfinch who isn't interested in the foods that I offer him. Won't touch egg food, broccoli, apple or boiled egg. I am assuming that he has been eating some of the seed mix but very little. I'm sure he is scared having been moved to a new owner, he's also on his own as I feel that it is wise to quarantine. He doesn't appear in any way sick and looks to be in breeding condition but I still plan to give him some treatments on the chance of anything being wrong. I am wondering if you have suggestions as to what a goldfinch should definitely eat? One suggestion given to me was to pair him with a canary hens and that she'll train him to eat all the good stuff. Do you think that is a good strategy?
