My mind immediately thought Chidi from The Good Place lol
Aanchal Saxena Me too!!
this is one of the trippiest videos i have ever watched
We sort of learn about this in As level psychology in social influence but it’s interesting hearing it from a different viewpoint.
Agreed
this was really mentally stimulating, which i feel is the whole point of The StudyTube Project, so thank you for an amazing video!
I wait everyday for the study tube project.
The devices in the cases make me believe how unsure we are of our own mind that we have to create concrete scenarios to understand the concepts our own mind made
**brain explodes**
Id be really interested in seeing more of this stuff on your own channel Mani! this is super interesting
Who else was waiting for the StudyTube video??
I will definitely check the resources you linked on the description box (subtle way of saying I'm not sure I understood everything at 100% ...). I did enjoyed a lot your last video here, so it was a big nice surprise to see this one!
Mani, your videos are always so thought-provoking! Loving it!
i loovvve these videos of yours ! my english lit and TOK classes have been covering the topic of fate lately so this has now become extra interesting to me
We’ve just done the free will and determinism topic in a level RS (my exams have been cancelled anywayyy) but I enjoyed this. Thank you!!

this made no sense but was also very interesting so...good job?
You mentioned a few key people in this video relating to the topic. I would like to do more reading, can you please list their names so they are easier to find?
Makayla C. Harry Frank, Hunt, Cane (correct spelling?)
My brain hurts
This reminds me so much to "The crime of Lord Arthur Saville"!
Sorry, the original titol is "Lord Arthur Savile's Crime" (I'm spanish, I read it in my language so I didn't know).
I need.... More on this. Its great but I need more explanation 😅💙
My brain is breaking but I love it
Philosophy is really interesting. I never really tried it before the trolley video.
In regards to alternate possibilities, what if a person only sees one possibility when in reality there were multiple (they just saw it as not viable, impossible etc.)? Would they then be held morally responsible? I know that this is very relevant in law and crime when a person genuinely did not see another possibility. Or would this cornering be the product of previous choices that has led them down this path?
If it was due to previous choices, then that choice whether made internally or caused externally becomes more important. I guess it raises the question of when the 'first choice' was made, which intuitively would be through free will. But I also find it hard to believe that people are just born to become murderers and other unfortunate ends, because I do believe that they have some choice in whether they become that or not. I wonder if studies show that even though certain results may share characteristics, not 100% of people with those characteristics end with that result.
I don't know if I'm going in circles or this is just incredibly confusing, but I've been thinking about this in the context of daily life and different types of people and I can't seem to appease myself.
I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on this. Really enjoyed the video, Mani!
Omg 2 years of a level philosophy meant I actually understood 95% of this so proud of my teachers 💪❤️
Lol
