  • Widget Works Factory has done the impossible and upgraded the WIMPY front end on the 2007 Gen1 KLR650, buy mating the complete front end from my DR650 to the KLR650.
    Thus, gaining 43mm forks with Cogent springs & Cogent drop in cartridges, upgraded front DR650 brakes with larger disc rotor, 2 piston front brake caliper, and the more streamline DR650 headlight and nose cowling along with rubber mounted handlebar mounts.

    "Build Your Own Adventure"! Perfect! Great job on the front end swap. It is quite amazing what you are able to do to your bikes. Great to see you on the Tube. Happy Holidays and all the best my Friend!

      Thank you DOC650, the DR650 front end has really changed the KLR for the better. First ride was like I was on a completely different motorcycle. Everything was much improved. I can't wait to get it off road, that is where it should really shine.

      Thanks OW. Next mod is a heated burrito 🌯 holder and weenie 🌭 warmer. 😳
      The KLR is almost worthy to park in the man cave again. Another WW creation raised from the dead. Take care Amigo

      Dave, I will never be able to express how much getting to meet you truly meant to me. That was off the charts for me !!!!!

    Kawazuki!! Seriously though, that looks very clean and well done. I sometimes take a burrito out of my lunchbox and put it on the exhaust manifold of the Cummins, takes about an hour to get it hot.

      Thank you, The KLR650 motor specializes in heating burrito's not hp. 🤣 I'm really happy with the conversion, it has really changed every aspect of the bike for the better. I'll probably go back to the stock fairing at some point but having fun with it right now. Makes you wonder how great the bike could have been.

    Imagine your own upgrade and then do it. If motorcycle companies would read blogs and watch videos they could come vastly closer to building the nearly perfect bike. But then the aftermarket would suffer. 🤷🏻‍♂️
    Is there a build video that goes with the test ride? It would be interesting to watch!
    Another good video from the VW motion picture industry. Thanks for sharing and stay safe !

      Thank you Calvin, it is cool to sit and look at the old KLR now and think of when it was just a what if in my thoughts. The KLR feels so much better now and no longer feels like a much more capable dual sport. And my little creation. I did film some of the garage work.

      One would only think. It seems like Kawi did their best to dumb down a great bike. It has a good heart it just needs new legs .. like Forrest Gump.

    Hi there love your set up.
    Did the stem from Klr was a direct press on the triple clamp or did you had to mission it?
    Thanks

    • @verbalwidget7267
      @verbalwidget7267  Před rokem

      I wish it would have been that easy to just press in the Kawi stem in the Suzuki clamps, but the lower bearing area of the KLR stem had to be built up and made larger then machined to the DR dimensions, The upper triple clamp area was machined and a sleave made. It's all tight and works great. If you have the DR650 front end as I did, it's actually cheaper than buying fork brace better brakes, bigger rotors and all that. I have no intentions of getting rid of the Gen 1 KLR, so it was a good investment. I have to pull the front end off soon to install new head bearings, I'll toss up a video. Thank you
