  • Overview of some of the issues/fixes for the Hornady LNL AP Press. These are a few of the issues I had starting out. Some of these are just beginner issues with this particular press, but I just want everyone to have better luck out of the gate than I did. Overall, I love this press and will use this one for a long time to come.

    I cannot thank you enough! I ran about 500 38 specials, then around 1,000 9mil with no issues. I then changed over to 45 colt and noticed the shell plate was not lining up with the primer section properly. Always when the drive hub was at the 11 oclock position, I could not prime properly. Drove me nuts. Was about to call Hornady when I watched your video. (2) 1/8 turns on the left pawl, and now I am rocking!!! Thanks Again!!!!!

      i may have the same issue. I made about 5k 38 special with this press. Then, a few years later, I want to start reloading 45 ACP and after changing the under bolt and primer slide to the large one, the primers seeded for about 5 times, and now will not seed. Without a case in the press, it looks like it turns fine and the primer is presenting well, but with a case, I push forward and it will not seed .

    Great and informative. I've been tweaking and trying to time my press for weeks with the pawl adjustments, and I believe that I occasionally went too far in my adjustments, or flat kept confusing the 2 pawls. As you stated also, KEEP YOUR ADJUSTMENTS SMALL!! Thanks for posting Jeremy!

    I just bought one of these presses. Installed and set it up over the weekend. Thought I had everything going right, but something caused it to jam, breaking the index wheel and one of the pawls. They're sending replacement parts after I contacted them. And thanks to your video, I'll know what to do about adjusting the pawls when I replace them. Thanks!

    Usually when the primer feed assembly gets stuck. The little nut under the plate that holds the primer pusher is backing out. Just tighten it back up.

    So I have 2 reloading kits my main is The RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Master Reloading kit.
    My second is the Hornady Lock-N-Load Classic Kit. But my main problem is i keep
    Finding rust on some parts of my Hornady kit I clean in regularly, use everything I am supposed to to keep it clean and I even do exactly as the Manuel says to clean it. I take very great care of all of my reloading Presses, kits, Gear, Dies, accessories etc. but I keep finding rust on my Hornady classic kit and also on two of my die sets. My question is why? What am I not doing or doing wrong? Everyone I talk to says well
    You are doing everything you are supposed to but still they keep turning up with rust after even a month of non-use
    They begin to show signs of rust. I don’t know what I should do to clean the rust off I’ve used gun cleaner and gun oils like the Manuel stated and what should I use to stop It from Happening again? What is the cause I don’t keep Them in places with moisture I even have placed moisture packs to keep moisture out of the stuff.

    Nice info. on my press resizing lined up perfectly but on station 5 seems when tapper and crimp, the rounds going up on a slight angle, when on the down stroke it's a little tight. I am reloading 45 acp and have the tapper crimp set. I have the crimp adjusted to 471-472, thoughts?

      Don, try removing the eye and look at both of the lock and load bushings, the one in the press and the one on your dye for a burr. If you don't see anything try reinstalling 180 degrees out from where it was before.

    I have had a serious problem with primers not wanting to set up in 9mm brass. New brass . . . it seems like perhaps the brass might be a tad off to the left or the right . . . can't find out which one . . . brass just does not allow the primer to go in smoothly. Perhaps every 3rd or 4th one goes in smoothly . . . the others need serious . . . serious pressure to get them to go in .............. Have any suggestions . . . ideas . . . ????

      The primer portion of this machine is the one part that seems to get out of whack from time to time. There are little adjustments that need to be made, as described in the video. Keep playing with it and you will dial it in.

    • @dwightcimino1040
      @dwightcimino1040 Před 3 lety +1

      @@jeremyminter1283 Actually, Jeremy . . . you are correct. I got frustrated with the brand new brass and primer combination, not having ever tried them before. I fished out some old fired brass . . . and some different primers . . . voila . . . they went together like ice cream and chocolate syrup. Then I played with the problem primers and the old brass . . . they worked most of the time (over 90%) . . . The problem cases did the same with different primers . . . Moral of the story . . . just got one of those rare cases where "these two" components don't work well together. One of life's little mysteries I guess.

    • @jeremyminter1283
      @jeremyminter1283  Před 3 lety

      These presses have issues, need constant adjustment and cleaning. Shell plates work lose, need a lock washer. My press sat for a year and I can't even raise the ram and advance it, it's locked up. When I removed the shell plate, there was quite a bit of rust around the hole at bottom of shell plate. My press is in my house. If priming is a constant issue, I would hand prime and skip that station. Im switching over to a Dillon. 9mm is too light of a round for this press , powder gets spilled when indexing a lot of people said.

    Have you ever had this issue: the primers will not seed? They fall into place fine, and it appears (without a case) that the primer coming up high enough to seed.... but when I put a case in it just won't seed. Any ideas?
