Tragically and wrongfully taken from us on May 3rd in Florida, Roger's memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Roger's commitment to his country, community, and family exemplified a life of service and sacrifice. As we come together to celebrate his life, we also extend our deepest condolences to his mother, Chantemekki Fortson, and the entire Fortson family.
May this service be a time of reflection, love, and remembrance as we honor a true hero. Rest in peace, Roger Fortson. You will forever be missed.

I personally know the mother…my heart is so so heavy…please keep her and family in prayer 🙏 losing a child is very hard to deal with. I have a cousin who loss both of her kids…the pain will never go away….please keep her in prayer 🙏 😢

As a fellow veteran, I am deeply saddened and troubled to hear about the senseless killing of Senior Airman Roger Fortson by police in Florida. Airman Fortson bravely served our country, only to lose his life needlessly to police violence here at home. It fills me with grief to see yet another Black servicemember, who dedicated his life to our nation, die in this way.
Incidents like this are a sobering reminder that even those who wear the uniform are not immune to the systemic racism and injustice that continues to plague policing in America. It shows how far we still have to go to root out bias and brutality in law enforcement, and to ensure that every person, regardless of the color of their skin, can expect fair treatment and due process.
My heart goes out to Airman Fortson's family, friends and fellow Airmen as they cope with this devastating loss. I stand with them in mourning and in the continued call for meaningful reform, increased accountability, and justice. Senior Airman Fortson's service and sacrifice will not be forgotten. We must honor his memory by working to build a society where tragedies like this no longer occur, and where every person's life, dignity and humanity is equally valued and protected.
I saw most the body cam. 1. He was under the influence of alcohol. 2. He held a Glock in his right hand as he stood behind apt. #4001, Listening as the Deputy banging repeatedly, he WAS YELLING “Police, Open Your Door! OPEN THE DOOR! (The apt manager called the police because neighbors were reporting that he was having an argument with someone and this had been going on for a long time. Someone went over to his apartment. I’m not sure if it was a person selling something, but when he opened the door, he threatened them it all on the body camera, so when that person went down to the office, he notified the manager that something was wrong with that guy. Therefore the manager called the sheriffs department to go up and do a welfare check and make sure that the young man and his woman friend were OK. The part where the shooting happened was deleted so the investigators from different jurisdictions would have a fresh opinion, because they would be the only ones to see the actual shooting and watch CAUSED the deputy to feel like he was about to be shot by this airman. I noticed the young man appeared to be concerned and Disoriented. Of COURSE HERE COMES THE RACE BATING LAWYERS…… GOING TO spin another false narrative and try for that “Ghetto Lotto” jackpot. Especially that slow talking “Kingfish” Amos and Andy lawyer Big Ben Clunk! “Lawd how’ Mercy Baby! What you gonna get ? what you gonna get? Hold out ya’ hand because you ain’t gettin chit!

That's a lie the officer was at the wrong apartment that's #1 The officer then knocked at his door and then hid so he couldn't see him in plain view in the peep hole #3 he had the right to bear arms legally and the gun was pointed down not at the officer.. “We we’re just doing our job” but Thank God for the Body Cam Evidence. As a Mother/ Military Mother, I know that God will give you strength to get through. You raised an Amazing son and I thank you again. You are in Great hands with Pastor and New Birth Church, God is Able to carry you through! Trust Jesus!

You were willing to give your life for your country if need be, but your own country via police officers, took your life away due to a senseless, idiotic, and lack of training that should have never come to the point of murder. Please remember one thing before you go to the election booth in November 2024...Vote "policy" over party...The Democratic Party and the Republican Party have both been very tepid when it comes real policing and criminal justice reform in this country...In fact...after nearly four years...the George Floyd Policing Reform Act is still languishing in committee and not one executive order has come from the White House to force change in this area...Support "individual" candidates who will be dedicated into putting in the necessary hard work to spark and enact critical and long needed change in this area regardless of political party affiliation...We need more new "grass-roots" candidates who are not corrupted by the same structural status-quo system in Washington DC...
