OSHO: Jealousy- Society's Device to Divide and Rule

  • What is jealousy? Osho goes to the roots of the phenomenon of jealousy.
"Society has exploited the individual in so many ways that it is almost impossible to believe. It has created devices so clever and cunning that it is almost impossible even to detect that they are devices. These devices are to exploit the individual, to destroy his integrity, to take away from him all that he has got - without even creating a suspicion in him, even a doubt about what is being done to him.
Jealousy is one of those tremendously powerful devices.
From the very childhood every society, every culture, every religion teaches everybody comparison."

I cannot believe I've been using the exact same words to describe these same concepts now that I've come close to truly opening my eyes and finding my real self, after experiencing 28 years of deception and control from the outside world and my own ego. No wonder I've been a rebel and an outcast since childhood, without understanding why I was so different, criticized, misunderstood and even feared. And no wonder I found myself this much close to the very literal definition of madness at multiple points in my life. When you spend your existence annihilating your soul and consciousness instead of your ego, through believing the without instead of discovering what's within, this is what happens. I'm taking this discovery of Osho's words as a sign from the universe that I'm finally on the right path. I wish anyone could open their eyes and see and rediscover themselves first, after that meeting their own desires, other people and the world will come as a natural consequence.

I liked drawing, but I didn't have the talent to draw.
When I was painting, I was always jealous of someone.
Later, I chose to write novels, but I remember being jealous of people who could draw well.
After I stopped drawing and writing novels, I no longer felt jealous.
It is very understandable that jealousy is generated by one's own interest and consciousness.

We don't must to forget that jealousy it's a thrill which reminds us that something loved for us (it can be a girlfriend, boyfriend, friend etc) can be lost. So, appears to take actions and keep the desired object. The point is how to deal it with no suffering but with maturity. I know we can live jealousy in a mature way because i experienced it, but i agree with Osho and i see society, most of them, generally, doesn't want we learn it because we would be dangerous individuals to the status qu0

How disgusting is this teaching instead of facing reality we compare and are relieved, never attempting to change the society and our sufferings. An eye opener.
