This is pretty cool. At least I'm learning different way of body swap.
I like this build. I think splitting the fenders to bring them out would look good. Maybe create a vintage on the back of the fronts and on the front of the backs would look good and allow the door to remain untouched.
Yes! This is the goal, small scalloping to make it work is definitely on the table! Thanks for watching!
It's going to look cool when it's done
We think so too! Thanks for watching
Loving the work on the Tri-cedes. Keep up the good work!
You two sure picked a hard way to bring a 1950s car into the 21st Century!
You might want to research the Triumph TR3 "Beta". You can probably find some info online. It was a prototype with a wider track than the TR3A. It won't be enough to completely solve your problem, but the Beta body had the fenders widened an inch each, front and rear, by slicing them near the top and adding a wedge of metal in each. The front fenders taper toward the doors and the rear fenders toward the tail lights. It's a popular mod among vintage racers ("Racetorations" in the UK has one). Of course this only adds a total of two inches width and you will need more than that. Still, it's a start. Good luck!
FWIW, there also were a couple TR3's prepared for the LeMans 24 Hour race by lengthening, but you are past that already (maybe) having shortened the SLK front to back.
P.S. TR3 Beta is not the same as the TR3B, which kept the same body and front and rear track as the TR3A and TR3 before It.
The Beta never went into production. Instead the TR4 came out in 1961 with a similarly wider track, but a completely redesigned body. For a couple years TR3B were sold alongside TR4, because dealers were worried the new model wouldn't appeal to people looking for sports cars, with luxuries like roll up windows and door handles.
I’ve seen this tapered effect using a wedge of metal, very cool, we’re hoping that with the 4 inches per side we’re adding it will give the car a art deco type racing feel, somewhere between a miniature delahaye and a pegaso. In the end I’m glad we didn’t touch the original length of the car, it’s such a timeless shape!
I hope you guys love this project as much as us viewers. Best regards from Sweden.
Thanks you for watching!
Is there any update on this car...love this car...🥰🥰🥰🥰
Seems they binned it. Moved on to other things. You could tell they weren’t serious about getting it right anyway.
Just found your channel. Please set up your playlists so we can more easily follow your build(s). Thanks! 👍
We need to get you guys more subs! I’m really glad I found this channel 👍 underrated as! Keep up the good work 👌
Thanks! Best way is to share to your social media! Thank you for watching!
This is so exciting can't wait to see the progress!
Thanks for watching!
Wheel offset; counterintuitive but, positive is what your Mercedes has, negative offset places the centers of the rims closer to their inner edges, making the track wider.
I think using another set of fenders to widen it but also keep the stock look would be sick. Also the wooden steering wheel sounds perfect, maybe add some other wood touches here and there maybe dash panel, inner door panels, one idea is also those wood slat looking things alot of old British cars had on the trunk to tie down luggage too. I know y'all have a while to go but paint wise I say all finders should match to one color but the main body a different color say white body and red fenders just an example idea. (I kinda wanted to hear the bike crank up lol)
Hey there , what happened to the rest of the SLK TR3 project !!!!
I like the build hopefully u get it finished
What about widening it by adding to the middle of the car? Cut the TR3 body right down the middle….
NOOOOO 🤣🤣🤣
We are adamant about leaving the triumph structure as designed in 1959. Just adding to the fenders
Looking at doing my own chassis swap for a old hurdy to put on a all-wheel-drive RT S4 very informative educational and you know user-friendly video
love the videos , great work guys Corey looks cool without the beard but either way he is a video star
Did you ever do more refinements on this build? Would love to see more videos on it!!!!!!
Dude like really wided the body like 6 1/2 inches and move the wheel wells back 4 inches good job with just a skinny wheel totally Dude
I think maybe you should add metal to the middle of the car and spread the car out wider
Try to keep looking I guess....
Dude like totally make the body wider Dude it's easy 😂
I love the painless sticker on the toolbox as you're butchering a Mercedes wiring harness. Ouch! Best of luck with that. I hate electrical problems especially the Mercedes kind.
Haha we choose to embrace the suck
Thank you
All for you guys! We love it! Thank you for being such a loyal viewer!
You guys keep up the good work. Body swap vehicles bring a lot of money. And it's a great hobby.
@@shoplifeornolife.1196 thanks! Obviously we aren’t doing it for money, we will keep all our builds like this. A token of the memories we made building it and taking it out to share with fans so they can get their feelers and peepers all over it at shows
any updates?
Hey guys brand new subscriber …. Just tid bit of advice on the offset on the tires and fenders watch halfass customs panel van video on how he remedied the offset on his project
Hey thanks for subscribing! Stay tuned we think everyone is going to love the transformation
Fits well. Why not split the shell down the middle, and widen it there, be alot less work. Flares'd look cool too. What's the green sickle?
Reasoning is, we really want to leave the original shape alone and not have to do a tremendous amount of body work to make the original shilouette look right
Cut the body in half! Right in the middle and add a section to widen the body to cover the wheel openings. Make it look right!
It will! Trust us!
My son and l have a pair of project TR3. I'm honestly not sure how l feel about this swap. Perhaps it will all come together in the end, but hmmm.
Fender flares like the Shelby Cobra might work.
Just widen the whole car body, cut it in the middle and add a foot, there is really nothing left of the body anyway but the sides.
Just watched all your episodes on the swap. Should have widened the Triumph. And dropped it down. Now you got to start messing with suspension. Guess you can still widen it. Would have liked cool widened. Good luck
Thanks for watching! More to come!
@@RedWhiteandBoosted PS I'm from England. Born in 64. Born in the Midlands. Home of car manufacturing. I just watched a documentary on Standard cars and man that built it up. The test driver says the 3 was a rolling death trap. He helped them with the 3a. Widen the body. Keep the mercedes standard. You digging in to deep. Good luck.
Yeah just section and widen the fenders. Might want to taper the section to flow back into the original body lines.
Also go peek at my chassis swap 😊
Exactly!
Don't widen the fenders unless you absolutely must. Instead, cut the body down the center and add a piece to widen the whole body.
this project still on?
Yep!
Widening the TR3 would have been easier in my opinion.
Make it wide body
What's happened with this project?
It’s still going, haven’t got enough footage to make a update video just yet
It's a shame the car is wrong hand drive! RHD would have been better, I'd buy it.
Is this project dead?
Why not cut the car in the middle from front to back, then add 5 " of sheet metal, then weld it back together. The fenders look too cool to change them. This would give you an extra 2" on each side. Also, you won't be rubbing elbows with the person in the passenger seat
Because body work. Adding 5 inches to everting is way way too much work for this project, adding over fenders is much easier and less precise work
@@RedWhiteandBoosted ok. I saw someone do it once. It turned out well. But yes, it was a LOT of work and involved an English wheel.
Should of. Should have thought about stretching the tr body to fit the uncut merc. To late now. Love these kinds of projects. I did a body swap on a Rv.
czcams.com/video/pR-Kw97kX7w/video.html
Don't split the fenders. Widen it in the middle. you've already taken the floor and everything out, anyway. put tubs inside and widen the whole thing down the middle.
When are you going to make the next video? LOL
vin belongs to merc not the tr3 hat when you combine cars like that. Keep it!
Go back and watch the first video haha. We have a title to a 1959 TR3 now:)
Besides there are vins etched in more places than just that one:
@@RedWhiteandBoosted yeah floorpan should have one, not sure how you get it a TR3 title when "chassis" is clearly the merc but whatever works....
@@andrewbaluk1663 because Georgia. HAHA
just make the car wider you allready cut it up
Why do you speak like a hysterical teenager?Like the project though, but your style is strictly targeted at an american audience.Maybe you should do the video with no audio, you would get a much bigger following.
