If you talk to Lisa about the problems you had with her formulation she's Latian she's really great about getting back to you! I have found that with hand prosmolds they turned to crumble faster I've had to really really pack them in hard it's in hard to get them to go properly unless the right way

I've never even considered reaching out to Lisa...that is something I should have tried! I guess I don't understand "hand prosmolds they turned to crumble faster I've had to really really pack them in hard it's in hard to get them to go properly unless the right way" - But I would like to know what you mean. 🤗Can you help me with what you mean? It sounds like good advice, I want to get it right LOL

I find that using extracts..nettle extract for example is easier to incorporate in both the shampoo and conditioner bar

I love the idea of extracts! I need to look for that nettle extract, that sound perfect for a shampoo bar! Thank you for sharing this tip!!💖

Thank you for sharing your process, Tammy! I am currently testing my 4th formulation of shampoo bars now. I melt my sci powder though. I'm loving the ingredients, but still struggling with the whole making process (what to mix in at what point, what needs to be melted, what can handle being heated and what can't, etc) I now have quite an extensive collection of extracts, oils, surfactants, conditioners, silicone alternatives, etc! It is so fun to experiment though :-)

    • @WalnutCreekBathBoutique
      @WalnutCreekBathBoutique  Před 2 lety

That sounds familiar LOL - I've actually thought about melting my sci noodles, my bars from batch to batch are not as consistent as I would like for them to be...maybe that would help. I am thinking of melting them with whichever ing I am heating whether it be the butters or maybe the BTMS-50.🤔

  • @corrylloyd6593

Oh I also grind the noodles and they pack and dry nicely..

Good to know Corry! I'm on the right track then 😊 - Why I didn't go ahead and do that with the pink Burst bars, I can't say...I don't always think things through haha

Hey Tammy! Well what a ride you took us on! Love that your formulating when really you should be getting ready to enjoy family for Christmas! Tisk, tisk!
Have you ever thought of making nettle butter and horsetail butter for your shampoo bars? I do and I find it easier. My bars stay together better, but I also use a lot of BTMS 50 and cetyl alcohol in mine. Both for conditioning and to hold them together. Rinse off is very nice as well. Another person who has a great recipe for shampoo bars is Marie over at Humblebee and Me. She does everything in small batches so it saves on the math, lol! I hate math! Anyway, it was great to see this video pop up today! What's wrong with your internet? How long will you be stranded! People are probably going bonkers not being able to order! Kind of a bad situation this time of year.

HI Jill! Well I taped this in October, so we are good with Christmas LOL (although I've been super busy and actually have come to a mental/physical standstill the last few days - I tend to do that🤔😢 but am feeling a bit more myself tonight) And my internet is all safe and sound since those comments were in regards to being at the Covered Bridge Festival with absolutely no internet service as we were in the middle of no where 😊. I know it can be a bit confusing that what you see is a good 4 to 6 weeks after I say it, but I have to be ahead or I would be a nervous wreck with my posting 😂
I tried 1 or 2 of Marie's recipes, but honestly I thought they were just ok. Hate to say that tho cause I just love her LOL
Lastly...what is this about nettle or horsetail butters??? You must tell me more! You make your own?!? I'm so intrigued!! LOL 💖💖💖

@@WalnutCreekBathBoutique Yeah, I forget you do your videos weeks in advance, lol! I don't make videos, I watch them.
So, you want my deepest darkest secrets, lol! No problem. Here's how I make my butters.
      8 ounces of refined shea
      8 ounces mango butter
      3 ounces hempseed oil
      30 grams horsetail
      30 grams green tea leaves
Place it on a double boiler, let it steep on lowest setting of your stove for 4-6 hours. Do not let this get over the 150 degree mark or your shea will get grainy. Strain and squeeze through cheese cloth. Put in a bucket that will seal tight. Place in fridge to harden up. Allow to return to room temp, seal it put in a cool, dry place to store. You can do this with any number of butters, oils and herbs. Kinda do you. I use murumuru butter in all my hair products and it gives shine and strength. I use Cupuacu butter in all my lotions and butters. I've moved away from shea except for infusions. I don't want to deal with grainy. I finally figured out that refined shea is less likely to get grainy than unrefined. That's a plus! There you go, run with it and have fun!
