I'm an old woman! Lived through the hippie years, classic rock, Southern Rock, Country music, etc etc! However, we lost a true Patriot! Great songwriter, great sense of humor, wonderful family man of Faith! He has left a void in our hearts and the music industry! Love to his family, friends and fans!
I worked with a woman that was in his high school class, and she said he was always getting in trouble and getting suspended. But she said he was funny and fun. He was cool.

I’m English and had not heard of Toby Keith, neither have I ever been a fan of American country music, but watching this performance I can understand why you rate him so highly.

RIP to an absolute country legend in Toby Keith. Despite the fact I'm from the UK I was brought up with country music and love the old school country from Waylon to Merle and Toby was right up there with them. I don't listen to any of the so called modern country music but that's another story.

As someone from the UK who has loved country music since he was a kid (my dad's 2 favourite singers were Patsy Cline and Jim Reeves), it is good to see some country on the channel. Sad it is for a sad occasion though. Toby Keith made some classics and was as you said one of those who made the more lighthearted songs. Most of the ones I knew are his older ones as country doesn't get the play over in the UK so you really have to look for it. But I will be playing a Toby Keith Playlist today in tribute to a great man and singer. RIP Toby.

This song came out in my early 20's..I've been a country music fan my whole life.. My Pop-pop raised me on the greats.. old school country.. Momma raised me on Elvis and Daddy raised me on Frankie. I love pretty much all music.. Toby was his own person.. and his music was awesome to me. Being from a small country town.. I just get his music..

I loved his patriotism and how much he supported our troops. He performed in Germany when my son in law was stationed there with the Air Force. He met with a lot of them and signed autographs. He was truly interested in spending time with them.

I'm 70 years old and have heard music through the years from Bing Crosby to the nutty Tater Swift. Toby brought comedy and the human experience to us bigger than life. We need to keep the American spirit alive. We still have Trace Atkins and his humorous songs to enjoy. Some entertainers actually entertain.

One of the greatest things he did was finish Merle Haggard's final set. Merle was sick and Toby came to him and told him if he ever needed him Toby would show up. Merle asked how many of my songs do you know? Toby replies every one of them sir. Halfway through the last concert Merle stopped and called Toby on stage and then walked off and Toby finished the concert for Merle. It was an honor Toby said. Taylor Swift was signed by Toby and he produced her first records. Still haven't heard from her (but I might have missed it.)
