It's not quite the matchup that it was last year between the mid-range offerings from Samsung and OnePlus. Despite the price gap, I would choose the Galaxy A54 over the Nord N30 because of several factors. There are too many downgrades on the N30 this year, and while it's still a decent phone, you will get more from the A54.

Unlike last year, I prefer the Samsung mid-ranger this time around...even with the higher price.
@Shan_Shah as someone that owns it, it really isn't a rip off, also you get less software support for the older s21 and an uglier design.

The a54 is 90% the same as the a52 I've been carrying for 2 years, just with an smaller screen for some odd reason. The same 6gb ram from 2021, which was pretty good at the time, today its so so, how's going to be in a year and a half? Samsung punked Americans, they sell the a54 with 8gb ram overseas, they think Americans are too dumb to read and comprehend phone specs and will buy it just to get the Samsun name.
You are paying $200 more for a smaller yet slightly better screen, an os that has a better reputation, a more premium look and feel, slightly slower day to day performance, and more than slightly inferior performance for gamers.
The drawback on that slightly better screen is burn in. After 2 years the a52 is still quite usable, but the screen is definitely not the same as out of the box.
I'm having a hard time justifying the additional $200, seems like you are mostly paying for the name.
To be honest, I would consider the Nord 30 by One Plus over the A54, especially for the price that it is. Headphone jack, expandable storage, physical fingerprint reader, and a 5000maH battery.
Yes OLED panels are sharper and high in contrast. But not every phone should have OLED screens. There are customers that suffer from pulse width modulation via OLED displays, not much so on LCD screens.
50 watt fast charging on the Nord makes up for no wireless charging, and I can live with out wireless charging honestly.
I feel that the Nord having the major essentials that most brands have removed (example, expandable storage, headphone jack, and the charger) is a better value.
Nord N30 is meh at best. I use it as a third phone, there really isn't anything great about the phone
I wish the Nord N30 had a better camera and chipset and supported 60fps filming with the camera.

Could you compare the a54 with the moto g stylus 5g 2023? The latter seems better but I haven't seen a comparison yet.
Maybe it was just luck of the draw that the N20 was my first Android phone ever. It feels so much more premium than iOS. The unlocked N20 is still $300 on Amazon. It kept its value. Feels good. I always heard rumors from inside the Apple prison that Android phones depreciate their cost fast from like $300 to $30. Not true at all.
I have used the a54 for around a week now. Haven't encountered a single dropped frame. This might just be me not being a power user.
But overall I think it's great if you get it below the retail price.

Is the a54 worth it for $180 more though? When I look up the 5G bands for AT&T it says it has none, not sure if anyone can let me know if this is wrong.
I'm about usage time exhausting the most from one charge and the charging speed is amazing. The operating system is awesome. In the box charger
I own and operate op 7 pro and it's a 2019 phone it's aged beautifully I fully trust OnePlus over Google. All day. In the states, OnePlus is severely underrated. Simply bc ppl don't know of the brand.

I don't know! Not available in the US, but people seem happy with the A34 performance.
For the a54 is the constant on screen time that you were getring 6 hours or was that 6 hours for the whole day off and on

Nice job but I would have liked to hear a speaker test between the two phones .... I thought I heard the speakers were really good on the n30?
Speaker tests don't translate well into the camera. At least not the way I have the mic. Speakers are ok on both. The N30 just has loud speakers, they aren't bad...but they do get very loud.

I'm considering going back to the a54 especially since it has 4k for cameras and years of software and os updates. The Nord had that charging which is really really making this decision a hard one
I got myself an A54 last week! Dont even hesitate dude! Its perfect
The N30 has better battery life for gaming . One of my jobs besides being a FD, is doing behind the scene tests for many companies. I and dozens of other testers where super amazed on the N30 performance. The A54 gets a 8/10. The N30 gets a 9/10. It's great that the A54 has different color options .
The fast charging is nice, but most phones should do well on a full charge through the day. I mainly like the 6.7-inch screen.

Edit: and i also heard that the a54 doesn't have wall charger 😮 so it's easily the n30 it includes all in the box. ( i will have to buy a case cause i hate the fingerprints)
So guys they have a deal on the A54, switch to metro pcs and get it anywhere from $200-$260 max, (got mine for 260 cuz I had to change my number), however if you bring your own number from another carrier you are looking at about $200💯💯

My buddy Steve still watching old videos because it's great. I want to tell you that I downloaded pixel camera no issues and it destroys a54 camera. I always look for better ways to advance camera so midrange I never use stock camera. Other than that I don't play games I've used both phone and u can go either way a54 vs nord n30 5g I'm using nord n30 5g now but thinking about going back to Samsung. Other than oled panel on nord n20 5g I must say it's better than performance on n30 screen is better on n20 that's about it a54 destroys nord n20 and n30 easily ❤

Both are garbage OLED screen with PWM flicker.
Overall the pixel 7a is still the best of then. But the A54 is absolutely a great device. Samsung did a great job on that A54 and it is a absolutely upgrade from the rather bad A53.
I go back and forth on the 7a, but it has advantages for sure.
@@StevealiciousTech performance is definitely better on the 7A it uses googles flagship chip. And then wireless charging is great too. But both devices this year are excellent.
Watching from my Samsung A54...very happy for my choice everything runs smooth display and camera are gorgeous...the hate comments at first made me confused but your videos prove them wrong it was a huge help
since we adding other phones beyond the two being shown iPhone 14 Pro Max is the God to all theses phones lol

Performance wise there not similar. In geekbench, multi core score of the N30 is 2000 and the A54 2800. The exynos 1380 is comparable to the snapdragon 778 at least not the 695...
Yeah, but Geekbench doesn't matter. Never has. Have to use them. In real world performance, it's not that striking a difference.
I can achieve high settings in COD with a54 8gb, it' not a matter of CPU it's just that you're limited in RAM
Might be the ram, then. Mine defaulted to medium.

I've had a Galaxy a52 for almost 2 years. I never had or even saw anything about a a53, but comparing the specs of my a52 vs the a54, the upgrades are very incremental. Two years ago 6gb ram was descent, what's the average time someone keeps a phone for? 1.5-2 years? How will the same 6gb ram from 2021 look in 2026? There is no excuse to keep the same 6gb ram for the US and allow 8gb overseas. Upgrades to hardware, processor, gpu, it's virtually the same...yet for some reason they felt the need to shrink the screen somewhat. I don't think I have ever upgraded phones to go with one that had a smaller screen.
The screen on my a52 is good, it was significantly better than what I was using before, it's a bright, really good screen.....but......burn in is becoming a factor. It's not the the point where its having any real impact in use or but the Android keypad is clearly visibly burnt in, the top portion of the display that coincides with youtube, you can clearly see the shade of colors change. I've heard this is an issue with Amoled screens but never experienced it, now I understand why people with thee amoled screbs try to keep the display no brighter than necessary,
I don't think either of these are a clear winner, each may have a small edge in certain areas. Then it rally comes down to paying an additional $200 for the Samsung name. A more premium look and feel, if you have the phone out people might think its a S series which ups your social credit score 20 points.

Actually snap dragon 695 has a lower gaming score than exynos 1380. But yeah nord 30 is such a down grade. All they did was slap 120 hz and faster charging.
My friend Steve I realized u really bash the one plus nord n30 5g. I always watch your videos. I've had both phones price a54 lost. Now amoled is great but one plus isn't bad for ips. Now for the n20 5g u glorify that phone. Here trade offs on all 3 phones you mention. Nord n30 5g has bigger battery Than the others 8 gigs of ram. Speaker on n20 is trash no software update ever. A54 is good it does lag. 1000 phones are not no longer worth my money because soon another midrange will come out that's better. Than model before. So midrange is getting better than ever and flagship phone are going to fall unless u are rich. I'm using nord n30 I like it and I've had the best of the best. I'm name a phone that will destroy all 3 phones 60hrz and all across the board no more software after andriod 13 LG v60 will destroy all these phone put together right now

After the fact, they realized they made the N20 too good, so they made up for it with the N30.

I don't know why people keep treating Oneplus N series like midrange phones. They are not. It's a budget option.
The Galaxy A5x series is supposed to be above the Oneplus N series which means the N30 is supposed to compete against phones like the A34 not the A54.
The A53 just sucked so much it ended up making the N20 look better than it was(still a very good phone on its own) and I guess that confused some people.
A54's competition is the Oneplus Nord 3 that's gonna come out soon and that one shits all over the A54 (it's Oneplus Ace 2V in Asia for now). Probably won't be available in the USA though, of course.
a34 is very similar to a54 so a34 still wins
