When is the plant series with dean going to start?
Did they get moved?
Yeah I'm keen to see the finished aquarium with the Rummy nose in there? Any link to the vid?
Watching them in their "small" quarantine tanks was hypnotic. It's going to be stellar in the eight! I can't wait. đ
Back and forth, back and forth... like ocean waves, so cool!
It's insane how those tiny fish make a big tank like his 125g look do small.
Usually It's when you put large fish in large tanks the tanks tend to appear to be smaller than they are.
So It's very interesting to see that it can be the other way around as well!
Agree. Wish I had that much money to buy a large school of fish.
That is a tiny tank for tbat maby fish
It's that second plant.... threw off everything!!! ;)
Gotta make sure there is only one plant in the 800 gallon!
đ
I used to have 12 rummynose and 12 neons in the same tank.
The neons used to follow the schooling of the rummynose. Was so cool to watch.
Neons and rummynose together are so cool man
It seemed like there was a mass infection from an exporter for CPDs a couple months ago. I ordered from a few sources and all similar symptom. A white internal growth but it was virtcal in the body. I ordered again after a couple months and now they seem healthy and stronger. A week and all still alive in QT.
Best Co-op videos = Cory, with a camera, in the fish room :-)
iv heard the word quarantine so much this year it makes me feel sick just hearing the word lets just call it putting the fish in a safe tank
I love Rummynosed Tetras. They are my favorite tetra. The 800 gallon is looking sweet. I can't wait to see it fully stocked with Rummynoses and Lady Bird.
They're my favorite schooling species besides chili rasboras.
Absolutely stunning fish! I love how tightly they school, itâs so soothing to watch. Good to know we arenât the only ones in quarantine :)
After working at a chain store and understanding shipping is a major plus as a hobbyist now. Im getting back into the hobby after a hiatus and found your videos so wonderful for all fish keepers at any stage. Iâve had tanks since I was 8 so itâs 30 years for me and SO much has changed! I remember starting out with internal filters where you had to mix the carbon and cotton and all that fun jazz.
So this is why I can't get rummynose tetras locally...
Lol same here
Yes yes yes. I'm so happy you are going with tons of small fish again, instead of the goldfish. It's not that goldfish are bad, but it made the 800 feel more like an indoor pond instead of an aquarium. I can't wait to see it.
Really looking forward to seeing this completed!
Love your videos. You donât hide anything and try to help the hobby, thank you.
Hey Cory, I always appreciate your videos for keeping 100% real. Hope you guys never change!
Looking forward to seeing it!! The New England Aquarium has a smaller rummy nose exhibit where viewers can control what side the flow is coming from in the tank so you can see them school up against the current and thereâs cool Val waving around in there too. Plus thereâs a timer for the controls so people canât over work the tetras alone day đ Pretty neat little setup though
So excited, I wouldn't mind putting them all together after quarantine because you can put your hand on your heart and say you've done your best for the fish over the course of a few months to try and secure their future.
Amazing job cory!!!! Looks beautiful!!!! That schooling is on pointđđđđđ
Looks great Cory! Canât wait to see it come together.
love those fish! tank is looking good already, cant wait to see it grown in.
Cannot wait! I bet this is going to be awesome. Your guppy videos have made me decide I need some guppies. Just placed my first order this morning and it is already packed and ready to go out!
What an awesome video. Sharing these kind of challenges and how you work through them really helps us beginners stay in the hobby (and itâs super interesting). Thank you!
Excited to see this! Love seeing huge schools of tetras
They are schooling so well. Next time I 'll go with rummys for my tank. Thanks for the video. Your videos brought me back to the hobby.
Love the fact you chose a ton of Rummynose for the 800g. Cant wait to see this!
Can't wait to see them all in the 800 gallon! its going to look awesome!
You are amazing, bro. Thank you for all that you do.
Thanks for sharing the ârealityâ of the hobby. Nobody is perfect.
So excited to see this completed â€ïž
Cannot wait to see this! Good luck đ
I also had a bad Cardinal Tetra order recently. Half DOA most others died off in the first few days. It's a tough thing to go through as a newer hobbiest so it's nice to see that we all share similar struggles.
The 800 gallon looks great ~ canât wait to see this tank in the future with all of them in there đžđ
Wow â€ïžâ€ïž it will looks amazing đđ
You should show us every step â€ïž
Just can't wait
Hey Cory, getting a school of platinum rummynose for my 55g scaped tank. Looking forward to seeing them nice and tight together. đ
Cant wait to see that its gona be awesome to look at and sorry for that many fish lost rummy nose is one of my top 3 fish they are constantly on the move đ
Iâm super exited for you! I just setup my tank to be planted, cost me 180 dollars in gravel, hopefully itâll be worth it!
That is going to look amazing in the 800 gallon! Looking forward to seeing that completed. By the way Cory, I have a question for you. Off the top of your head, do you remember what the empty dry weight of the 800 gallon is? Just the bare tank, nothing else. Thank you in advance. Keep doing what your doing. Love the the knowledge and expertise you share.đ
Can't wait to see what the finished tank looks like. I bet it'll be awesome! I really like the scape, should look great when it grows in some more. The long squiggly plant (yup, that's my official name for it) on the left is really cool. Is that the same type as the one in the goldfish tank? đđżđ
That's going to look incredible. Awesome setup đđżđđż
Love your honest videos
Can't wait to see the tank once it is done!!
Wow the 800 gallon looks amazing. Can't wait to see more.
My favorite kind of video! Thanks!
I canât wait to see Ladybird in there with all those tetras! Cory, I want to thank you again for turning me from a guy who adopted a goldfish to a full on addict. I have a question about tank size and stocking loads though as I research larger tanks. Sometimes it seems like tank size is suggested due to the size of the fish and sometimes I hear about the bio load. Bigger is always better but if you donât have much space for large tanks, will more frequent water changes take care of the tank size issue- as long as itâs big enough for the fish to grow and be healthy of course. Thanks!!
I hope you get an answer from Cory and I'm not telling you wrong, but the short answer is yes. When it comes to size/bio-load, you CAN get away with "overstocking" by using more water changes. However, I wouldn't really recommend it... It sounds good on paper but "more frequent water changes" will wear you down in the long run. I have found that packing literally as many plants as possible in your tank will greatly increase the amount of bio-load you can handle as well as reduce the need for water changes. Either way, I would stay away from "overstocking" unless you're talking about more minor examples, e.g. 10-15% over the recommended stock levels, not 2-3 times what you should have in there.
Chad Windham thank you so much for this response. My tanks are heavily planted and well established. Iâm just thinking of adding 6-8 white clouds in the mix. The plants and snails basically take care of most of the waste and my ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels are always around 0 (closer to 20 ppm nitrate). I only need to water change once a week. I think Iâll go ahead and try it and if it does seem overcrowded I can move them. Thanks!!!
100th comment. THIS IS AMAZING! You know I love the Val/neon combo and this is the same concept and I canât wait to see this. For everyone really wanting to see this thing, check back in a year and the plants will look amazing! Love love love this
I once had a 4ft fish tank, that had at least 100 cardinal tetras in it, that use to swim back and forth, and it was beautiful!!! Cardinal tetras and discus are my favorite fish, especially together.
Looking good đ, will look awesome when fish are addded. đ
DANG BRO Rummynose Tetras are my favorite! Pumped to see them in action with your puffer!
WOW, that sux that you lost soo many in the second shipment. I have 50 rummynose tetra's here in my 4ft tank tank and I love the way they school together. They will look awesome in your 800g tank.
Awesome Cory!
Good stuff bro...Hoorah!!
A valuable perspective to share. An unknown X factor (weather conditions not considered by the buyer) can make a world of difference and result in ragging on the seller about something the seller really had no control over. Looking forward to watching them school in the bigger tank. Thanks.
Great mind think alike bruh!!! I got rummynose in the quarantine as well.
Yes! This is gonna be awesome! Rummynose are my favorite fish
Upgraded my school of 6 to 12 and I have been mesmerized since, this is going to be next level!
it is so soothing to watch them swim. Like waves in the ocean.
Youâre doing amazing things for this hobby!!!!
Hi, did you make a video of these in the 800 as I couldn't find it in your videos, very cool set up
I have absolutely fallen in love with rummy nose tetra. The whole schooling fish thing is my favourite thing to watch in my tank and their colours and the little red faces are so cool. Easily one of my favourites.
Grate video thanks Cory
My Favourite fish đ, sorry to hear about the massive loss, can't wait to see them. In the 800g
They look so cool! Canât wait to see them in the 800.
Looks great!!! Love it!!
That is so true, i think the shipping is what hurts. Noise, vibration, slamming the box around, and temperature play a huge part in the purchase of fish
Love rummy nose! I have a 40 breeder with 20 in the tank lots of movement! With my l184s seems to work.
Those Rummynose are going to look amazing in the 800! I can already see possible swim paths.
Thanks a bunch I sell fish at a pet store and educating people on some of the problems I face is awesome!
What a great plan!
I can only imagine how much work goes into getting an 800 gallon tank up and running. Iâm still years away from something as large as a 120. lol
I'm so so excited! I'm planning a 200 with similar sized fish đ
It's going to look amazing!
Information is awesome
đł wow looks like the ocean with those large schools. Fantastic!
Thats going to look awesome!
Totally something I'd do if I had an 800 gallon, a large school of small fish. Can't wait to see!
It looks cool but if you had a tank that big just go marineâŠa reef tank that large would look insane
cant wait to see final results đđ
In an Ivan mikolji video he observes rummy nose follow freshwater rays around. That tank is large enough for a ray or two.
Vendors tend to over crowd them in the bags. Not enough water per fish. Not enough oxygen in the bag. Delayed shipping causes the pH to drastically drop in the shipped water, and ammonia is extremely dangerous if the vendor has high pH water source. Some vendors just don't know how to adjust shipping methods to accommodate changes in weather.
Those rummynose look great. Iâd feed lots of tubifex and bloodworm to fatten them up.
Hope ladybird enjoys them as much as we do.
Looks amazing.
Hmm, maybe for that second huge order, the supplier didn't have enough in stock, and had to source what he needed to fill you order, from a different supplier (or suppliers). That might explain the survival rate difference between orders.
They are so much fun to watch
The 800 is going to look amazing!
Enjoy man, I've done something similar with a smaller tank and a "bit" less fishes years ago. Tanks are expensive in Hawai'i so had to make do with a standard 55gal tank. Built a similar cross flow setup that is on a timer to reduce the flow rate so the fishes can rest at night. I actually went with real driftwoods and used lots of real plants of various morphology. Getting some of them was really difficult due to Hawai'i strict live importation laws! The goal was a tank that's mostly self-sufficient with a mix of tetras, dozen siamese algae eaters, a dozen bottom-feeding loaches of several small species, malaysian trumpet snails, and small freshwater shrimps. The tetras was a mix of several different species that looks very different to each other so that they would school in separate groups. I found out the hard way that Neons and Cardinals are too similar and tended to school in one large group! The tetras was Neons/Cardinals, Rummy-Noses, Serpaes, Diamonds, and one other species I cannot remember at the moment. Had about 50-100 of each in the tank. Was cool to watch them swim in the tank in separate schools with them taking turns in spending time in the open and hiding in the dense growths, all the while maintaining the school groups. The siamese function as algae control, the loaches helps keep the snails in check and aerate the substrate, the snails and shrimp are bottom cleaners, and the tetras keep the shrimp population under control. It took a while before I found the right population density of each group for a balanced tank that only required an occasional replenishment of micro-fauna feeders for the tetras.
Ran across yer video by accident and seeing yer rummies schooling is making me yearn to restart fish-keeping again. Unfortunately, I currently living at a rental that has strict aquarium limits. (Basically just 1 10-gallon max, which is too small for me, I only use 20s for individual quarantines and water conditioning.) Maybe in a few years when I have my own place...
I want to do something similar one day, but on a much smaller scale with Chili Rasboras đ
The 800 looks awesome! Excited to see it fill out. Really stinks about that "Universal" company because the product looks amazing in the tank.
Makes sense, I had a 6 no problems at all introducing then I added another 4 from a new batch at my lfs. 2 died within 24 hours and all parameters were fine.
I own five rummy nose and they are one of my favorite fish in my tank
When will they be added to the 800 tank? Great video new subđđŸ
Awesome, that tank has changed a lot, LOL..where are all the goldfish?
Love this Idea!!
Isn't ladybird's beak going to absolutely scratch up the acrylic?
I can see the setup look beautiful the way you destribe how you want it to look.
I call them Water Lemmings. The whole bunch will try getting into any sump over flow, Cannister intakes and even returns.
Dang. I can tell you really do care about your fish! Great job here Corey.
The 800 gallon is looking good Corey.
Sometimes I think about what I'd do with a giant tank but then I look over at my 10 gallon shrimp tank and think "this is much more my speed"
I love Rummynose and Bloodfins, great little Tetras
Absolute best schooling fish, I got them because of this channel!
once quarantine time finished, how do you move the fish to a normal display tank? do you have any producer to do it, or simply net them and put it to display tank? if you share that too, it will be great info.
Love it!!
