  • This is a long one. if you're not interested in replacing an mx-5 hood, then it's unlikely to be for you. even if you are... much of this might be obvious to you but hey, you have been warned.
I recently bought myself a 20yr old mx-5 mk2.5 and the old vinyl hood was dry and cracked and generally in need of replacing.
This is me doing so and running into all the details and questions that no other video mentioned.
probably because those people actually know what they're doing and I don't

Crikey! Sounded like you were filming in a hurricane at times! Was watching on a PC. (Didn't watch the whole thing but did let it play for the view time).

Sadly another down side of working with very low initial audio. Anytime the wind picked up or an actual loss noise occurs it spikes hard. That's what I get for starting it half heartedly and not really planning the video setup properly. Thanks for the support inspite of those failings. Normal service to be resumed next time

@@MakerGeek no worries. At least the soft top is fixed. 👍

The part he is working on is the top of the Miata. Do the Brits call the convertible top a "hood?"

Yes. Didn't even think about the fact that's a different car part in the US. :-)

Very sorry to complain about your video, but the sound is atrocious.

I was worried that would be the case. Sounded ok ish on my editing machine but I had to boost the terrible audio coming from the mic of my phone. And that can mean very variable outcomes depending on the device playing back. I should have thought about it when I set up to record but the damage was done by the time I was editing.

Can I ask what device you watched on? It's not too bad on my phone. But I know audio can be weird in how different devices handle boosted sound levels
