      I agree also. Met the band on World Piece Tour. Great bunch of guys! Alas, never saw Freddy live except for Live Aid. My biggest regret in life as Queen was in Vancouver many times. Metallica although great shows, failed in comparison to Maiden. AC/DC also great, but not the same level of entertainment as Maiden.

    I've been a fan since 1978. One thing that sets Maiden apart from their peers - and this is as true NOW as it was back then - Maiden has NEVER degraded or objectified WOMEN with their music, videos or otherwise. Back in the early 80's, seeing women at metal gigs was a rarity and I was one of those rarities. I remember not being able to see another woman as far as I could see around me. Maiden has NEVER had to rely on SEX and exploiting women to sell records. And they were about the ONLY band back then who could say that! Their TALENT sold them and still does!

    Great cover/report CNN! Now mainstream society knows what we've known since whenever you and I became a (Iron) Maiden fan; the band has continued playing through departures (band-mates return), family responsibilities and years of grinding out albums by being consummate professionals. Having an alcohol free plane ride is a good policy for other touring bands! God bless music legends Iron Maiden and their management team.

Know he gave up drinking, but he seems like the kind of guy that you could hang out with at the local bar, and just laugh your ass off listening to his stories. Just seems like an average guy who happens to be in one of the biggest bands in the world.

    Its amazing that Maiden isn't as big in the states as they are pretty much everywhere else I the world. You see them headline Rock in Rio where there are 500,000 plus people and then I go and see them just outside Chicago to barely 10,000 people and they weren't sold out and Bruce said it was the biggest crowd they had played to in the area for quite a few years. This was just a few years ago and they rocked as hard as they did the first time I saw them in 1984 on the powerslave tour. They are to me HeavyMetal GODS!!!!! I know that the end is coming sooner than later, but ou still don't want to admit it.All I can say is UP THE IRONS AROUND THE WORLD!!!!!

    • @JohnTC9
      @JohnTC9 Před 6 lety +7

      Chris J Sadly metal is not as big in the US but there are plenty fans throughout the US. I also think the reason they draw more people in Latin America in a single show is because they play 1 show in each country (exceptions Brazil 3 to 5 shows & Mexico 2 to 3 shows). So Maiden fans in these country's & also surrounding countries with no Maiden shows converge on these shows that is held in a big stadium or big open area. Here in the US they perform up to 20 to 25 shows throughout the US in 1 tour. If Iron Maiden did 4 or 5 shows in the US each in a stadium or big open area you would see bigger crowds since fans would be all converging to their closest show.

    • @Hallowed82
      @Hallowed82 Před 6 lety +4

      Wrong. Their peak was 1983 to 1987 in the States. They stated to lose fans starting at the 7th Son tour in both the US and Canada. They never toured with Metallica or Megadeth then.

Take sweden, less ppl then NY but still sells out atleast 2 50k+ stadiums every year. Usually takes like 5min at most to for tickets to be sold out. Its just so much crap music in the US these days. i would not claim to be a maiden fan like the true fans are but i have a lot of love for the band. i have seen them 3 times and always great but what i really turn up for is the fans. maiden fans really love that band and they make the show. not many. if any, bands have the loyal fan base maiden have.

    "synonymous with hedonism" really? I wouldn't say Iron Maiden are particularly known for their hedonism, they are pretty known for being chill down to earth blokes.

    Hedonism? Really? Nicko once did a spoken word, and spun a yarn about banana daiquiris and spoke about his third as if he had downed a bottle of vodka. Their clean and relatively sober lives are why they are in their 60's, still blowing the minds out crowds 300,000 strong at Rock in Rio, and selling out within an hour here in Los Angeles. They are respectable and to be respected.
    By the way they were the FIRST band to ditch the tour bus and hop on a plane - that their singer pilots. Legends, ALL.
