Nintendo's biggest mistake was not designing the switch to be able to take advantage of a "pro-dock". People can keep there original switch but buy the pro dock for high performance as an upgrade.

Brcause as a handheld the SteamDeck is far superior, I can play all types of PC games that dont support a controller with a controller. SteamDeck feels like a refined device ROG Ally feels like a beta product.

Danger Danger Danger Danger. Do NOT charge any Lithium or LiPo battery the way he shows with a bench supply at 1Amp. Lithium needs a charge profile that tapers off much sooner. Meaning over 4.0v you really need to be much much lower than 1 amp. Better yet just use the charge controller from a USB power bank, or a TP4056 module. They are like $0.50 or something. And you can charge 2 batteries at a time by using 2 modules.

Can you do these similar mods again but just cancel the portable screen altogether and make a regular console that needs a TV like the big kids used to have in the 90s? You’ll have more room for fans and cooling, better charging cancel the dock..? I would love to see that. Also, were you able to turn up the Resolution any higher on this hacked version? (4K?)?

You inspired Me to use k5 pro on my old phone and it made the temps drop by 10 degrees.I also replaced a thermal pad in my old netbook with k5 pro and it made a very significant difference.Thanks for telling about k5 pro.

The switch is quite slim i believe an increase of size to increase hardware and battery would make it the switch 2 pro

those aluminum backplates are amazing (got a red one on mine) but they absolutely kill wireless capability, can't use any wireless controllers anymore

On the topic of ToTK, isn't there a dynamic FPS patch that you can run on the Switch, so it won't slowdown or speed up based on if it's slower or faster than 30FPS? Still a pretty impressive project regardless.

you can run zelda totk 60 fps without 2x speed by downloading and applying a 60 fps patch. it will run just fine like the normal 30fps does, played through all of zelda botw on my modded switch at 60 fps no issues.

I love my switch and have been using it for years. I seriously hate how frame drops can make some games basically unplayable though. More and more I've found myself going back to my 10 year old PC for most things...

However, your work and, by extension, your videos are excellent! I'm impressed by your upbeat attitude, great humility, and superb design skills! I'm especially a fan of your postmortem analysis. Few people admit to their shortcomings and what they could have done better, and even fewer designers do that. Great Video!, I was looking at what I needed for the battery mod the other day. How did you find the Mod install? Tricky right? Such an awesome build :) I'm going to need to look at doing this to my switch :)

What? Nintendo is stopping you at every corner? The only hurdles are the Triwing screws, bits for which are part of every cheap bits set for over a decade, and replacing the screen... so effectively, the only stopping block is the screen replacement. Or are your seriously suggesting a 8/10 repair score from ifixit says "stops you at every corner". The security issue of the Original Switch was due to the SOC, so the revision of the SOC fixed that. Are that seriously bad takes, a lack of research or just for controvercy?

I'm not sure if you've seen them, but the dock looks like it would be perfect for pika screws. They're designed to be shown off on the front of pieces, and with a countersink, it looks like they would sit flush.
