    How about putting a shooting tarp around the base of the shed so that the legs and steps are covered when looking from the front towards the back of the steps? Or, maybe putting branches on the front side from the bottom edge down to the ground to break up the image of the legs and steps?

    I use those rubber stables mats at Tractor Supply to cover the floor in the shooting house, works great, great videos

      That is a good idea! If this rug doesn't work, I'll try that!

      Not a bad idea! The first step I just put one of those camper step rugs on, fits perfectly and cleans my boots off.

    I'd like to see how you built your windows and also how is your blind holding up with non treated framing?

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Před 3 lety

      Just did another video yesterday on the outside putting up privacy lattuce. Structure is bone dry and holding up well after a year in the Florida elements. Thick barn/fence paint is the key to keeping lumber rot free.

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Před 3 lety

      Windows were purchased from "Deerview" window company.

  • @AASparkChaser
    @AASparkChaser Před 3 lety

    Just use the window ledge!

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Před 3 lety

      325 yards to the back of the plot, I need more support than a thin window ledge. Not to mention I use this to sight my rifles in. It's a multi purpose bench.

    • @AASparkChaser
      @AASparkChaser Před 3 lety

      @@TKCL I understand the reasons for a solid gun rest. I have added my own on kit built stands. I just thought your windows looked quite solid.

  • @grayson60

    What were your dimensions on the shelf? Did I miss that part?

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Před 3 lety +1

      No I didn't state it. I don't remember them, I'll have to check them another day and let you know

    • @grayson60
      @grayson60 Před 3 lety

      Thanks for checking. I’m a little over 200 miles from the camp and would like to come close on the dimensions and pre build the shelf before I go up.

    • @grayson60
      @grayson60 Před 3 lety

      I also built a permanent small shelf outside the window which gave me a little more room on the inside before I knew about the shelf you built inside. Still would like your dimensions. Thanks.

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Před 3 lety +1

    Great video bud! Yeah got a buck that’s tearing up some of my young pine trees! This severe cold we’ve had has really damaged my plots. Man your very good with wood. My carpenter skills are basic AT BEST! Lol. 😂 I’ve also subscribed to this channel. See ya on the next one.

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Před 4 lety +1

      It's been raining for two days here, cold and windy. My wife and I sat in the blind in comfort this morning, nothing is moving in this weather though. Hope your plots make it.

  • @bigpapigreg
    @bigpapigreg Před 3 lety

    Nice project Bigun! I dig it!!! Question, what are the angles that you cut for your stairs? Top where it mounts to the blind and the bottom that sits on yer stepping stones? I struggle with angles!!! I aint building no piano........ but id like it to fit good and flush. Thanks for yer time and good luck this coming season............ its right around the corner!!!!

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Před 3 lety

      I didn't measure any angles, I propped the board up and then used a level to transfer the bottom line and top lines to the board before cutting

  • @codys8754
    @codys8754 Před 2 lety +1

    Awesome job on that shooting bench! Pretty clever that it can fold away too. I plan on incorporating this idea on my current deer blind, which has a fixed table. By the way, what state do you live in?

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Před 2 lety

      Thank you for watching, I live in Florida.

    How did you install Windows to insure wasps are not getting like in East and Central Texas

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Před 4 lety

      I purchased the rubber door seal material that's sold at hardware stores and stapled it to the outside of the wall so when you close the windows it seals to the window and wall.

    What is the height of your windows from the floor? Thanx!

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Před 4 lety

      I honestly don't know and will have to measure one day. I sat down in a office chair and measured up to eye level and centered my window opening based on that. I have several videos on the shooting house if you browse around the channel.

    I am looking to build a elevated blind myself I was wondering how much did everything cost

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Před 4 lety

      I didn't add it up, but it was somewhere around a thousand. Less than half of what some of these blind companies are wanting for a 6x6 blind. Building the door and windows yourself is a huge cost savings.

  • @cratxn1
    @cratxn1 Před 4 lety

    You have an ingenious mind...project that in your videos by improving your English...there is nothing that makes us Southerners look more stupid than speaking poorly...good ideas in planning and building your blind ( very smart stairs design )

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  Před 4 lety +6

      I for one don't care if I project myself as stupid based on the way I talk. Too many people care far to much what others think, I learned a long time ago to be happy in my own skin and not worry how others see me. While I understand where you are coming from, I'm perfectly happy being just the way I am (southern accent included). Other than that, thanks for kinder comments on my ideas.
