44:22 Leo gives a shout out to Michael Lorimer. I saw Lorimer play guitar and baroque guitar in the 1970s in Oregon. While playing baroque guitar, his mind went blank and he paused for 10 seconds. He had no sheet music.

We practiced together for a week and played Concerto de Tricastin and Concerto Grosso to a full house. It was the European premiere for Concerto Grosso (which was completed in 2017, I suppose). Unfortunately the concert itself wasn't recorded. But both concertos, as well as Brouwer's other pieces for guitar ensemble, have since been recorded by Camerata Argentina de Guitarras. It's a brilliant performance, I highly recommend giving it a listen!

This man has always been an apologist , often playing the race card, for a cruel dictatorship, who himself lived in the freedom and better life Spain provided him , while Cubans had to suffer great hardship and abject poverty , mostly due to the communist take over of all aspects of life in that once prosperous island, which per capita income was greater than that of Italy, Spain and was richer that even some southern states in the US, before communism almost destroyed it all. The sad reality is that many of the cultural and sports elites, like Brouwer cowered to the Castro regime , and used their talents to propagandize in favor of communism , all over Latin America and Europe , but also getting rewarded for their allegiance to the evil regime from Habana . Three things he so disingenuously omitted in this most likely scripted but for sure edited interview were: 1- That his grandmother Ernestina, like his more famous grand uncle Ernesto Lecuona , composer ''of the most famous Malaguena , who wasn't a Spaniard but a Cuban'' , had themselves Spaniard parentage like did Fidel Castro , the chess champion Capablanca , the greatest Cuban Jose Marti , as did 6 out of 10 families in the island according to the data from a census gathered by the UNESCO, right before 1959, when the afore mentioned commie dictator Castro usurped power from the people, and things got only worse to this day. 2- Very conveniently he also omitted that the same uncle , and great composer Lecuona before dying made his wish be known that he wanted to be buried in Cuba , but only after communism was gone from his island nation . Still he is buried in a New York cemetery, where Celia Cruz , who never returned to the communist island proper, is also at. 3- Cuba's industries, land and resources right before the 1959 socialism debacle, brought only by the Castro ROBolution and his band of ROBbers , was at least 90% Cuban owned for ; that was good for Cubans, most of all , unlike his lie , still towing the commie line and spewing the same false talking points , he was fed to say...or else.I T IS SHAMEFUL WHEN ARTISTS OF RENOWN LET THEMSELVES BE USED AS APOLOGISTS FOR EVIL MURDEROUS REGIMES... I disagree with your approach. Certainly numerous mistakes have been made, but the Cuban revolution emerged as a necessity and triumphed in a country with many more problems than virtues. If it hadn't been like that, believe me, I wouldn't have succeeded. But beyond politics, we are in the presence of a great musician, who has left his mark for future generations, like Celia Cruz or Lecuona himself. We should be grateful for his talent and his composition, and for representing Cuba, regardless of the system or government that prevails on the island.

Unfortunately, there is US blocking the economy of the island and other stuffs going on that damages Cuban economy. But what i think is really nice is that even in the worst socialism you have home and free health care. Things that most of the US's cittizens can not have now. This is the reason i think all this capitalist propaganda about "dictatorship" is pure bullshit. Dictatorship is what i see in most of capitalist countries where if you are against a gen@cid3, you can lose you job.
