Brilliant video Tony. I left Sunderland nearly 30 years ago and it breaks my heart to see Holmside so run down

Getting into Fino's was an achievement in itself when younger as I'm sure you had to be over 25 if my memory serves me right

The stairs into the Ku Club were almost vertical & it had a strange bleach smell on a Thursday evening. Happy days though.

Bentley’s was the club of choice late 80s early 90s.

i went to bentleys only once, the problem was too many under age drinkers, kids as young as 13 would go in all dolled up trying to look 18

It always worked too! I think I was 12 the first time I went in there lol

@@hikerai2070 and that was the problem, a 20 year old lad out on the pull doesn't want a 12 year old

When I was a (bloody) student in Sunderland in the early 1980s we used to go to the metal night at the Mecca - or the 'Mek-ah' as the locals said. So much headbanging, so much hair. I met Catherine Buckle there. Beautiful girl. SHe came up to me and started snogging me, completely out of the blue and much to the chagrin of my pals, who were jealous as fuck. Whatever happened to Catherine?

We've loved and lost Sunderland Town thanks to years of labour rule.

Good to see the pubs shutting down, the Brits basically need to focus on economics , hard work, thriftiness , manufacturing , exports , as they used to be when they were an industrial and economic powerhouse world power , not darts , football and boozing .
