Today we are in the Bow Valley, Alberta. We will be hiking to the top of Mount Yamnuska. The trail is 10.6 kilometers, out and back, with an elevation gain of 986 meters. Today we will be doing the full loop trail. This is a very popular hike, with some scrambling up to the summit. If you do the full loop, the added bonus is screeing down the front side of the mountain.
This is my 41st video. Thank you very much for watching. If you enjoyed this video please give it a thumbs up. If you would like to see my other videos, Subscribe to my channel. Awesome video Cary! Thank you for the step by step experience of Mount Yamnuska, very well put together! I also love you got the stabilizer going on this one! I know that wasn't easy to have with some of those scrambles. Job well done and can't wait for the next one! Keep'em coming!

Went to the base of Yam at about 10 yrs old and scree’d down. A hike as a kid at Camp Chief Hector.

When I was young I learned how to rock climb on the cliffs just above the road😁 I have hiked this mountain 5 times now, 3 times as a kid and twice as an adult.

Hello! I really love how informative your videos are. They help me prepare for my next hiking trip. I am not comfortable with screeing yet, what technique/advice can you give specifically for this hike. Thank you so much!

Thank you very much, that's great. Typically when screeing I wear my hiking boots, and gloves, slowly walk down the scree ensuring my heels are dug deep into the scree, you don't want to be leaning forward. On Yamnuska there is very little scree at the top of the runs, so I side stepped until I got to the scree. Ensure there is no one below or above you on your path. I also would advise wearing a helmet, as there have been injuries there this year, and a death.

I am trying to showcase each hike now, so that a viewer can know what to expect if they haven't done the hike, so they can be more prepared if they choose to do the hike. I have a lot more hikes coming out soon.
