You should come down to International Noise Conference in February!

Very cool! Is the external signal being multiplied and sent into the ring mod?

yes! multed out of the preamp: 1 output and VCO-1 sawtooth to the ring mod, the other preamp output replaces the normaled VCO-1 input to the filter. VCO-1, noise generator and VCO-2 modulating the filter. VCO-1 modulating VCO-2, and VCOs 2 and 3 cross mod with the pulsewaves. envelope follower triggered by the audio in and being used to modulate VCO-3. that's pretty much the patch!

@@ColinMarstonOmnisoundawesome, thanks for the rundown! I sort of underestimated ring modulators for a long time but recently I've become obsessed. Micing the speakers adds a nice extra layer of sci fi grit too 🤘

@@portamentopirate yeah ring mod is great! and very flexible depending on what the inputs are. a big part of the sound of this is complex audio rate modulation of the filter though. ring moded audio then filtered with cross-moded audio rate oscillators modulating the filter. the 2600 is so convenient for setting up something like that very quickly. and yeah the speakers rule! nice combo with the "fake" stereo spring reverb (phase inverted left and right for the reverb signal)

@@ColinMarstonOmnisound oh yeah I love that liquid sound of FMing a filter. I picked up a 2600 a couple months ago and it really is the most inspiring and self contained spaceship of a synth. Thanks for sharing some notes on that patch and happy ARPing 🌠

@@portamentopirate sick! agreed. this record i made is mostly the 2600 (i also used a software version of the infamous ANS synth): groeth.bandcamp.com/album/unavailable-accessing
