  • Aixam Coupe S *The car you can Drive on a CBT moped Licence - 30mph*
    400cc Kubota Diesel engine with CVT transmission. The car does approx. 75 - 100mpg and has Twin Cylinder 4.5bhp engine, the tank holds 3 gallon. There is a clarion Radio CD player, Heater (No A/C), heated rear window, electric windows, central locking, Daytime LED lights. Love it or hate it, it turns more heads than any other car.
    It does 28mph up hill and more on a flat and down hill surprisingly it holds you back when going down hills unless you accelerate , so it doesn't just role away. The boot is large, 2 seats but you cannot take a passenger unless they have passed their full test as the rules are the same as for a moped. The body is made of ABS and the shell is aluminum, these cars are all about the weight being under 350KG to comply so not even a rear wiper is fitted

      When i purchased for my wife she had a UK provisional licence with AM on it ( this wasn't something she had to do it was already on the licence) and then went and passed her moped CBT one day course, I contacted the DVLA and they said yes. As long as it was under 5 bhp and limited to 28 mph. To be on the safe side I would contact a motorbike shop or speak to CBT test centre for advice there is some info here or call aixam in the UK www-dailymail-co-uk.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2232401/amp/Aixam-Coupe-S-Teenagers-need-moped-licence-handle-light-quadricycle.html?amp_js_v=a6&_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQKKAFQArABIIACAw%3D%3D#aoh=16457321814154&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&_tf=From%20%251%24s&share=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailymail.co.uk%2Fnews%2Farticle-2232401%2FAixam-Coupe-S-Teenagers-need-moped-licence-handle-light-quadricycle.html

    It's a car I couldn't live with. Not because if styling but simply because of that dreadful sounding engine. It sounds like that because each piston fires every 180c unlike the more conveniental 360c on most 2cyl engines.

      Hi Michael, It is what it is what other options are there to stay dry and warm at 16 in the UK, When i first bought it for my wife i felt like i had bought a 4 wheel cement mixer but it never let my wife down in the 6 years she had it, was warm able to take her to work and shopping without the useless taxi drivers letting her down and looked as good as the day she bought it. plus got the same back when i sold it. A lovely couple bought it for their son hope it serves him as well as it did my wife. I did look at the Twizzy but you need a license to drive i believe as the BHP was 21 if i recall.

      @jaggass Před rokem +1

      @@calvinhudson327Correct and at least it did what you wanted it to do. I wasn't saying that Aixam make bad cars it's just that particular engine i'm not a fan of because of the sound of it and the vibration must have been horrendous but i suppose after a while you'd get use to it. I'd happily have the 2cy petrol or 3cyl diesel model as it's smoother but can't because i do alot of urban and motorway driving which they aren't really suitable for. I've only seen them in towns and cities.

      @@jaggass it's not just the noise it's the vibrations too
      the cars radio does help silence the obvious noise and on the older models it was the dashboard rattling due to its horrible vibrations those Kubota engines produce, they are good for a number of things but just it's only if you haven't got a car license already these are pretty expensive as well for what they are

    • @jaggass
      @jaggass Před rokem

      @@doberman194 Kubota's have the 180c firing interval like many small Japanese motorbike engines. The 2 cyl petrol has the more conventional 360c firing interval like most in flat twin or inline 2 engines. They're pricey but let alot of young people get out and about more practical than a moped or quad bike.

      Hi, Yes on a CBT licence its classed as a AM licence car, because they only do 30mph. Category AM mopeds have a maximum speed between 25km/h and 45km/h. See this - conversation.which.co.uk/parenting/16-year-olds-can-now-legally-drive-small-cars/ My wife wasn't 16 but she had had enough of taxis letting her down getting her work late. So i contacted the DVLA and they said yes as long as its under 5hp and 350KG in weight and she has passed her CBT moped licence which allows you to drive for 2 years and then you must either pass your test or redo CBT for a further 2 years, its classed as a light weight quadracycle, contact a motorcycle CBT test center and ask them they will advise you better than me. Hope that helps. the only downside is expensive even second hand. Apparently the french can drive at 14 see here www.aixam.com/en/driving-from-the-age-of-14
