  • In this video, I make an end table by gluing a bunch of wood blocks together. It's cooler than it sounds though! I promise.

    Hey Zac! Excellent video and project! I am by no means a furniture finisher, stained glass is my thing, but could you have put a spray finish on? Wouldn’t that have been easier? With potentially less drips? Not that I saw any, just curious. Stay safe and looking forward to the next project!

    • @ZacBuilds
      @ZacBuilds  Před 4 lety

      Thank you and good question Martha! I think maybe someone who was more experienced than I probably could've sprayed on a finish much faster than I brushed it on. That being said, since there were so many internal crevices and spots for the finish to collect and pool I didn't want to attempt it. I'm not very good at spraying finishes yet, I'm much more comfortable brushing stuff on. It's definitely something I'd like to learn to do in the near future though!

    • @ZacBuilds
      @ZacBuilds  Před 4 lety +1

      Ya exactly, sorry I should've been more explicit in the video. I did it all in one shot, which maybe wasn't the best way to do it. I probably could've saved myself running it through the sander to clean it up if I had been more patient and did it one layer at a time.

    • @ZacBuilds
      @ZacBuilds  Před 4 lety +5

      Really good question Kevin. Unfortunately I think I'm going to have to give you a pretty unsatisfying answer. I rarely sell my projects because I know I'm not likely to get back what I put into them. I had 3 or 4 days into building this thing (I could probably do it in half that if I wasn't filming though) and a couple hundred dollars worth of materials . Not to mention overhead and the cost of all the tools, etc. If I wanted to realistically make money doing this I think I'd have to charge at least $1,500 for it.
      Maybe in the future I'll find buyers willing to spend that kind of money, but for now I'm happy selling my surplus projects to friends and family at prices that basically just cover the costs of the materials involved. I do it for the love of the build and enjoy sharing my work with people like you. Hopefully one day the ad revenue from these youtube videos will make up the difference haha
