- In an interview with Julia Hartley-Brewer on TalkTV, deputy leader of Reform UK Party, Ben Habib was asked if he would 'let migrants drown' in the sea on their way to British shores, to which he appears to respond by saying 'absolutely'.
Andrew Marr was joined by Reform's leader, Richard Tice, ahead of the local elections to discuss his party's performance and more. Andrew pressed Tice on Habib's comments, the Reform Leader set his stall clear.

Just to add balance...and I also wish she hadnt gone, but....we must not lose sight that LBC is an employer and as with any employer you have to fit with the companies principles etc, it would be like a train driver telling everybody they should travel on a bus...that may be the correct approach but the employer who pays the salary will make their own decision.

Why does Reform get to occupy this nebulous position where they're allowed to claim whatever nonsense they want as perfectly plausible policy? There's no need to cost anything or deal with silly little things like international law when Reform is answering questions. Just whatever harebrained ideas they think sounds impressive to someone who doesn't understand the topic. Also when in doubt ignore what they've said that's not what they meant to say because answering questions is difficult. Can't expect Reform to answer questions with any competency the poor dears.

Reform is getting performed like a real party, despite only having one seat, gained through defection, with a lengthy history of electoral defeats. But if we're giving Reform this unearned platform it should come with journalists doing their job and asking them proper questions. Like how is any of this going to work? Why do you think any of this has any chance to work? What are the easily foreseeable consequences of your plan and how are you going to address them?
Over in reality since FPTP is still in existence they have absolutely no chance of forming a government or even the opposition. That means they can campaign on free fish and chips or completely eliminating the NHS waiting list overnight. They'll never be in a position to have to deliver anything since they aren't a real party. Which is fine but then stop platforming then like they're a real party. Only invite them on to speak alongside the other outliers like Galloway, the Greens, and the Alliance. Afterall they have an equal number of seats and they at least won an election, unlike reform. Could even platform the SDLP, Alba and Plaid Cymru who collectively have seven times as many seats as Reform.
Genuinely take a second and try and remember who the leader of the SDLP is and the last time you saw them being interviewed on LBC. Not going to form the next government, neither is Tice but currently has twice as many seats as Reform. And yet here we are still talking about the man who has yet to win a single seat.

adding to the list of disgraced political representatives from Wellingborough, Ben Habib might not have meant it when he said "absolutely" but he definitely meant it when he said "Border force should mean border FORCE, we have to be prepared to do that... if they scupper the dinghy then YES they have to SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES". He was trying very hard to say yes that what's he wants to do without just saying it. You really see the true form of these people when they get agitated, they turn very quickly, and this Tesco Value Farage is no better either.

Maritime law and international law STATES, you CAN'T push boats back to France without, A) A returns agreement with France and B) The consent of those in the boat. Does not Maritime law say you need a licence to carry passengers, limits on the numbers per vessel, safety equipment, flares, radio, with severe fines if you break the rules.

If UK would open an asylum processing centre in France (as suggested by France) people wouldn't need to risk their lives crossing the channel. It's not a simple solution, it would require money, man power and a lot of paperwork but it would work because it's what used to happen.

Richard Tice is talking nonsense, if we want to stop people coming via the boat, allow them to apply for asylum in UK embassies like all countries on earth does. Asylum seekers will have no reasons to try and cross the channel anymore. Trying to say one country should stop them from leaving their country to come to the UK when the UK is also paying failed asylum seekers to leave the UK to go to any country is laughable.
Lastly, over 90% of immigrant don't come via these boats, even if you stop all the boats, it will help with the silly deaths but it won't make much difference to immigration numbers. Sorry to burst your bubble Richard Tice.
