Crazy how on this amazing Sting tune we’re all here for Vinnie haha
"....yep! So very true, indeed!"
~ "¥a'D¡G¿"
Truth!
What a truly fantastic drummer colaiuta is 🙏👍
An amazing Artist, one of the all time greats
Man, this is such a beautiful tune! And Vinnie is just fantastic!
He has been one of my favorites since the first time I heard him. He's a brilliant musician, knows what the music needs and can add His touch when he wants to
Honestly one of the greatest pop/rock/jazz whatever you want to call it, songs ever written. Just brilliant.
Whole album
@@briancarey8444From first track to the last, all Diamonds!
Great album, Great musicians!!
And if it wasnt for the fabulous musicians he surrounded himself with it wouldnt have been as good.@@darrylperry706
@@darrylperry706yup no filler tracks on this one!
and hiphop .. why not
To this day, Vinnie's groove on this song is one of the most deceptively complex drum parts ever recorded. Sting has always been fortunate with drummers. Copeland, Hakim, Katche, and Colaiuta.
Don't forget Carlock 🙂
Yes. Great comment.
Jajajaja 5/8 complejo, complicado?
It might also be said drummers are fortunate to get to play with Sting. Probably their best paydays. And Sting is a masterful musician and songwriter.
This is not deceptively complex, it's merely odd meter. Count it out 1,2,3,4,5...practice, make sure your accented high hit notes are very contrasted with the unaccented one and that's where the feel is.
What an awesome song. Vinnie is such a boss. Saw him perform with Jeff Beck and Tal Wilkinfeld at the crossroads blues festival in 07. Mind blowing
I’m sure that was an amazing concert. Was that with Jeff Beck?
Colaiuta, one of the finest drummers around
Ever
I'm a rocker by heart but I love this song Vinnies playing is brilliant 👌👌👌👌
I feel old seeing this clip so much in the last decades.
Killer band!
I once thought that I was still young enough to be a future colaiuta
This entire album KILLS!!! It is an absolute Masterpiece. That Band was other worldly. Aliens I tell you, Aliens!
Vinnie is greatest drummer of all time
Sting writes great Songs, After It calls the best musicians and they produce a masterwork...a very smart way!!!
So exactly true❤
I thought so too, until I saw the latest tour.
@@rizman1095was It so bad?
Compared to Vinnie, Manu, Omar, and Stewart? Extremely mediocre….I know, that’s an oxymoron. But I’m trying to be nice. 😊
Same as joni
Uncle Vinnie stirring the soup. ALWAYS TASTE REALLY REALLY GOOD😊❤
Well that was easy. Or it felt easy, rather. My God what a song played effortlessly by fantastic musicians. It took me 11 years to come across this version but I thoroughly enjoyed the last 5 minutes of my life :-)
I've never heard this song before. It's brilliant as is each musician in that room. Wow that's a piece of music
Totally brilliant, Vinnie is just perfection!
Sting n the boys killed it with this song❤
I've played keyboards for 30 years but I still want to be David Sancious when I grow up.
This version has more interesting little licks (especially the keys) in it than the studio version that made the album.
The holy grail of drum challenges.......not easy
And my heart is filled to the brim with joy. Amazing talent on display. Vinnie is one of the GOAT'S.
One of my favorite solo Sting tracks. Exceptional musicians all around.
I say this guitar player/backup vocalist who is always there with Sting is an awesome musician.
Dominic Miller - he's great. czcams.com/video/efRQh2vspVc/video.html
Dominic Miller - he has plenty of his own work on ECM records
@@kezzawdThank you. I will check him out more closely. I recorded for Sony so I can tell a talented guy when I hear one.
Damn, flawless playing by All
The fact that this recording is a "rough track" is astounding! But it's a blueprint of what would become the studio masterpiece puts it on par as a masterpiece of it's own. It's like a slightly looser version of what it would become. Man, do I love this era of Sting.
Vinnie , what a great combination with Sting
Easily one of my favorite drum tracks ever !!!!!!!!!!!
I without a doubt absolutely love this tune 🙌 👌 🎶 ❤️
Watch Vinnie with Jeff Beck and Tal Winkenfeld at Ronnie Scotts. Top notch stuff!
You are right about that.
Vinny is clearly laying down the law of time...
And it allows the other musicians to play their parts absolutely perfect.
Cool tune written by Sting.
Sting just beams from the very beginning !!
Work of geniuses. This song hits me hard as one of the best I have ever heard in popular music culture.
These chords are weird and at the same time they make sense in such a unique way. It brings me joy. A whole lot of.
By far, the popular song with the most original drum feels ever created. Favourite drummers song. A song to study and play beat by beat.
Colaiuta, master inspiration for drummers and musicians
Sting is a great melodist. Vinnie is a monster, love this!
Cool. Different version than the album. At least the drums.
And live!!!!
This fits the title more than perfect. This makes Sting soo unique. Just a simple idea, 7 days, 7 bars. That's it.
When you have a great song & great musicians & great engineering … this is the result & gold standard
1:39 David Sancious with the tasty run. Love it.
Amazing performances all around, but you've actually got two singers here - Sting and Vinnie. One is mostly melodic, but also rhythmic - the other is mostly rhythmic but also melodic. Vinnie adds the punch and dynamics which accentuates and brings out the contrast in Stings dreamy vocals, but also leaves an incredible amount of space and openness. There's not one unnecessary note or sound here. ** Love that "ow" growl at 4:25, then the laugh and then another "ow" few seconds later. The first one almost looked it it was Vinnie (unlikely but I saw his mouth move). It's those little things that take things from great to classic.
This just blows my mind…Vinnie C…amazing playing
The tune has this over-arching relaxing flow on top… yet Vinnie is driving it so hard. What a great feel. It just never gets old.
You had me from the first note... soooo good.
I was introduced to this song and project whilst traveling by train through Ukraine in the early 1990s.
As I hear this song now, so so many years later, I reflect back to what I saw when first listening to Sumner’s tunes. I remember the fields passing amongst the small bodies of water. And the two lovers hidden amongst the weeds who were witnessed only by us, the bored passengers passing time as life passed by.
The beats of this tune correlated with the rhythmic pattern the moving train played. It was a delight to hear then, as it is now. Gorgeous song.❤
Summoners Tales is a masterpiece of an album.
An stunning disposal of monster musicianship. What a session. Sounds awesome and what a player Vinnie is, Wow!
Vinnie used to be a client that just turned into a buddy after a while, and I remember when he got the Sting gig... Ran into him looking at a car for his wife, at the time, and he was sharing how ecstatic he was getting that gig...
Vinnie is just next level talent
Did they buy a 5 cylinder with four valves per cylinder and variable timing?
@@TheMICMusicInspirationChannel ha!
Outstanding performance. The groove so organic. Fantastic musicians.
Just incredible, on a different level, love this track so much
It’s insane how good this is.
Vinnie, Vinnie, so Vinnie. Bravo!
After watching Tiger Woods I decided that I wasn’t really a golfer. Now watching Vinnie I am not a drummer either
I think it's best to chase their talent instead of be frightened by it. I know that if I make it big I would never want to make somebody want to quit. Don't give up on art! Every new artist is a new mind making new incredible things and another person who could be the greatest. Maybe that could be you!
Don't feel bad. Nobody is.
@@YoushouldNOW221 Those are encouraging words everyone should take stock in.
I've always said guys like Steve Vai, Vinnie here, Frank Zappa, etc. are forever on a quest chasing their own muse. The rest of us are just witnesses to their greatness.
But even Steve said, "It would still be nice to sell some records."
Lol haha
This is cool
That 5/4 is a killer
Yes it is. It has me in knots .
The 7/4 of Love is stronger than justice is not less killing, imho
The genius in this version of 5/4 is that it sounds and feels natural. Like Brubeck's Take 5.
Sting did a good job on this Vinnie track.
All I haveto say is. INCREDIBLE 👍🏻
LOVE EVERYTHING IN AND ABOUT THIS SONG !!!!!!
This song has everything needed to go down in a fireball. Brilliantly played 👏
Didn't know this version. So great!!!
So many shades and nuances 😮
Vinnie runnin’ circles around this great odd meter song 🎵
I can't believe I never saw this version of it before today. Awesome!
Keeping the 5/8 groove strong!
Perfection!!
Oh this is amazing... I only have heard that version which the album track is dubed over their performance
Excuse me, have you, by any chance, seen the 1?
I always been a big Megadeth fan. When the album "The System Has Failed" came out I instantly fell in love with the sound of the drums. A couple months later I read in the inside book of the CD that drums were recorded by a guy called Vinnie Colaiuta. I was like "who the f@#k is this guy. I never heard about him". I am a big Vinnie's fan now. He's a beast of drummer and one the most versatile musicians I ever heard.
Loved Vinnie's work with Zappa
Mind blowing!!!
Non dimentichiamoci che Sting canta e suona il basso completamente indipendente.
Tutti mostri al sevizio di buona musica
MARAVILLA!!!!!
Awesome! Magnifique! Bellissimo! The best from Sting!❤👏🙏
Vinnie’s sounds 😍😍😍
That drum set is miraculously mixed!
Este disco lo presentó en Rosario, Argentina; enterito y de forma impecable! Gracias Sting y banda por la belleza!
5/4 with a half time feel. Nice.
I luv this!
The song was recorded in (5
8) time at a tempo of 184 beats per minute. For the purpose of making the odd time signature more digestible for the listener, the song utilizes rhythmic displacement in the drums by implying a duple rhythmic organization.
The drum pattern spans two measures with drummer Vinnie Colaiuta playing a two bar repeating eighth note figure on the hi-hat where the accents fall on the odd numbered beats for the first measure and even numbered beats on the second measure. Colaiuta commented in a 1993 interview that he "phrased it by playing over the bar line, so the hi-hat pattern resolves every two bars". During both measures, the kick drum and snare drum land on beats one and four respectively. He also overdubbed some brush work during the middle of one of the verses so that the song would "chug a little more and differently"
5/4 in 184 bpm
...was going to say the same thing.
I was a little disappointed by the 5/8 time. Since the title mentions 7, I was expecting 7/8, but whatever. Still a cool tune.
Nothing to it... *eye starts twitching*
Not only can I not play it, I can not understand the description of it. But at least Lars UIlrich is still behind me.
David Sancious was always one of my favorite keyboard players. Hall of Famer, too.
Grande Sting con un batterista così
Just beautiful 🎶❤
Just flawless ❤
The record version is unbeatable
1 of a kind,...: Vinnie!!! I see those smiles. Ox
Perfect ditty
Nobody better than Vinnie
When I Get Grown I Wanna Play Drum's Like Vinnie Coliauta. 🤣😂😅🤗😜🤗
As good as Vinnie is I actually think the album version is waaayyyy better. His performance on the album version is unbelievable. The pocket, the perfect fills, the set ups, the outro. just phenomenal.
this is a master piece, brilliant
Yes and those fills from David Sancious, which never made it to the final on the album
Nice Sound Live 💘💘💘

Sting e banda. Que musicalidade, que toque sutil nos instrumentos fluindo esse som lindo a nos acalentar.
The master of odd time signatures and evens actually
Magique ❤
Que “ obra” espetacular.
Como n conheci antes
Obra prima! Que sonoridade!
incredibly good song... beautiful flow in 5/8...
I can play this over and over! Funny how Sting's microphone changes position during the song...
Absolute magic.

Vinnie is a gift to humanity.....Sting ain't half bad either.
